The gameplay in GGT #93 is awesome, but the story kinda sucks.
I love how I posted on the NeoGAF that LBP is kinda meh to me and feels very shallow and all the user created levels are very samey.

Watch out for the Sony Evangelists.. fuck. That place has been fucking overrun with people claiming LBP to be the best thing ever. I wonder if it's a mandate if you work at SCEA to have to post good things about LBP on the GAF?
or you could genuinely enjoy the game.

I understand that there is a level of sameness, but at the same time the beta is limited. I'll agree to that judgment if not much changes with the retail.
HAHAHA Lions are soo bad :)
Also Jest, if you want to play Buzz tomorrow, I'm game.
Its Thanksgiving tomorrow :)
When did the Vikings change the color of their uniforms to black and white stripes? :D I hope the Lions lose every game this year, but the refs totally fucked 'em this game.

Jer, I can see why you wouldn't like Rhapsody. But I shouldn't be ashamed of liking it. How else am I going to get dates from the playground? ;)

Trying to go through Uncharted on Crushing and...damn, this is HARD! Plus, it seems the checkpoints are different, at least in this one part in Chapter 4 or 5. I forget which. I mean...I get past the cliff, take out the guys up to the Rocket guy and I die, then it proceeds to push me back to the beginning of the area. What the heck.

interesting...

Right, been doing one of my periodical digging through the backlogs of the ESRB ratings and this time around a doozy of a rating.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 CAPCOM Teen Blood, Suggestive Themes, Violence PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Well, there is it, Marvel Vs. Capcom is unofficially officially coming to the HD era in some fashion, most likely as a XBLA/PSN release. You may commence the rejoicing

Wow, this GGT is almost done.

I picked up N+ and Space Invader Extreme for my PSP yesterday in the TRU B2G1F. Both games are really good, a lot of fun to play and ideal portable games.

N+ is a bit weird in that it only lets you use the D-pad to control the Ninja. Not sure what their thinking was on that one, I use the D-pad for most PSP games anyway, but that seemed a bit weird.

360 wise I've decided to play through Mass Effect and NFS:Carbon.

Good morning GGT!!

Played some more MegaMan 9. Only got Hornet Man left before I can tackle Dr Wiley. Playing MM9 has made me want to go out and grab MM Anniversary now. I never played any of the MegaMan games after 5.

Also made a lot of progress in Xenosaga 2. I think I'm closing in towards the end. Should be done by the end of the week if I decide not to do all the sidequests.
:whee: Can't beat Secret of Mana for $8 on VC, think that one might preempt Shining Force and Mario RPG in my playing queue.
SoM disappointed me when I was a kid -- Dropping $50 on it to have it be entirely too easy ... :|

Good morning GGT. Toyed with the idea of going to TRU for Wii Points cards (want World of Goo), but that means $3 train fare to and from NYC, where everything good on sale gets sold out super-fast anyway, so I'm not going to bother.

Started Super Mario RPG last night, and got further than when I first messed with the game via emulation; back then, I quit not long after meeting Mallow. It's funny and whimsical, but not as much as Paper Mario; I can see where that later game got a couple of its ideas from, though.

Secret of Mana's on VC today? Awesome! Yet another classic RPG I've never played that I must get :whee:

The sony crowd is pretty wacky there. that's the trade off for being the best gaming news site around. Can't even remember the last time i've gone to gamespot, ign, the main blogs, etc.

Played some SCIV last night, did the first 11 floors of the tower on ascending and got several of the treasure chests.

Then played some Kirby Super Star Ultra on the DS before sleeping. I'm close to done with that game. The further I've gotten the more I've liked it, though I still wish it was one, full length game rather than a bunch of very short games.

As for the LBP stuff, I still have no interest in it. I have no desire to create my own content. I want to play games, not make them. I also don't have much desire to play through user created levels, as again I prefer nicely put together full length games. I need some semblance of a story and clear goals to keep me playing a game, so I have little desire to play through random user created content.

I feel the same way. I've never had any desire to buy LBP.

I largely agree with you and Dmaul. I think it's an interesting experiment though, to create a "game" like this. I believe there's some kind of story mode which is meant to clock in at around 10 hours, don't know much about it though.

I'm torn.

I want to pick up World of Goo, but don't have enough Wii Points or space, and its coming out on Steam as well ($20 vs $15). I think I would prefer playing this with the Wiimote on the TV.

Decisions, decisions...

So I went to the LBP boards on GFaqs. I guess a couple people made 9/11 simulators. How sad are people when they have to make fun of people dying in such a horrible manner.
I feel the same way. I've never had any desire to buy LBP.
Me either, for the most part. I can see why people are interested in it tho. Its got a lot of things going for it, but not enough for me to justify a $60 purchase. I would much rather play platforming games than make them.

