The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)
I still want to know what you meant by the MCR coupons at BBV?

Just to give a bit more info, there are several other games that they sell new at regular Blockbusters that aren't listed in the OP (I only have the "clearance sale" ones and preorders in there - there are lots of other regular MSRP ones). So there's plenty to choose from if you have credit to burn.
Yeah, I meant the $75 Blockbuster gift certificate (which was actually broken up into $15 cards). Looks like I'll have to look around a little bit; I was hoping to maybe break it up into Yakuza 2 and Viva Pinata 2, though I'm not sure how likely finding Yakuza 2 at BBV is going to be. Maybe I'll just end up using that Best Buy $10 off $75 coupon for those two and save my BBV certificate for Fallout 3 or Saints Row 2 or Wario Shake It or ow my wallet.

Just called and Rockband-Game Only (360) held at $32 TIV. I'm heading up before work to trade it in and preorder RB2. They should have it at midnight Sat/Sun as well, which is freaking awesome. Late Saturday nights are Rockband nights, so we will have RB2 for it this week. :D

After my dental appt this afternoon, I'm gonna have to check my local CC for copies of DW: G for 360 and PS3. But after having gone there just yesterday and seeing the clearance bins picked over(probably due to that 20% more off clearance sale a couple weeks ago), I doubt they have them.

But for $35 each for the 360 copies, I think I'd be willing to search a bit in their cases.

what's the trade in on gh3 for 360? I saw a copy of gh2 at BB on Thursday for 44. Which might of been a mistake.
anyone traded in NFL head coach for 360 or ps3 ??
I tried to check the TIV on NFL Head Coach for the PS3 but the manager at my store couldn't find it in the system. She looked under NFL Head Coach and Head Coach but said it wasn't in there. She told me to call back and tell her how the title was listed on the disc...

If I ever track down a copy of Madden 09 SE I'm hoping to trade in Head Coach for around $30.

I too asked today about NFL Head Coach 09 and manager said same thing, not in the system. She said to bring it in to scan it to find out for sure.

So the first RB still gets $32. Guess I'll use the new "transfer to RB2" tool and then trade it in so I'll still "have" the first one.

Then I'll be trading that bad boy in towards RB2.

EDIT: Changed to not sound like an idiot.

Sorry, guess I just scanned through it looking for other deals.

Nice. I doubt my store will be doing this even though they are pushing hard for the midnight launch of Star Wars Force Unleashed. I almost feel bad I haven't preordered that. I doubt they will have that many people there. I would show up for the Rock Band 2 midnight release if they did one. The problem is, otherwise this store is only open till 10 or 11 Saturday night so I guess I'll have to wait till Sunday.

And in case anyone missed it, I asked about the drums and they said they have none on order. So I'll have to head up to Gamestop Sunday anyway to pick those up (hoping they have them - I should probably see if I can preorder them this week).

Anyway, now I can hold on to Rock Band 1 until Saturday then trade it in to pay off the rest of my RB2 preorder (I already put $30 down). We just got into the Rock Band thing last week so we have lots of playing of the first game to do ;). I'd be tempted to keep the first one for the cheese, but the cheap ass in me is pushing me to get $32 for it while I can. I can always pick it up at some later date for the achievements if I feel I have time for that (probably not with RB2 and GHWT - I can't take too much of these games ;)).

One more question about Rock Band, and then I promise I'll leave all of you alone. ;)

Do you believe all Blockbuster's will actually receive the game on Sunday? I am going to trade in the first and preorder the second game soon, but I want to be sure that it'll be in then, so I don't miss out on too much.

Yeah, I think so. For one thing, it is a "featured" preorder and they have been getting those on time. Also, since this is a Sunday release that means it is actually being shipped to stores in advance and not for delivery on that very day. So chances are they will have it by Friday, actually. This is the way it worked with SSBB and Mario Kart I believe.
Hmm. . . .all this talk of trading in RB makes me wonder if the ps3 version will hold its $30 value until RB2 is released in October.
Well, I hate to break it to you, but it seems like it is already down to $26 for some reason (whymustiregister posted that on the last page).

