GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

They've been accepting games from me without the original cases. Games that I've bought from them that didn't have the original case. I'm pretty sure they'll accept it if it's their case. That would be some massive BS that they can sell you games without the original case but won't accept trade ins on them.
I would assume there would be a period where they dump their old caseless stock while not accepting caseless trade ins. Otherwise how else would they transition? They could either (1) toss the remaining caseless stuff and eat the loss, (2) sell it at a deep discount or in bulk to a third party vendor, or (3) sell it at full price still on their website. Which option do you think Gamestop is most likely to pick?

Has anyone been asked for an ID when redeeming coupons? Yesterday one of the GameStop’s I went to said they had to have ID for me to redeem my $30 coupon. I had literally just went to two other GameStop’s before them and none of them required ID.

Anyone order last night and still not have your order show up anywhere? Email or order history. I have my Paypal receipt so I guess I'll wait and see.

I also saw GranBlue Fantasy Premium for $50- anyone think that's worth it?
If you sell the code that comes with it/redeem it and sell the codes it gives you, you'll get almost all your money back. Same with the regular edition.

That’s kind of bizarre. My guess is that it’s just to prevent someone else in line overhearing an account phone number or trying to use someone else’s coupons though. Just watched a show on Amazon called “inside the edge”, about professional blackjack players that can beat the casinos. The lengths and illegal means casinos go to to keep them out, like half the show was the casinos trying to force them to give ID when by law they don’t have to in most cases. In your case, unless they were giving you a hard time about anything else, I think a rep or store actually doing it for consumer protection more than anything else though.

I ordered Aegis Rim, Kandagawa Jet Girls Racing Hearts Edition (no idea why but a $30 CE is about as decent of a deal as I can find these days) and used the fairly standard buy 2 new games get 50% off on PS4 GoT that my brother can have. Sucks I picked up Aegis for $60 and launch thinking it wouldn't be around for long, seeing as under the radar the game went.
Know the feeling. I bought two copies of Ys: Memories of Celceta PS4 for $40 each back in June, only to watch the price plummet to $25.

Yuck. I was lucky and got the ones I needed from Walmart. I really can’t have Santa give the kids GameStop ‘new’ games for Christmas. Peace of mind of actual sealed games was worth the $3 extra.
Can't imagine gifting anyone a "new" game like that, let alone little kids. GS is a joke.

Do you know what dlc is included? The game description just says “dlc for the mobile game”. I don’t know what I’m looking at in the eBay listings, but seeing individual dlc with infrequent ~$10 sales. I was waiting on this one personally, but if I could just sell the mobile dlc to pay for the rest, I’d do that.

You get a PSN code which you can redeem, and then on the main menu somewhere there'll be something about serial codes. That should give you the main code, and you can fulfill requirements in the game to get more(but less sought after) stuff for the mobile game. The DLC characters come with codes for the mobile game too.

I'm sure the hype behind said codes has died down a lot since release but it's still a good way to recoup some cash if you wanna try it out. Keep in mind though that there's a LOT of DLC, and it's expensive.

Is anyone going to try and get Game Pass U for $19.99 tomorrow in store? The people waiting to get an Xbox S/X and PS5 tomorrow are making think it's not worth it because the line will be a mile long.

I'm guessing you are wanting to use credit, but I'd just get it at target and avoid going into a GameStop personally. It's also $20 at target right now.

Both Newegg and Target will be selling it for the same price online.
I wanted to use my GS credit and GPU is a physical card verses a digital card. I currently don't have an Xbox and I'm waiting to get one next year after they fix all of the bugs. Some people were saying on here that digital cards are good for 30 days while physical cards don't have an expiry date.

It really is lame that GS is forcing us to go in the store to buy it. You'd think they would let us buy it online with a global pandemic going on. I also have credit I'd like to use towards this but no way in hell I'm going there during this busy week.

Do these special prices start tomorrow? When I added to my cart for some items, the price doubled the advertised price on the product page

Edit: never mind. Seems I selected my Pro rebate. I hate how they advertise the price of products with that promo code in mind. Especially when you already added items to cart, it still shows the special price for other products.

Oh wasn't aware of the digital expiration. Well if you don't have an Xbox and haven't "converted" to GPU yet, there are cheap ways to get xbox gold that will convert 1:1 for GPU and end up being a similar or better price for a year of GPU compared to the 3 month card.

Question: anyone know if GameStop is having issues with online gift certificates?

I redeemed some points I had built up for a $25 online gift certificate, but it won't let me add it to my cart. It keeps giving me a dreaded "Coupon cannot be added to your cart" message. I even tried adding it to a cart with random games that aren't part of the deal, and it still didn't seem to work. I literally just redeemed my points for it 10 minutes ago. Any thoughts?
That was my experience since I ordered 3 funko pops. They wouldn't apply it even though it was a legitimate usage. Doesn't matter; I have to pick up my FE CE's in like a week and a half anyway so I'll use it then.

Just get it at Target and avoid the cancer at GS.

Thanks, I saw that deal and it would be better for me, but I'm not sure if MS will have that $1 conversion when I get my Xbox SX late next year.

I’m pretty sure Digital XBL codes do not expire in 30 days. There have been times I buy them from Newegg and I know they sit for longer than 30 days in my email before I enter them.

Outer Worlds for $19 was a hell of a deal. Did a B21 with that and some $15 dollar trash games I've wanted. Put in a new copy of Code Vein for $10, and it came out to $45. Hell of a deal.

Anyone having problems adding any items to your cart? I click add to cart and nothing is happening.

I thought outer worlds was okay. I haven't tried the expansion though. I have a hard time buying xbox games now that there are so many things to play via game pass ultimate.

I ordered 8 games during the B3G1, 4 came in yesterday. I was able to reorder most of them last night with the b2g1 sale. So I will be keep the good conditions/complete games & returning the previous order *or flip them*.3 1st party switch games for $55 is just ridiculous, great ad this year.

I got the slipcover & artbook but a generic case. GS gon GS smh.

Just jumped on all the Oddworld games for Switch. $20 each wasn't the craziest deal, but I really wanted them and had a $42 gift card so all 3 for $22 is fine with me. Thought about waiting for B2G1 free but the Munch's Odyssey and New & Tasty didn't have them available. Still happy.

Munch's Oddyssey sucks, but I didn't know New & Tasty got a physical copy. I might have to look into that.

Anyone else taking advantage of the B1G1 on used games? switch, xbox one, Ps4

Just made a couple orders for the $35 games. After tax the both of them came to about $21 after tax each...

Wonder how busy the stores will be tomorrow if all the decent deal stock is probably awaiting pickup and all the consoles are gone in the first hour heh. With the B1G1... stock will definitely will be gone once it shows up on Slickdeals.

All my orders are thankfully preparing for shipment/pickup after a slightly longer delay from placing to "order received".  :whee:

New and Tasty was a Limited Run Games release only I believe. One of the first titles they did and I sold my PS4 copy for like $200 a few years ago so you may have a tough time finding it in the wild. Unless they did a later reprint or something

Picked up a couple Switch games I'm hoping to burn through on my off-days and trade back in for more than the purchase price.
