The "Is This Game Rare?" Thread

Been meaning to ask this for some time now. I saw at a store a Tony Hawk's Project 8 game for the XBOX. It was a limited edition and it came with a Project 8 Skate Deck (I think that's what it's called). It was a skatebaord but not sure if it had wheels or if it was just the actual board. Is this rare at all?

Yes I realize Tony Hawk games aren't worth anything but I hadn't ever seen or heard of this limited edition.
as for SOTN, it doesn't fetch as much as it used to be since its available through PSN and XBLA. you can buy it as low as $15 nowadays and with the PSP port now also a GH title, the value have really come down.. before the ports, it used to sell for $40-$60 and one cag i remember sold it for $500 used including the official guide (i remember seeing a post about it almost 2 years ago).

as for the GBA, before OOE for the DS came out, there was a couple of sealed Circle of the Moon that sold for $200.
Symphony of the Night still sells for around $40.00 if you do a Buy it Now listing. Auction styles always end around 30% - 50% less than Buy it Now listings. I tend to take game's values at their "Buy It Now" prices rather than the low end auction prices.

Can anyone please respond and tell me what to do with this final fantasy VII Game for PS1 it is Greatest Hits and all 3 discs in perfect shape with the booklet and original case only having 3 or 4 minor cracks. BTW i bought this game from a friend for only about 5 dollars because he said that it was a piece of crap but i didnt think it was b/c i thought it was valuable or so i heard.....

There was actually a sequel to that game? That is one thing that i didnt know. Well i never heard of it at all, it could possibly be a rarity but idk.
I have capcom vs marvel 2 for xbox. I bought it at costco for a little over 30 bucks when it first came out a few years ago (2003, I think). A friend recently saw I had it and asked if I would sell it to him for 50 bucks. I was shocked at told him I only paid 30 bucks for it and that was when it was new...but I would look for one for him online and it would probably be way cheaper than 50 bucks...I haven't been able to find one,...is this a rare game?
it should be less than the ps2 and dc versions. maybe $10-$20 less. if you were to sell it right now, i suggest selling it BIN

Yes I realize Tony Hawk games aren't worth anything but I hadn't ever seen or heard of this limited edition.
it is but its not worth a whole lot of money. i remember buying it at target when they put it on clearance, got one for nearly $30. its a cool thing to have but its like a madden collectors or limited edition... they dont hold a value very much. just keep it and maybe in 5 years it'll be worth more than $100 :). i warn you though, finding a box that will fit that gigantic thing isn't easy. i traded mine to a cag and after 3 days i just decided to create my own from a regular cardboard box.

I saw a sealed PS1 Dinocrisis at HPB. I didn't want it, but was wondering if it was worth the $6. (the sealed packaging was sticky with tape residue and minutely slit).

On Amazon the cheapest SOTN is a heavily-scratched disc only copy for almost $30.

It should be worth about $30-$40 - finding someone to buy it is another issue.

An absolute shock to me! I listed a sealed Platinum Hits version of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 on Amazon, pennies below the lowest price, and it sold. How much, you ask?

Item: Star Wars Battlefront II [Xbox]
Condition: New - New
Condition Note: Brand new and sealed! Platinum Hits version!
Listing ID: ***********
SKU: YO-II72-6823
Quantity: 1
Purchased on: 01/28/2009
Buyer's Price: $64.46
Shipping: $3.99

Not bad considering I paid $10 for it a few months back.

Less than a year ago it was worth only around $15. Over the past few months it has gone from $40-$70 sealed (PH or original, both sell for the same amount). I sold one for $50 a little while ago.

re: Symphony of the Night - I still get $40+ for GH versions, the last complete black version I had went for $60 in only two weeks. Sometimes they sit around for a while, but hey, I'm running a store, not trying to make a "quick buck".

This is assuming complete, and in NM/M condition.

I've seen VERY LITTLE drop in value in ANY game due to a being released again - just b/c the game is available for play - sometimes, the original becomes more valuable.

I bet Chrono Trigger (SNES) isn't dropping in price at all right no.
Is RBI tengen for NES worth the $1 they want at goodwill?
Yes, it's a fun game, but its far from being rare.
Yes, it's a fun game, but its far from being rare.
I mean worth reselling or trading for? I really have no interest in playing it, thanks!