Went out for some flipping today:

Circuit City:

Scored a Dynasty Warriors Gundam in clearance bin for 8.96
Wii: Alone in the Dark 16.96

Game Stop:
Flipped Earth Defense Force (10.50)/Virtua Fighter 5 (14.90) /Golden Compass(7.75) for total of 33.15 from Blockbuster

Used Cell Coupon for xtra 20% off and got:
360 Cabela's Trophy Bucks-12.59
360 Cabela's Big Game Hunter-12.59
360 WSOP 2008-13.99

Blockbuster
Flipped games
DWG: 33
Alone: 30
Trophy: 19
Big Game: 12
WSOP: 12

So Cabela's has officially dropped-boo. Still made some good flip $ though.

Did DW: Gundam ring up at $8.96 or was it mispriced? I assume it was for the PS3 since you got $33 for it.
Ouch, some big drops there!
Damn my lazy ass. I knew I should have traded those in on Saturday. Oh well, at least I only have Trophy Bucks so still good.

to whoever asked if DW:G was mispriced it was (and also correct on ps3). It rang up for 16.96 but the sticker said 8.98 or whatever and the cashier said, "oops, our mistake. we'll give it to you at that price."

I love a little good karma.
has anyone seen their BBV's restocked any time recently with the FRAMED Artwork of the Joker - Why So Serious poster?
Sonic, I was checking our OPEN ASN today at work (which is like an order sheet) and we're scheduled to receive a joker framed art. I'm not sure whether it is the why so serious or the playing cards one. It'll be in on wednesday. PM me if you want to try and figure out some way to get it to you.

So think that chances are pretty small that there would be an odd, mid-week drop on the Rock Band TIV?

I ask because I now understand that Gamestop is expecting to get the RB2 drums for sale tomorrow (apparently they are not street dated). So I'd like to keep RB1 until Saturday so I have something to play with until I get RB2 on Sunday.

On the other hand, I want to make sure I get the $32!!!

there's a legitimate shot that it won't be $32 after tonight.
there's a legitimate shot that it won't be $32 after tonight.
Unlikely, but the way to be sure is to see what the sale price is for RB used. When I asked yesterday it was still $49.99 so I figured the TIV would hold today and it did. Now, sure, it is possible for them to drop it a bit even without the used sale price dropping. GS does that all the time, but BB much less so.

Rock Band is still a $59.99 MSRP game - there's little reason for them to drop it just yet.

Edit - bornrunnin31, I didn't read that thread but that is the sort of attention our little hobby doesn't need . Still, I think it will hold till next weekend at least. I hope...

Edit #2 - OK, I just read it. Someone there says they are selling it for $32?? Unless they just mis-typed that (and meant trade-in). But someone needs to check that ASAP.

Friendly reminder that the Wii Sweepstakes is end today at closing time, so start a pre-order or paying off the balance today.
Also noticed the price drops today. I went to 3 Blockbusters but only checked the prices at one (weird power outages around here) and saw a couple new possible BB->GS flips:

Sega Rally Revo 9.99
Spiderman Friend or Foe 9.99

Also saw a few of the ones io listed, I'll check other BBs for more tomorrow.
Both SRR & SFOF should be $9.99 -> $10.50, which isnt bad considering nearly every BB by me has plenty of both games.

Apparently I was the talk of the town in today's conference call. I was told that a lot of ppl stuck up for me, and they didnt care about my trading because i'd usually spend my credit right there. So, hopefully things will be ok for a bit.

I'm glad I didn't buy the copy of Cranium Kabookii that I saw @ Kmart earlier tonight for $15 before tax, since I thought it still got $30+ in credit.

Oh well.....least I saved myself a headache.

If it holds for this week though, I'll try and score a DW: Gundam or three for some flipping.

I was able to score a lot of clearance titles at CC...somehow..with Alone in the Dark and Death Jr. for Wii, Eternal Sonata for 360, and 2x DWG for PS3. Pretty nice deal

also picked up the Iron Man bobble head doll which i will have to post pics of later. OH and picked up a Wii 2000 Pts card for Super Mario RPG (cuz that game is frikin amazing...)

