The Expendables trailer (Stallone, Statham, Li, Rourke, Lundgren, Stone Cold & more!)
I get what you are saying though. In that regard, Chow Yun-Fat would have rocked.
After the garbage that was Dragonball Evolution I'd say leave him out.

Still, I agree with the earlier post that Van Damme & Seagal are idiots for not wanting to be included.

Why the hell is Terry Crews shown a million times and then not mentioned in the names? Considering he has a show out now and Lungdren hasn't done anything since being the Russian in Rocky, looks weird.

I know this was posted a while back, but did Stallone ask them to be in the movie?

I imagine he did, but I was just curious. I agree that they both should have been in.

Yes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Expendables_(2010_film)

Jean-Claude Van Damme was personally offered a role by Stallone, but turned it down because he felt there was no substance to his character.[4] Stallone said that Van Damme told him that he should "be trying to save people in South Central."[5] Dolph Lundgren was cast next.

The role of Hale Caesar was initially conceived as a role for Stallone's Demolition Man co-star Wesley Snipes, but later rewritten for Forest Whitaker.[6] Due to a scheduling conflict prior to filming, Whitaker was then replaced by 50 Cent for the role of Hale Caesar[7] before the role finally went to former NFL player Terry Crews.[8]

Steven Seagal was asked to make a cameo appearance, but turned down the offer due to negative experiences with producer Avi Lerner.[9]
It's either this or Scott Pilgrim or Both.
Stick with Pilgrim. It was really good.

As for this... I will wait for DVD. Not expecting the "mangasm" I am suppose to have.
Lungdren hasn't done anything since being the Russian in Rocky
He was motherfucking He-Man. Come on.

Annoyed I'll be out of town and not have time to see this until Sunday. Movie event of the year, dammit.

Don't forget that this is a D-BOX enabled title:

http://www.d-box.com/en/movie-theatre/

Theater locations are listed down a little further on the page. Normally an $8 or so upgrade price over the standard movie pricing.

I thought it was well worth it for Inception and I'd probably fork out the money for this movie in D-BOX.

The Expendables could quite possibly be the most manly movie ever committed to celluloid, I can't wait to watch this one!

Seriously, if they could reanimate Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee, Lee Marvin and "The Duke" then, throw in Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, and Chuck Norris there would be no contest!
Stick with Pilgrim.
Hand in your mancard please.

Along with everyone else who would rather see Scott Pilgrim over this this weekend.

I had no idea about this d-box... I may spring for that route. Got a paintball game on sunday and so it will be a chore to get the others to go to a d-box theatre.... oh well.

No D-Box theater around me, which is odd because there should be at least one in Chicago and NYC on principle alone. I am going to see both Scott Pilgrim and the Expendables on Friday or Saturday. Both in one day.

This movie will crush Pilgrim at the box office, when is the last time the superbad kid made any money at the box office besides superbad? The expendables is going to be intense, hopefully the action is like that of the last Rambo movie.

To answer your question, Juno. The reason for the others... they are indie films (i.e. don't fair well unless nominated for Oscars) minus Year One. Speaking of Year One, it made more than the last Rambo film. Trust me, Scott Pilgrim will fair better than what you expect.

Scott Pilgrim will do pretty well for what it is. Won't beat this though, too many manly men and girly-men who want to pretend they are manly will see this. I wonder how many females will be in the theater besides me though. Probably some who are seeing it in exchange for the guy having seen Twilight.

Good point haha - I'd say sticking with Pilgrim or Expendables are safe choices, Step up 3d doesn't deserve anyones time of day (coming from a fan of the others too).

Yes! All women that forced their boyfriends or husbands to any one of the Twilight movies must attend the Expendables with them.

Wow from the looks of the trailers Willis and Arnold are barely in the movie.

Even at the end of the theatrical trailer they don't mention their names. And you don't see them in any action sequences.

They both just make cameos.

Even then I believe most of the Governator's screen time is shown in the trailer. I think Willis's role is slightly bigger, as he is in the posters for the movie and all.

Year One was PG13, where as Rambo was a hard R rating, any R rated movie kills a lot of ticket sales. BTW, Rambo made 313 mill worldwide, where as Year One made 112 mill worldwide. Since then, the one where he had a double life flopped also. He'll have a head start with the PG13 rating compared to Expendables R rating this weekend though

Gay. The only movie theater in AZ that does this is in Surprise. Phoenix is our capital and I thought for sure they'd have one.

Surprise is... a town in Bum fuck Egypt. Bizarre.

Anyway, anyone see any movie cash deals on this? I am definitely seeing it, so I might as well get some free or heavily discounted Blu-Rays out of it.

I'd see it with you. Coming to georgia anytime soon? This movie looks pretty stupid, but I dig stupid. Especially when plenty of stuff gets blown up and there are car chases, jets and/ or shoot-outs or other assorted fighting is involved.

