The "Is This Game Rare?" Thread
sucks that Robot Alchemic Drive isnt rare. I still got a sealed copy.
thats worth around $44.. check out the link up ^^^

im sure somewhere someone paid that much for it, it could be amazon.
sucks that Robot Alchemic Drive isnt worth more money. I still got a sealed copy.
It's rare indeed, but doesn't command a high asking price.

This thread used to be informative but now it's just where lazy folks or fakers seem to post. I mean come on.....Can't you just do a search on eBay for most of this? And some of the posts just seem too far fetched to believe. "Oh I have Earthbound...is it worth anything?" Or "I found a sealed Panzer Dragoon Saga for a dollar in a Walmart bin"... is it just me, or do some of these posts just seem...fake?

well, i could probably list myself under the 'uninformed' category, more so than the lazy and i'm definitely not a faker. but now that someone posted the link for the video game prices & values, that isn't so much the truth and quite frankly i'll probably never have to use this thread again.
hmmm is Dragon Seeds for playstation one rare at all?
It is pretty rare for a PS1 game, probably around $30-$40 bucks complete, double that for sealed.

sealed copies of ICO keeps going up :)
I remember when I picked up a copy for $15 at BestBuy in 2002 or 2003 thinking it would be rare one day. But I thought about picking up a second copy to play. I didn't but a few days after I got home, I became really interested in the game since so many people said it was such a great game so I opened that one copy and really enjoyed it.

Too bad I didn't pick up that second copy.:whistle2:( Oh well.

Sorry but that was a genuine question.

I asked this question in the Old school forum, but Ill ask here too. I bought an Amiga CD32 console at a flea market for $10. Is this console rare? I think its only import only, does anyone know any info on it?

Not that rare, I see it in the open market a lot. Still, $10 is a good deal (not the greatest steal but still decent)
It's a shame my sealed original XBox games aren't worth anything anymore.. Fatal Frame 2, Guy Game, Conker..
I don't know much about Xbox games too much but Fatal Frame 2 and the Guy Game are pretty rare- sealed copies should be worth a decent amount I'd think.

*cries a little inside* About 4 or 5 years ago I went to an RC Wiley just for kicks with my wife and they had a whole wall full of "budget" games. There were like 6 or 7 sealed ICO's for $10 a pop. I'm still kicking myself for not picking those up. Of course, that's before I was a CAG!

Fatal Frame 2 isnt that rare, but still the fact that its sealed make it worth up to like 30 bucks. Same for Conker.

Guy Game is a bit rarer, I'd value it at around $50 to $60 sealed

those sites are great indeed.. but unfortunately, the prices they show are average prices.

btw, ICO sells for $150 now. crazy. i am sitting with 3 sealed copies and i still refuse to sell it for that. maybe its just a greed thing.
You could probably get a non sealed one on Ebay for around $40- $50. (still alot, but half of the price of a sealed copy)
I remember when PSO Plus was released, ebay was SWAMPED with tons of new sealed copies and most of them sold for like 26$, thats when I got one.

The sad thing, is that my copy snapped in half when I was pulling it out from the case.

Ebay is not always a reliable indicator for a value of an item (though it is many times a good one). Yes, you could say that what people are willing to pay for an item is, in the end, what its worth. But take, For example, this auction. Does this man a PS2 is worth $1000? I don't think so.
Those are not rare
I imagine Santa Claus Saves the Earth is somewhat rare. Ninja Five-0 as well.

Just found a sealed copy of Marvel vs Capcom (Dreamcast) sealed at a pawn shop for $2.50 o_O bought that so quick. Is this going for much yet?

Yeah, I would value it at around $100

Trying to unload a lot of my original Xbox games while they're still worth $1.00 and caught that a lot KOTOR 2 sealed is showing $60 plus on Amazon, Half and Ebay. Is it rare enough that I actually bother trying to get that?

a year ago i found a guy on ebay that was selling kotor 1 with signatures from Bioware. unique item. it sold for $15 i forgot to bid :(

I know the feelings. It's right behind, "I saw X amount of copies of _________ for $__ but I passed on them and now they sell for $$$$$$$".

I hate how every sealed game I own ends up being worthless or gets reprinted (fucking Atlus and their lies).

atlus became smarter. i dont doubt that other older titles will get reprinted again. now even the original persona is rumored for the psp.. with the ps1 already at an insane price.. i can only hope they will reprint the ps1 version to bring the price of it on the second hand market, just like they did with persona 2

Yea at this point Atlus and NISA games are much more likely to get a reprint as they seems to know their demand.