Only if it's sealed, otherwise not worth that much, according to the NES Price Guide

Here's one for you guys:

Heavenly Guardian (PS2)

I know it's a piece of crap title (look at Ultimate Duck Hunting for fuck sakes!), but it only came out on the Wii in Japan and the company who localized it (UFO) ported it to the PS2 in the process. I'm thinking somewhat of a limited run here. Might it be worth just letting it sit for, I don't know, a decade or two?

Yeah right now its definetly not worth much, might be worth more in the future but I don't see it climbing really high or anything...also I hope you kept it sealed
Guy Game is a bit rarer, I'd value it at around $50 to $60 sealed
Really, I have a sealed copy of it. Time to put it on Amazon (I don't eBay anymore).

Good, eBay will ban you for selling the game. I got two "account suspension" warnings back in the day for selling it. I've avoided it ever since.

Any ideas on this? The reason I ask is because it has the Star Wars Arcade game on it.

Best Buy seems to have these for $14.99 B&M now. Had quite a few maybe a reprint.

I don't think that game is very rare, have seen it floating around. Still, its value lays not in the rarity but in the fact that it has the original arcade game... I would value it at around $15 to $20.
Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes???
I'd say the Twin Snakes is a pretty sought after game. Assuming it's complete with box with instructions, I'd value it at $40 maybe even $50.

I sold three twin snakes in the past few weeks for 25-30 each. They aren't worth 50 or 60 like they once were.

Yeah Twin Snakes goes for about $20-30 from my experiences. Back when MGS4 was launching I was able to sell a copy for $65, but since then I've sold two more for $20, and $26 respectively.

Perhaps some folks can offer some suggestions on these;
Legend of Zelda: Adventures of Link(NES) - I came across a cart-only copy in spectacular condition; the ebay selling average shows it going for upwards of $25, but none of the auctions/BINs seem to be fetching that amount.

Graffiti Kingdom: Same deal as Zelda. Average sale price puts it at like $25+, but it's been hard to figure out if it's really worth that much.

I came across a copy of Pikmin 2 for $5 the other day, should I be holding onto it to see if it increases in worth, or is it best to sell now with that wiimake of the original gaining buzz for the series?

Oh, and one more... what's the current going rate for those club nintendo game and watch collections? Still waiting on mine to arrive, and I'm sort of curious as to the worth.

Yeah I don't think the LOZ: Adventures of Link is worth $25 just for the cart alone. Some Ebayers will set a high price and leave the item up for months, and eventually it might sell, but that's not a reliable source for a value of a game.

The NES Rarity Guide values the loose game cartridge at $10, might be worth a little more to someone who collects Zelda

Agreed. I just searched Ebay and I'm seeing $10 for cart-only. Does the "Ebay average" include new/sealed and "Complete" in its calculations?

I've never heard of the Ebay average, it sounds like a tool I wouldn't be surprised to see Ebay create, but I have not seen it.

If you list something on eBay and use their pre-filled item information, they'll tell you the average selling price of the item based on what the item sold for when other people used the pre-filled item information. They don't distinguish between new and used.

Yeah that might explain some weird BINs that you see sellers set sometimes.

Anyone see anything worth grabbing off this list? I already grabbed a bunch of stuff from this guy and I'm picking it up tomorrow so I wanted to make sure I got everything worth while.

If that's the original FF Tactics, I would snag that, it's worth quite a bit(and a good game). Silent Hill 4 fetches about $20 if I'm correct, outside of that I don't think any of those other titles go for more than $10, so depending on their asking price I would probably hold off if you're buying to collect.

Everquest Online Adventures for PS2

Digit Press doesn't even have it listed on their rarity guide and the only release for it was in 2003 in Europe according to them.

Sure it wasn't released in the US?

ANyway unless it is sealed (=$40) it isn't worth much really

I'll have to double check, but I believe it IS sealed. I picked it up from an FYE in NY state the other day for a penny.

It was clearly marked 1 cent on the price sticker too, so that made it easier to argue for getting it for a cent if it didn't ring up like that.

I also picked up 2 copies of the guide for Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom for PS3 at the same store. They were also a penny.

Watching the look on the cashier's face when stuff rings up as a cent never gets old.

Everquest Online Adventures (if it isn't "Frontiers") is one of those "don't touch it with a ten foot pole for flipping" games. Even at a penny you might get stuck with it.
Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 plus, no manual.

Very rare, though no manual means it loses a bit of value. I think could still get at least $50 for it though.
