The Good, the Bad and the Last Movie You Saw

40 Year Old Virgin. Great movie, the best comedy of the year so far. I liked the soundtrack, too, especially at the end of the movie. I'm looking to see Wedding Crashers this weekend, which I've heard is funny, too.
L'Avventura

I wanted to like it, I really did, but instead I nearly went insane with boredom.
I'm sorry. Maybe this guy's films are a little more suited for you.
The Machinist- Very creepy. I cannot beleve how skinny Batman was in the movie.
Bale made that movie before Batman so it would be more correct to say that 'I can't believe he bulked so quickly for Batman'.

Young Torless

Pretty good film, if a little boring in spots. Though, I think just about everyone could relate to the theme of complacency present.
Just saw the Brothers Grimm.

Not terrible not great. I swear to god that "Angelica" looked just like Kiera Knightley.
I heard Miramax fought with (director) Gilliam throughout the entire production and post-production. Probably would have wound up a lot better if the producers would realize that they're the money-men and not creative in the least bit.

As for the last movie I saw, I watched "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" a few days ago. One of the better comedies in recent years. Loved it.

I watched the ring 2(last night). I did not really care for it. It was not scary , not even as good as the first one.(after watching the eye, I don't know if these movies will be that scary anymore)

And tonight I watched Ned Kelly. It was ok, I couldn't understand what they were saying half of the time because of some irish accents.

Literally just finished "The Aviator", and had absolutely no idea that it was Scorsese until the end credits rolled. I'd've gotten around to it sooner had I known he was the director.

You mean you couldn't tell from how long and drawn out it was? Good movie, just a little too long.

Watched the director's cut of Alexander and also watched Oldboy this weekend. Oldboy is a bit overrated but still pretty good. It's ending was quite ridiculous though. Alexander wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be but it's got way too many flaws to consider it. The theatrical version could have been a lot worse though so I dunno.
Red Eye. Totally kickass.
In all honesty, that movie looks pretty good to me.
Fat Girl

Very good movie. But the ending...wtf? At least I know Subs would approve. ;)
I was going to buy that the last DeepDiscountDVD sale... It didn't make the final cut, but I'm still interested in seeing it.

And to start the Mini Hitchcock Marathon, North By Northwest.
Should'a started with "Rope"... to set the strange, Nihilist mood.

I thought that, but then I decided on alphabetical. So Psycho's next, then Rear Window, then Rope, and finally Vertigo. (Yeah, I need to improve my collection. Hopefully I'll be getting the Wrong Men & Notorious Women set this week.)

Unless I change my mind and go straight to Rope now.

Just saw The Sixth Sense. Makes so much more snese, no pun intended, when you know he's, you know, dead, in the beginning.
Red Eye. Totally kickass.
just got back from this movie 30 minutes ago...it was really good, but very short...and i must mention that it would'nt have been half as good if Rachel McAdams didn't play in it...shes the hottest piece of ass since....i dunno

Alphaville

Really, really weird and strange. I liked parts of it, didn't really like other parts, and couldn't make head or tails of it most of the time. I really can't say whether or not I liked it overall, it was just too strange for me to really comprehend.

Slacker

Oh Linklater, how I tried. Yet, your faux-intellectual ramblings are far more suited for your Xanga blog than on the big screen. Now go remake Ladybugs.

No The Birds, Dial M for Murder, the Man who Knew too Much or Strangers on a Train?

Donnie Darko = interesting but wasnt as great as people said it was.

Saving Private Ryan. After watching Band of Brothers 10 times no WW2 movie can impress me anymore.

The Bridge on the River Kwai and Slackers. BotRK was pretty good while Slackers was pretty funny. I liked seeing a bunch of familiar actors in Slackers like Laura Prepon, Mike Maronna (Pete & Pete), Devon Sawa and others.

Office space= very Funny
Gladiator= 3 DISC collectors edition, was my fav movie 3 years ago, and still the BEST movie :).
Guess Who= pretty stupid
American Physco= alright film, pretty crazy, Bale pulls it off though
Devil Rejects= WAY BETTER then the first one (1,000 corps)

I just watched
In the Mood for Love,
2046
Both are really good movies, but I feel like a nancy boy for liking them since they're romance movies. Tony Leung is a sexy man though...

Watched the director's cut of Brazil, hmm, it just seems to be the more Gilliam movies I watch the more I come to realize that his film style just doesn't gel with me. I've been genuinely entertained by a couple of his films, mildly amused by a few, and genuinely bored during several others. Oh well, guess he's just not my cup o' tea.

Your opinion sucks and it's wrong!!! ;)

I love Gilliam's style... feels very surreal and dream-like. Reminds me a lot of Federico Fellini atmospherically, in that regard. Gilliam's cinematography style is very cool, too. The worm's eye view during conversation scenes adds to that dream-like look. I also enjoy how cluttered the scenes are.

I hope The Brothers Grimm is a little entertaining... Hollywood appears to have bastardized it. I just hope a little Gilliam is intact.

But, wow... is Brazil an incredible movie. Retro-future... No specific time or place... very Orwell-ion. De Niro's character (Harry Tuttle) having a New York accent was a touch of sublte brilliance.

Not yet.

At least in the case of The Birds I have an excuse: It fucking sucks. ;)

Even if it is bastardized, hopefully the magic of dvd will bring a semi-restored version of the film to light for Gilliam's fans.