Thanks for the head's up about alone in the dark and DW Gundam. I tried to find copies of both, but could only get an alone in the dark. Able to trade it in for the price quoted. Even though today is the last day to enter the wii contest, aren't the winners not announced/picked until sometime in October? I'd still be interested in seeing if this doesn't turn out to be a sham where managers/friends win the drawings.

Since there was no stipulation in the fine print, any employee that spends over $25 a day has an entry for that day. It's very conceivable that many of the Wiis will go to employees. I was at one BBV where the woman behind the counter was telling someone that they were entered in the contest, but at the same time telling her that pretty much every employee in the store spends at least $25 a day there...

Thanks for the heads up guys, just exported my songs and traded in my Rock Band for a whopping $32!! Getting Rock Band 2 for about half off?? Score!!

I'll be trading my RB disc in tomorrow. I'm not going to wait much longer. With my luck, the price will drop overnight.

Please please pleaseeee stay at $32!

I traded in Rock Band for $32 tonight, and I'll probably pick up Rock Band 2 on Sunday from BB. I won the CAGcast drawing for a $100 Game Stop gift card, so I hope a good GS to BB flip comes along soon. It's good that I got that gift card, because I was running low on cash to play with.

TIV:

Wii
Destroy all Humans - $23

360
DW:Gundam - $35
Hail to the Chimp - $22

I am so glad i got rid of my cabela games yesterday. It was after 11pm Central time if that matters. If any one is looking for some cash->BB credit flip, then DAH is $17 at CC and qualifies for B1G1 50% off sale.(Dont know if it is in-store as well)

I checked the used price of RB and it is still $49.99, so I'm 90% sure the value will hold through the weekend ;).

I picked up the last Pokemon Mystery Dungeon my store had (wanted Time but they only had Darkness - no big deal). This one is to keep.

Hey I'm the guy who started the thread over at the RB forums. Just to let you know an assistant manager to Blockbuster just posted in the thread saying "I can say with 100% certainty that buy back value prices don't change until Sunday. That's when all of the price changes occur for the company." So hope this clears things up a bit around here. You can relax and know the price won't change mid week now. Happy Gaming

lol at that assistant manager. I know what person who I can say I do my job better than. :D
FIFA 08 dropped at BB today for TIV. I think it was $13 (xbox 360), $15 (PS3).
I got the following tonight:
360 - FIFA 08 - $15
360 - Sega Superstars Tennis - $19

Bought back my Octomania for $9.99, and put down $16 on Star Wars for one last Wii contest entry.
Also mailed in one non-purchase entry for each store I shop at. Total entries is around 25 or so, across 10 stores.
Since there was no stipulation in the fine print, any employee that spends over $25 a day has an entry for that day. . . .
I think you're mistaken. Check the rules site. http://www.blockbuster.com/stores/wiiSweepstakesRules
ELIGIBILITY. Each Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who as of 8/5/08 are 18 years or older. So they change on Sunday now?????
So they change on Sunday now?????
negative... hence my post above. The prices of things in the store change on Sundays, but the trade-in prices do not change until Monday or Tuesday.

You know, it's not a bad little unadvertized promo for Blockbuster to basically sell Rock Band 2 for $28 + the trade-in of Rock Band 1. I mean, if it gets them a ton of preorders that can only be a good thing for them. I think RB1 will continue to hold some value for a while - maybe not $50, but they can probably sell them for what they paid for them at least.

But so much for any sort of midnight release party at my store. They have a total of 2 coming in: 1 for rent, 1 for sale. And presumably that 1 for sale is my preorder.

It's too bad both cabela's dropped. Now I have to wait a week just to return them to a brick and mortar store. Too much damn gs credit and not enough time to switch it back.

Did some BBV->GS trades yesterday (GS price includes $5 bonus and Edge):

Star Trek Legacy (360): $9.99->$10.50
Sega Rally Revo (360): $9.99->$10.50
Spider-Man FoF (360): $9.99->$10.50

So these are all good flips for transferring credit.

Also traded in a couple of CC clearance games to BBV:

Fire Emblem: (Wii): $30
AITD (Wii): $30

Does anyone know the TIV of Death Jr. for Wii?
