the I WON A 360 thread

must resist urge to be a smart-ass...must...ahhhhh

Well, I won a xbox 360, but when i plugged it in, it transformed into a midget. The midget then kicked me in the balls, after I recovered I follwed him in my 14th century samuari armor to his house. I then ran to him while he was making a hungry man tv dinner in his home, I then sneaked to him and kicked him in the balls. He then transformed into squirrels and scattered away, then i ate his hungry man tv dinner and watched tv in his home, claiming his land in the name of sisco. But every time I see a squirrel, I always wondered what it would have been to have really one that 360.

Yeah, i won last night too and i keep refreshing my inbox and the account history page waiting to get confirmation
 
They could be going over accounts making sure people are not scamming with 100+ starter codes since all your code inputs are kept in your account history. The only reason I mention this is because someone said that the starter codes were mostly letters where the bottle cap codes were mostly numbers or something like that.
 
I won tonight as well yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I think it's going to take a while to confirm just because there are so many winners. Think about it one evrey 10 minutes. It's a contest I'm not surprised for these people to be moving slowly. They are proably way understaffed for people to be calling and all the crap that goes along with a contest. I've also heard people saying stuff about the pass it on stuff but I mean thats just how the contest works. From evreything I've read in the rules and what not. I don't think they can disqualify some of these guys because they didn't buy tons of mountain dew to get there codes, but intest used the pass it on feature. Go read the rules you will see what I'm talking about.
 
I LOST!!! I had 198 out of 325 codes at 11:00 (Central) when I last checked. There were a lot of other contests w/ less codes than me. I had a good feeling. I wake up and find out that there are now 911 codes in my time slot! I almost cried! And then I lost. If only I had sent myself more codes!
 
Generally speaking, it takes an extraordinary circumstance to reverse results of a contest. It was THEIR system that allowed you to enter starter codes like that -- I mean really, how could they not know that was going to happen from the outset? Likely, they just never thought it would happen in the amount that it did. Either way, they didn't have a "safeguard" intact, which isn't the "fault" of those who entered and won that way.

That being said, I would certainly anticipate them honoring every winner. It's not as if this went on for weeks -- they'll have to honor it for the 36 hours or so, but they've already elliminated the "pass it on" codes so it's not going to be a factor for them from here on in....and it's not as if they don't have a ton of 360's to give away over the next couple of months.

One other thing -- I noticed some people SELLING codes and multiple email accounts (!) on ebay. Chances are that this is the kind of thing why they pulled the forwarding codes, perhaps more than just one individual stockpiling them for a 1-time shot at glory. :)

I had 100 codes about 60 caps and 40 invites, like i said earlier i work in a factory and everyone saves for me so i just dropped them all in like an hour before the drawing.

Could somebody explain to me the sending codes to e-mails or whatever that is really quick? Not really quick as in right away, but just a little explanation.

When the contest started MD and Pepsi sent out e-mails to their respective mailing lists (I actually get both). The e-mails had two things that caught people's eye
1) a free code for the "every10minutes" drawing, and
2) a 'pass this on to a friend' link that created 5 more e-mails (with new codes).

We CAG's flooded the system, and some of us (particulary those with gmail invites to burn) came out better than others. Pepsi realized how the system was being exploited, and shut down the referral system.


Anyway, props to Shady, Shipwreck and the other winners.
 
congrats to you shady. How long did u have to wait for the confirmation email? I won tues morning at 3 so its been almost 40 hours for me.

i have my own website so i just sent myself a bunch of pass the code emails and they all bounced to one email address. one code was legit though cuz i did buy a 1 liter pepsi.

get this I put in codes for the 8-31-05 12:10pm drawing...I live in Columbus OH and my initials are S.P. ... someone in columbus ohio won and initials are S.P. for that time slot....but I havent received an email or anything saying that I won...I mean what are the chances that someone else with the same initials in the same town entered the exact same drawing as me!!! but I still don't think it was me...am I being a pessimist(sp?)

this wait is going to kill me...

I won monday night and still have not recieved either confirmation via email or on the site. I called the number to update your mailing address in case you move between when you win and the delivery date and i got a REALLY NICE person on the phone who after i told them all my info and the date and time of my drawing she confirmed that i was indeed a winner and that emails are taking every bit of 3 business days because they are swamped.........

I pm'ed a couple other winners here and noone else has been given any info at all over the phone. I got really lucky with my operator because even she said she wasnt allowed to give out any info that you have to wait for the email confirmation.................... So looks like your gonna be waiting a bit more.:cry:

Well boo-hoo for you. Sorry but I don't think a system that had NO safeguards in place for this, and also never explicitly mentioned it in the rules, is anything BUT an exploit OR a scam. Did you see where it explicitly says "NO PURCHASE NECESSARY" and purchasing a Pepsi product DOESN'T increase your odds of winning?

I think it's far more likely the email code forwarding ended because they ran out of the allotted codes than, say, the Xbox365 website "snitched." Look at the rules and they give out free codes through snail mail -- but they have "limited supplies". Who's to say THAT'S not the reason the code forwarding ended?

Maybe they didn't anticipate the amounts of people forwarding codes, and maybe I'm giving them far more credit than they deserve, but let's face it: how could they NOT realize this might happen before it did? If it was a scam or exploit, they could have come up with a system that REALLY limited the amounts of entires you could have, or they could have invalidated the winners. Neither happened.

Congrats to anyone who wins IMHO. People who complain after the fact are likely kicking themselves right now they didn't think of it first :)
