The Good, the Bad and the Last Movie You Saw

Run Lola Run

Eh, alright. The visual styling and storytelling are both quite intriguingly different at first, but they get kinda tiresome as the film moves on.

The Aviator

Brillant movie. DiCaprio is amazing and I was never a fan of his. Blanchett does Hepburn stunningly accurate.
My Sassy Girl!

one of the best romantic comedies i've ever seen. borrowed from a friend, i need to find my own copy now..
So many people have recommended me to this movie but I still can't find this dvd.

Sympathy for Mr. Revenge

Another one of Chan-wook Park's revenge films. It's also a bit more dramatic than Oldboy.

Tales of Hoffman

Pretty good, though all the singing made the 'dialogue' hard to understand, heh

Also, my 200th Criterion film. Woot?

Mulholland Dr.

So I didn't like it the first time. Several months later and I'm willing to give it another chance.
Um, wow. Simply freaking amazing.

Time to make my long awaited return to the last movie you saw thread, well at least I think it has been long awaited. I mean, I used to be up there with the ranks of Modium and Zman and crymnl.

Anyway, for this post it's all about The 40-Year Old Virgin. excellent film. Steve Carrol masterfully writes a comedy that works on smart sexual humor instead of the usual low brow toilet humor that is usally associated with a type of movie like this. The film will have you cracking up every few minutes. The theatre I saw it in was packed and people were gagging out of their seats at just about every joke. Every actor also works in this film. Simply hilarious. Highly recommended if you want to have good time. great date movie.

Frankly put, and in the most crudest of ways that I shall do so in any one of my reviews, the movie was fucking hilarious. Absolute best comedy of the year and in years. Just fucking hilarious.

8/10.

Edit: Oh and, I really got a catch up on this thread and the last. I mean, I love all the movies you guys post and your reviews, and in particular modium's and zman's.

I think you're talking about Mr. Vengence as I don't remember a Mr. Revenge.

And yeah, you're right, it's def. more dramatic than Oldboy.

and to stay on topic:

Story of Ricki (aka Ricki-Oh) - Best modern B-movie chop socky film. Kept me in stitches. Also has the infamous head-crushing scene used as an avatar/sig by many a forum poster (not necessarily CAG).

I prefer the intestine strangulation attempt.

The Story of Ricky is a classic. The warden keeps breath mints in his glass eye... classic!

"I was paid a lot of money to beat you into mincemeat, and bake you into a pie."

Broken Flowers, at a matinee showing where the median age was pushing 65. Several walked out well before the end, and the rest were genuinely pissed when the credits rolled. I, on the other hand, was absolutely floored--I guess the elderly have yet to develop a taste for Jarmusch.

Transporter 2 - Great Action film, has it's hilarious moments but then it has about 2 scenes that are just impossible...If you're a car fanatic there's some pretty awesome machines waiting for your viewing pleasure. Well paced movie with very little dull moments. I'd recommend it if not in theatres then on dvd.

Stardust Memories

Very good Woody Allen flick. Obviously autobiographical, but I didn't think it was too self-indulgent. Reminded me a whole lot of Fellini's 8 1/2.

Rosemary's Baby

Great horror movie, just really good overall, does a fine job of nailing the creepy atmosphere with a strong basis in reality and some great pacing.

Orpheus

Great great film. A retelling of the Orphic myth in (what was in 1950) modern-day Paris. A well-done, fantastic work.

Probably one of the greatest screenplays / written works known to man. The way you have to unlock pieces to venture forth in understanding that storyline is something to behold.

Transporter 2.

They should have just made him transport more shit. It wasn't that bad, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay.

Agreed! A ture horror classic.

Strangers on a Train

Man, fantastic thriller, easily takes its place as one of my favorite Hitchcocks. A great premise, a classic villain, and some wonderfully suspenseful scenes.

Shame. Yes, it's Bergman, and yes, it's great.
Oh yeah, and I watched In Good Company last night. Also "meh," but at least Scarlett was in it.
I've been thinking of picking that one up. 'Cause, you know, that Topher Grace is just too cute. ;)

But really it's Scarlett ...

True Romance - Simply put, you could tell that this is a movie of Tarentino through and through and should have been directed by him. If it had been it probably wouldn't have some of its faults that it has, but I'm not going to hold them against it since it is still a great movie. Classic razor sharp dialogue. 8/10.
Sometimes in April. it's like hotel rwanda x5
Strange, I just saw Pieces of April last night with a girl named April. Hmmm... :whistle2:s

That Katie Holmes movie? Was it any good?
That Katie Holmes movie? Was it any good?
It's funny. I liked it. Not your typical KH movie.

The Godfather - Classic!
Sin City - Awesome movie
The Brothers Grimm - It was ok. My 10 yr old son enjoyed it more than me.

Not a movie but what the hell...

Entourage Season One

The show was great but I wish they had more episodes and I wish all the episodes was an hour long. I get a kick out of every scene that has Ari and Johnny Drama

Seven Swords.

What a piece of crap. Tsui Hark has finally fell off.
It was like watching a musical verison of The Blade.

Million Dollar Baby

Just an amazing movie. Very powerful and emotional. Great performances from everyone. Gave me a nice depressed feeling at the end and I was choked up.
Wizard of Oz (with Dark Side of the Moon soundtrack)
That one is amazing