Ugh, never saw or wanted to see any of those twilight movies. They looked absurdly poor and tweenie from the first preview.

I'm seeing it with my husband at least. 7PM tomorrow night. We redboxed the Twilight movies to MST3k them. It went well for the first one, but the second one was so bad we could barely do that. Now my husband doesn't even feel like redboxing the third one to MST3k it. They are really shitty movies.

So, it might be gone, since it's not listing anything for D-BOX on the theater's website.
WTF is this and why have I never heard of it before?
D-BOX is motion controlled seating with a subwoofer in the seat. The seat moves in motion with the movie, giving some immersion feeling to what's going on on-screen. Plus, they're about 50% bigger seats than the "normal" ones, as they put 10 D-BOX seats in a row that normally has 15 "normal" seats. Any movie with a lot of action seems to work well with it, from the ones I've seen.

Movies they've had in it (and I think this was all of them):
2012 - initial movie they had with it
Sherlock Holmes - saw it
From Paris With Love
Nightmare On Elm Street remake
Clash of The Titans remake
Prince Of Persia - saw it
Inception - saw it
So. Sooooo. Jealous.
May not have any reason to be, if my theater did can it. Tron Legacy is listed as another D-BOX title, though as they're not listing Expendables with D-BOX ticketing, they may have killed it after Inception.

I'm guessing because the closest ones are located in Michigan.

Hopefully, this catches on and they start expanding more. The implementation will probably be similar to DLP. I remember there used to be only two theaters in all of Ohio with DLP (I drove all way up to bum fuck Egypt aka Valley View to watch Star Wars Revenge of the Sith in DLP) and now it seems about every theater has them.

I just got back from seeing it. It was all right.

The Mickey Rourke melodrama bit wasn't as bad as it could have been. The girlfriend plot went somewhere but dropped off before it could have been finished. The beginning up until the plane scene was kinda meh.

I just wish Stone Cold got more lines. At least he was thoroughly Stone Cold in every line he delivered. He was like an alternate universe version of the WWF Stone Cold. Totally himself.

The big action stretch at the end was really cool. The Jet Li fight was also exciting.

Overall, good movie. Turn off your brain, and you'll have a good time.

Steve Austin was miscast IMO. He was the only one who was miscast. I just plain didn't like him in the role, it just didn't seem right. Everyone else (at least of the main cast) was perfectly cast. Having a martial artist like Li was brilliant; he also shot when he needed to which was great. There was a somewhat shaky camera during the action scenes but unlike every other movie that has used shaky cam that I've seen, I could actually tell what was going on and the shots were so good that it actually enhanced it. Some wonderful cinematography in one of the first fights
the one with Stallone and Statham
. The story was of course ass and should be ignored. Think of it as a collection of great action sequences with excellent chemistry between the cast and you will love it.

early numbers.. expendables took 1 for friday with $13.5 mill, chick flick eat pray love no. 2 ewith 9 mill and scott pilgrim no.4 with 4.7 mil

Do I go to the early bird at Cinemark for $5.25 or Marquee for $6.00......or do I skip seeing this in the theater and buy it from the local used DVD shop when they get in a copy from a crackhead two days after release for $3?

Ding, ding, ding. I think we have a winner. Used movie shop for $3 six months from now.

I totally agree with this. He was like a cardboard cutout for nearly the entire film. With the exception of
the scene w/ him bashing the generals daughters face in near the end
and
the fight w/ Stallone
, I thought his character was a total waste.

Really enjoyed the the flick. I thought Terry Crews was total bad ass in the end.

Yeah, like Dollyguy said, I think part of it was because he acted like he was Stone Cold in the WWF. He didn't try to make his own character at all.

This was #1 this weekend as expected. Respectable $35 mil, no word on the budget. Scott Pilgrim did worse than I expected with $10 mil at 5th place and a budget of $60 mil. I think releasing on the same weekend as the Expendables hurt it a lot; there's a big overlap in fanbase there. It might have decent staying power though.

Yeah, maybe not the best weekend to release Scott Pilgrim. Still, those numbers are really sad, since it really is a great movie.
I'm sure Scott Pilgrim is a fine flick and I want to see it, but sigh, everything is right in the world. Mindless action film rapes the Box Office.
Absolutely.

I saw both this weekend. Both were definitely worth my time, but I'm not surprised in the least Scott Pilgrim disappointed, to use words from that article. It's hardly a "great movie" but it's fun if you notice the Zelda music cues and think the fighting game/DDR references are funny.

Expendables is exactly what I thought it would. Really no better than any other cookie cutter action movie, but so awesome to see all these people together. Want to try to get to the Michigan theater with D-Box but not sure if that'll happen.

I had zero problem with Austin's role. It's not like he's a versatile actor yet (and who knows if he'll ever be?) - if he's not acting like Stone Cold, what's the point? "WHO SENT YA, YA PIECE OF TRASH??"
