They had a great two hour programn looking into the making of Seargent Pepper. I always considered it the end of the begining and the neginning of the end of the beatles.

I knwo this is hindsight becvause they broke jup way after I was born, but it's obvious just listening to Seargent Pepper that the rift between Paul and John is too wide and they have a hard time working with each other. You can see it in the lyrics. They're like on two different wavelenggths. And they told a funny story about Strawberry Field where you cna actually hear the splice between Johns and Pauls version of the song. I never knew that before.

It isn't even be their best album which was also mentioned by the WSJ Music Critic. But they told a lot of greta stories about the making of the album. They had a greta storuy about George Harrison and his impact. It was a good show. They should do more shows like that for PBS, but focusing on influential records in history and how they were made. I'd like to hear how Nevermind and Ok Computer was made in such Depth.

Man, I wish I had seen that. Ima a huge Beatles fan...

Yeah, like in Nevermind, i youy hear Bleach, then you hear Nevermind, you know ethere's somethign going on in between them. Somethign in the producing. But it's just a story I've never heard.

With Strawberry field,s, there are around seventy different recordings of that song. At least what they said on the show. It's one of the beatles most re-recorded songs. As they explained it, John lennon wrote the lyrics while he was relaxing on the beach one day.

Then they spent weeks workiung on it. Eventually, he came up with a version that was kinda slow and psychodelic. But he still wasn't happy to it. So he asked Paul to do a version. And Paul does this highly instrumental, louder, more popish version. Because Paul was like that. And of couse John didn't like that either. But john did like the instrumentals in Pauls version. So he tells the produce, I like the beginning of mine, I like the ending of Pauls, put them together.

Well, the produce has just been told to do this while Jophn goes out clubbing. So the producer and an enginner spend all night trying to figure out how to do this. because both versions were completely differnt tempos and pitches of instrumentation. So the engineer gets the idea of speeding one up. So they speed up Johns version, and it fits, but it still doesn;'t spound right. So what they did was speed up Johsn justa little bit, and slow down Pauls just a little bit. Then they slice the two the after the second "strawberry fields forever." When you hear the drums kick in, that's Pauls version. And if you loisten closely, you can hear the splice, but you have to listen for it.

Then the Harrioson story was hilarious. Harrison had written three songs on their last album. But Paul and John thought that Sgt.. Pepper was too good an album for Harrison. So they only let him have one song. And most of the time George Harrison was in India while they were working on Sgt Pepper. So Geore comes back to England towards the end of making Sgt. Pepper, writes a song, and Paul and John think it's shit. Eventually that song gets put on Yellow Submarine. But basiclaly they give George the nuge nuge that he's probably not going to get a song. Which starts a row.

So the producer evens things out and goes tell George to write somethign else and he'd make sure it got put on the record. So John goes back, writes within and without you, and he has thios whole orchestral vision of it in his head because he's just flown back from India. But when he plays it for Paul and John, he's basically doing it as an acoustic solo, and Paul and John hate it. But think of the song with John and Paul listening and George sitting on a stool, struming with a single guitar, and singing. I woudl think it sucked too. But the producer is like, let's just record it and play around with it and see what happens.

At this poinnt, John and Paul are like, "You can do whatever you want because the album is done as far as we're concerned." and then go off to club or smoke marajuwanna or whatvere they did at that point.

But George has this vision in his head, which he can't seem to express. So he flies in this indian orchestra he knew from his time in india, and as soon as they arrive, they start recording that night. And they spend allevening with george directing the english and indian orchestra on that beautiful interplay between east and west. And then in the morning he did the part where he sings.

They put it all together, and the producer is blown away. That song is somnething totally composed and put together by george, with the help of this producer. Because George had a very difficult time getting the music in his head out in a real performance. But the producer said that when they were done, it was the first tiem that he had known george with the beatles as being truly happy. Because for the first time he's put together something as he truly saw it in his mind and expressed it in the real world, and he knew it was as good as anything that Paul or John could compose. I had always thought hat musical composition was developed by John but I was absolutely wrong.

And then the following day, Paul anmd John hear the finished within and without you, and they were absolutely stunned. Because all the beatles had gone to india. But only george had thought to put together something liek Within and without you. ANd frankly, it was just as ood if not better than the stuff Paul and John had pout on Srgt Pepper. And it did get their goat a little, because Johna and Paul were nothing but prideful men. And it helped george mmensely because let's face it, he's no Paul or John. But once, just once, he came upwith some on their par and he knew it. And they could never again think that he could never be as good as them.