It almost reminds me of my experiences with RPG Maker back on the PS1. While I didn't create my own RPG, I played thru a game a friend of mine created with it, and it was god-awful. I just feel that 95% of all user-created LBP stuff is gonna suck.

Fable II looks really fun and kind of simplified, in a good way. Fallout 3 seems really ambitious and huge and I'll probably wait until next year to pick it up, the next week after it comes out Gears 2 comes out and I won't want to play it, Fallout 3 will be the type of game you will have to dedicate month(s) to.

Yeah, I'd like to see some impressions as well. I'll probably buy neither anytime soon as I've had Oblivion sitting on the shelf untouched for a few months, so I should probably fire that up first.

I just have a hard time getting motivated to play RPGs as they're such huge time sinks. I much prefer nice 6-10 hour FPS games that I can plow through in 2 or 3 long play sessions when I have a night or weekend free.

I used to bitch about short games, but being older and busier (and having goozex to get games) I honestly prefer them these days.

Best is something like Gears or CoD4 which have good, short campaigns and great online play as I can get through the single player quick, and online multi is great to just jump in for a few hours when I have some free time.

Nothing terribly detailed or reliable, so don't take all this as more than some random people's opinions:

Some people say combat is a little tough, other people say it's ridiculously easy. Others say it doesn't know if it wants to be turn based or FPS and that it controls like shit. I've heard the opening is "worse than Oblivion" and that characters talk too much. Also, the graphics are supposedly horrible (character models in particular.)

Fable II looks like The Witcher: Bad Edition. And since I'm playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, I think I'll pass.

Even if Fallout 3 sucks a dongle, I did find out that Dead space is actually a good game, so... DS can replace F3 in that worst case scenario.

Anyone who judges the game based on looks, their opinion is invalid IMO.

Let me say I wanted the game pretty bad, but once I had the chance to actually play it myself (the beta), the game is a masterpiece and unlike anything else out there once you go through all of its features. Since I have the PS Eye, that makes things even better. Some of the user created levels are BEYOND amazing and beyond interesting (some of the user created levels are basically better than 99% of the games out there these days). And there are TONS of them to play. The Xbox 360 vs. PS3 user created level rocked because if you chose 360 as your console, you got hit by tons of RRoD and tons of Xbox 360 consoles exploded. If you chose PS3, you made the right choice, got tons of items, and got to go for a nice ride. Playing with friends is also tons of fun.

People avoiding LBP just don't know what they are missing.

LBP reminds me a lot of Buzz and SingStar. In SingStar, I get to upload videos of myself on a community and share them (along with watch others) all over the world. With Buzz, I get to create quizzes and have people take them, while I can take other quizzes people make, which leads to endless replay values. These are some of the reasons I like my PLAYSTATION 3 so much. :D

But dude, Buzz is awesome.
Its a great Trivia game.
EDIT: If somebody can confirm and explain LBP's Story Mode, I'll get the game. There is a killer deal up North where you can get 50% off LBP PLUS at LEAST $30 when you trade in 3 games.

You cant play it turn based anyway. Its more of a time freeze power + auto-aim that you can use from time to time. The VATS system doesnt control movement, so if you move at all, which you will be doing all the time during combat, you're not in VATS.

I was impressed by the level design when I went to their big theater show at PAX, but I didnt bother to go to their booth to play it.

Yes I do. I have no interest in creating content. I don't have a creative bone in my body. I've never liked making things. I don't even use the character creating feature in games like SCIV and Mass Effect and just use the stock characters. It's just not my cup of tea.

I don't like making things in games, doing creative writing, drawing etc. I like to play games, watch movies, listen to music, read books etc., but have never had any interest in making any of that shit myself.

If you're not into making stuff, there's little appeal to LBP unless you are interested in playing through random user created content, and I'm not.

If I ever feel like leaving the site for good, I'll take up his mantle against the pirates here. Holier than thou? Absolutely. We are better than them.

I'm going to go around town and hide copies of LBP at stores so people can't buy them.

I love making shit - I remember that Game Creation System thing that let you make FPSes. I put hundreds of hours into that shit, and I really feel like I know what makes a game good... I love making levels and the whole creative process. But I don't want create levels for some cutesy bullshit platformer with bland mechanics.

If a leaked version of Fallout 3 PC comes out, which it hasn't yet, I'm downloading it and using it to decide whether I want to pick up my pre-order for the game. That's all I have to say about that.