Ah, same thing happens to me all the time, teaches me not to wait until the last hour to bid, in hopes that everyone else watching forgets to bid, but if you forget too, well, you're screwed. Well, it does work every now and then, but forgetting to bid is in a sense, "nature's way" of saving you money ;)

Yeah, they're definitely not a safe bet for collectors value anymore. I do wonder though, how this will affect them in the long run.
Are those games hard to find then?

in my area i cant find those games
They stopped making GBA games (besides some of those kids games) a while ago and most stores stopped carrying them and/or cleared out remaining stock. Yes, that makes them hard to find but that doesn't mean anything in terms of collectivity or monetary value. Atari games are hard to find but 99% of them aren't worth shit.

Of all the games you listed, I think only Ninja Five-O is worth a significant amount of money and was really rare. Minish Cap is mildly rare too I think.

A sealed Minish cap would be very hard to find. A complete is a bit harder, while a cart only isnt hard to find at all.

This isn't so much a "is this rare" question, rather I'd like to know if any of you guys THINK these may become rare in the future by considering whatever factors usually contribute to a game being rare/valuable. The DS seems to have the largest collection of rarities compared with all the other current-gen systems, so I'm making that platform the focal point of my inquiry:

Super Princess Peach - I don't see this game much anywhere, I almost forgot it even existed. Was this a limited print?

World Ends with You - I'm tempted to pick this game up because it seems so unique, but it's still @ 40 bucks everywhere. I'd rather wait for it to go on sale, but there's always the possibility that it will only go up in price so I'm trying to figure out if I should jump on it now

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin/Order of Ecceslia - Castlevania games seem to come in two flavors: super pricey and cheap as dirt. I'm curious as to which category these two games will fall into.

I don't remember the name of the other game I wanted to ask about, it was some sort of creative musical tinkering thing. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It's not the korg emulator I'm thinking of.

Portable games usually get smaller print so they can become hard to find.

Super Princess Peach - the game is almost 2 years old and it is going to be out of print by now.
TWEWY - was hard to find after a while but there was a second shipment so it is everywhere now

Castlevania - just about every game (SotN, 3 GBA games, and Dawn of Sorrow) has been reprint or port so I dont see how it is pricey.

Not the Korg DS 10 simulation? How about Electroplankton? Or Rhythm 'N Notes?

I think Super Princess Peach got a reshipment in over the holidays. It was in the TRU ad and I've seen it it mass quantities at various TRU's.

TWEWY also had a reshipment, and a price drop to $29.99.

I agree with you on Castlevania, though even though they have had reprints, they are still relatively pricey because they are sought after and wanted. For example the Castlevania 2 pack seems to be going for a decent amount now.

Yea it was strange that only TRU got Super Princess Peach, but nintendo did reprint a bunch of their DS games so it is not so unusually.

The collectability for sealed DS games is usually marred by the cheap Chinese bootlegs that flood eBay and bring the price down on the genuine copies. A sealed copy of Tetris DS used to be worth something and now, thanks to Chinese bootlegs, they are only worth around $40.

princess peach isnt oop i think. just hard to find atm. TRU has a bunch of them still at full price. they were oop sometime last year but before black friday i saw them restock these. alot of other major retailers have probably order them and just waiting to get restocked. mario kart wii is still pretty hard to find in stores and sells for twice as much last christmas.

It all depends on your area I guess. I see copies of Mario Kart Wii everywhere. Princess Peach is only avaliable at TRU, but still plentiful.

That's it! It was electroplankton!

I was always under the impression that games like SOTN fetched a higher price(even after it became available on PSN/SNLA), I thought I once heard that one of the GBA was quite valuable too. I also sold my GB copy of Castlevania Legends for like $35

as for SOTN, it doesn't fetch as much as it used to be since its available through PSN and XBLA. you can buy it as low as $15 nowadays and with the PSP port now also a GH title, the value have really come down.. before the ports, it used to sell for $40-$60 and one cag i remember sold it for $500 used including the official guide (i remember seeing a post about it almost 2 years ago).

as for the GBA, before OOE for the DS came out, there was a couple of sealed Circle of the Moon that sold for $200.

I have capcom vs marvel 2 for xbox. I bought it at costco for a little over 30 bucks when it first came out a few years ago (2003, I think). A friend recently saw I had it and asked if I would sell it to him for 50 bucks. I was shocked at told him I only paid 30 bucks for it and that was when it was new...but I would look for one for him online and it would probably be way cheaper than 50 bucks...I haven't been able to find one,...is this a rare game?