But this program was full of stories like that.
WHile I was checking this, trying to figure out what the hell happened, his mother was reading a book and half-paying attention as I was muttering to myself. When I said, "A-ha! You HAVE been downloading stuff and then deleting them!" He went from denial to "I'm very sorry, Dann. Are you mad at me?" His mother busted out laughing and said, "Well, at least he isn't buying more points and downloading 800 pt games and stuff."

It is hard to be mad, since he can't read yet and only sees the cartoons and thinks, "I like Avatar! I'll watch that!"

You also have to remember, I work in IT. I just heard someone complain that they were getting billed for having MS Project and denied having it...when, sure enough they did. Or someone that upgraded his Notes 5 to Notes 7 because "He felt like it" - even though he has been explicitly told not to - and was pissed at us because it borked up his mail archive templates. Once you deal enough with people who should know better, 3 yr olds are easily forgiven.
I think you should call MS and tell them that your account is missing points and that they reimburse you the missing points. When they tell you that you dl'ed those shows keep insisting that you have no idea what they're talking about and demand to speak to a manager.

It was soemthing they ran on NPR Radio this afternnon. They did long custs and everything. I'm looking on NPR.org now to see if they have a link to the program but it's not listed on their schedule even. But it was this afternoon. I heard the second hour of it between 3-4 I think.

I found a refertence to it. It's on the following web page...

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10627746

In ther uper right there's a link.

Here's the direct link but there's an annoying "please donate" pop-up. But as you scroll down there are links to listen to the whole program.

The tri wing screwdriver, maybe? I know you can order from a lot of different places online.
specifically a triwing screwdriver, smartass.
Anywhere online. Are you looking to buy it in a b&m store?

Through Ch 2 on Getting Up... surprisingly fun! Of course it could all be downhill from here, but I don't think so. I kinda hope they do a sequel.

I was hoping there was some B&M so I can bypass shipping on a little tool (5 dollars - 10 dollars shipping, my ass)

Just bought a new 360 controller.

That was the second one I've broken. (First one I broke on purpose. This one I dropped on the floor, next to a cup of water -- double damage.)

And my room looks like someone from River City got their ass beat in it. In other words, there's change all over my floor. Camouflaged pant pockets suck shit.

That match was a bust, anyway.

I dropped my controller during that match, and the A button (which is important in Gears of War) was stuck, and my character couldn't even walk fast. No matter how much pressure I put on the left analog stick, he would tip-toe.

Then the connection error alert popped up AS SOON as I pressed the B button to grenade tag someone (and the B button is what you press to leave the game during a connection error).

I think that shaved two years off of my life.

You've officially become the Simpsons' French Waiter of the gaming world. Lemme know whenever you get your foot stuck in a bucket while playing DDR. :D

Holy shit!

In anticipation of the buy Shadowrun PC, get Microsoft Flight Simulator X for free, and that my CC has plenty of both and I'm getting it tomorrow, I already made a listing for Shadowrun on Ebay for $38.

It already sold!

Now I'll just go tomorrow, get Shadowrun, box it up, ship it off, and I've got myself a free Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

That also sells for $35 - $40... potential for some really quick easy money.

{Snipped Beatles Stories}
Yeah, I read about that in one of my Beatles books. John even said later about George's music writing [Paraphrased] "Well, of course he was good, he was with us [meaning John and Paul] all the time." John was a dick like that.

Some have said that since George was the youngest, he was never viewed as more than "Tagalong little brother" - even up to the end.

Now I really want to dig some of my books out of storage...

Jesus card has to have two parts.; One part where if he gets hit by any damage or for any other reason he instantly goes to the graveyard. But after three turns he can be returned from the gtrave and game over. So basically you have three turns to defeat your opponent before he pulls the messiah.

Speaking of Shadowrun I saw a disc only copy of the XB360 version that was on ebay already. How the fuck does one already not have the case and manual?

Yea, as Admiral said, thievery... I saw a TON of stolen games at Circuit City today - they weren't even keeping Mario Party 8 on the floor because people were stealing that much shit.

I knew Shadowrun would come in handy for something - I don't really want Microsoft Flight Simulator X that bad, but shit, free is free. Sold the game in under 8 hours.

I don't think it'll be possible to get CC to give me the Deluxe version instead though, since it says Standard all over the ad
