The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)

1. Windows Media Connect is basically WMP11 now...you can share stuff WITHOUT using Media Center.
2. Once you pull a picture up, I believe there is an option to set as a background
3. Unsure
4. Why does this matter? I think you need a TV tuner in your PC....you should know if you TV has a built in tuner....this does NOT effect Media Center.
5. Not sure if there is a copy option from Media Center...you may have to throw on a flash drive to copy directly to the 360. I never copy over, just stream.

you mean the coupon? I tried that a week ago at 2 GSs and they wouldn't take it.

I got $50 bbv credit so I'm gonna transfer with a few games and transfer a preorder there. Plus gotta return that gow psp for $215.xx gs credit while I'm there.
 
Honestly, I find the media center options to be horrible. It takes forever for the sample pictures to load for all the videos. It's much easier to just share everything through WMP and then you can just view the titles in the selected folders on your 360.
 
Is there multiple versions of the guitar hero: aerosmith for the Wii? do the bundled ones still have upcs that will ring up? Just curious if anyone knows

If you are cool with the GS employees, get the bonus trade card for Madden 09. Its the little black card that lets you get $40 for NCAA 09 :)ps3: :360: gets $40, :wii: gets $30, :ps2: :psp: are excluded) if you put it towards Madden 09. Then either keep or return the Madden 09 for something else. Offer expires 8/17/08.

I certainly am. Having just one Gamerush near me would make flipping infinitely easier. As it stands, there aren't any in my state (or even neighboring states from what I can see).

thanks for the list. Spent the morning over a cup of coffee and Gamestop.com searching the store locator for copies. A lot of these are going to be tough finds, but should be able to get enough to make the trip worthwhile.
Now to decide if I want to deal with taking the kids to the mall. In between the two gamestops in the mall is a Disney Store and a Build a bear.
Not BB related, but if going to get games to flip...wii sports, Pikmin 2, SW Jedi Knight II Outcast and Metal Gear Twin Snakes are all decent flips to ebay for cash.

They're all the biggest Wii drops, although I'm not sure when they happened. I'll give BBV a call sometime during my break, but if one of you guys wants to check on the tradein values, that'd be pretty nice.

Maybe you should check some DS trade in prices first, for the most part you would need to be buying games for under $5 to be worthwhile. The only time I've really heard much about a DS flip was from people buying SNK Cardceptors DS for $2 at Sears and trading it in for $9

Oh okay. Cross that one off the possibles, then.

The coupon should always be active starting on friday, so any time today would be fine to use it. Maybe you can write down the code and take it with you, but that might be a pain in the ass if there aren't Gamestops very close to you.

It's funny, because I just got the email right now and I have my laptop (obviously). I already wrote down the code but I'll have my laptop in the car - I can show them the email, maybe they can scan it off the screen if they won't input the code ;). But my battery is almost out.

I looked and Escape from Bug Island is not available AT ALL at home, but is at a couple of places here, including the one I was going to go to anyway to get SST. So I'll give it a shot!

You have to go to one of the participating stores. There are two near your location (Buena Park Mall and Magnolia and Lincoln). It's a regional deal so only a few stores take part in it. I dumped all my high value games there in order to amplify the deal.

I just checked the GS website, and Chicken Little starts at $14.99, so it should be $9.74 after coupon & edge. Am I missing something?

Got a new (used) controller from gamestop today. Thing is, I go to sync it to my 360 but dies on me - wtf?! I`ll be returning it but I don`t know what to do now.

While at Blockbuster today I saw Mario Party DS new for $19.99, might have been a pricing error though. Also picked up Gran Turismo 5 Prologue used for $24.99.

The one I bought rang up for 19.99. I guess the in-store price hasn't updated yet. Should've looked at it more closely. I was paying attention more to the trade in ratios.

If you can get it for 9.74, then it's a good flip. :)
 
I have a wireless network in my house, it works because I can utilize my mp3 player to access the internet to download music. I just bought the network adapter from stootsi, and it won't recognize the wireless signal. The red light on the adapter stays on, and no signal is recieved. Do I have to change a setting in the xbox? I went to the network settings and wireless network wasn't an option. The belkin wireless router is only one room away about 10-15 feet.

Thanks in advance for any help! I want to play!

Printed 2 Coupons, Guy wont let used the 2nd one, said 1 per customer, gatta come back tomorrow, sadly its the only GS with Wii titles i want.

Meh, that would have been more trouble than it was worth - same for going to a Kinkos or something. It turns out I didn't need to anyway, as the store I went to get SST at just typed the code in for me (though, according to him, they wouldn't normally do that).

In any case, with SST and 3 Wii games I turned $36.36 from GS into $77 at Blockbuster. Very nice indeed. There's another Escape from Bug Island that I might swing by and get later and just take home to trade - but that involves convincing another clerk to type the code. We'll see how I feel after doing some desert landscaping work ;). I may just decide to call it a day flipping-wise, eat out at one of my old haunts, come back and play FF IV on the DS all evening, then just get ready to go home.

I updated the second post with "good through 8/16" on all the games people have actual trade quotes for so far. Really, they are probably safe through 8/17 as things seem to drop Monday now and not Sunday (or Tuesday) - but to be safe so no one gets mad at me I'll keep Saturday. Then if they stay steady through Tuesday I'll bump those dates to next Saturday.

At the Blockbuster I went to, they were pulling several guides including Mario Galaxy. It's too bad they don't penny them like other places.
 
Castlevania was dropped at GS to 17.99 used, no longer 24.99 or 26.99. I was going to pick up a copy to move some 1-1 credit back to GS.... but it was a no go.

Also, saw Jeanne D'Arc for PSP at 19.99 (looks new) and about a dozen games I've never seen before at like 16.99->24.99.

I'm gonna flip 2 games, keep re4 wii. And try and find a few cheap games at BBV so i can get the bonus on a few games I have at GS.

also at a BBV they were selling the mgs4 guides for $0.99. The plastic was ripped on all of them, but is this a thing at all BBVs. I may have grabbed one if the shrink wrap was at least partially on one of them.

yeah I think it was a ymmv thing. They had a makeshift sign too, and only about 5 guides by the register. But they were all damaged, the shrink wrap was almost gone and they were scratched up from whatever cause the shrink wrap to rip. So never-mind I mentioned it.

Doesn't say you saved by buying used at the end
