See, normally I'd say that Credible should've saved his money better, but then I'm not really sure if he ever had a huge payday anyway. ECW sure as hell wasn't paying a lot, and the two (three?) times he was in WWF he wasn't a star, so he likely wasn't making much there, either.
Anyway, as long as he has a job, right? The shame of it is that he seems to have given up 'the dream'.
http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6705/ - Francine's sister passed away from cancer last night, and Francine was at her father's wake (he also passed away from cancer) when she found out. The signature pharmacy case was thrown out of court. ECW did a 1.3, and Paul Heyman turns 43 today.
I hope Francine has a lot of emotional support to get her through this tough time - cancer's a tough disease to see a loved one go through, let alone two, and she's lost both of them to the disease as well.
As for Credible, good for him - he can get a steady check in a stable industry, and one that's much easier on his body than wrestling. I doubt he made much, if any, money in ECW given that the company was constantly bouncing checks during his main event run there, and while he may have a six-figure deal from WWE, that money gets stretched thin with wrestlers having to pay for their own hotels and rental cars, plus he has to raise a family, and that money simply isn't going to last forever.
Shane Douglas worked at Target to become a manager, and I commend him for him - it's another stable gig, and one that likely pays better than anything he could make in wrestling since he's retired. He's also gone back to teaching, which is a much better long-term profession than wrestling, and far more stable.
Good for PJ. Hopefully he'll pay no mind to some fat dirtsheet slob who thinks he's cool by knocking someone working an honest job. It would make my day if I was at that restaurant and received my order something like this:
"That's not just regular fettucini. That's Justin Credible fettucini!"
Does Mickie James not get flak over working at Olive Garden because she did it while she was breaking in and trying to get to WWE, or because she has boobs?
Does Mickie James not get flak over working at Olive Garden because she did it while she was breaking in and trying to get to WWE, or because she has boobs?
Well the kind of guys that are going bust Justin's balls over his job are the kind of guys who would for sure give a pass to some girl with massive knockers. Not that Mickie is just a pair of fun bags... she does have skills.
Does Mickie James not get flak over working at Olive Garden because she did it while she was breaking in and trying to get to WWE, or because she has boobs?
Well to be honest that's not a fair comparison since the situations are the inverse of one another. One is a rags to riches story, while the other is the opposite.
But I agree. Can't knock Credible for trying to make a decent living after his wrestling career ended.
Film critic Roger Ebert has reviewed "The Wrestler", a film directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Mickey Rourke. Ebert calls it "meat-and-potatoes filmmaking, anchored by a strong story and sharply defined characters." He also says Mickey Rourke's performance in the lead role is "arguably his best career performance and could win him an Oscar nomination." Ebert's full review of the film can be read here.
That's a bit odd. I would never have thought the Wrestler would be in the same line of thought as Oscar nomination.;; But then again, Rourke performed well in Sin City. In any event, I need to make a note to see it.
It's Justin Credible as a breadstick makers at Olive Garden. You can say "oh he's just trying to make a living/at least he's now getting benefits, chance for advancement" but he's still a former world champion, not to mention a man who basically opted out of his 2006 WWE contract, who's now working the equivalent of an entry level job at a restaurant.

I believe somebody else mentioned this but I love how that promo picture (that has been run everywhere) has a sign that clearly reads "Necro Butcher Sucks A Fat Dick" in the background.

So, he's a former pro-wrestling world champion. What does that mean in the real world? Nothing. It has no value outside of the pro-wrestling industry. It is not a skill nor a trade. It's worthless, as harsh as that may sound.
And what's wrong with entry-level jobs? What do you do for a living?
The man's making a living for himself. That counts.
Shane Douglas He's also gone back to teaching, which is a much better long-term profession than wrestling, and far more stable.
I forgot Douglas was a teacher. He definitely gets a lot of respect from me for teaching. I would love to 'talk shop' with him.
Hard to tell. With a name/topic like it has, it sure doesn't strike me as an "arthouse theater" run - at the same time that it doesn't sound like AMC treatment.

He's a 34 year old man (who could still get indy bookings or even a deal with TNA/WWE) who's now working a entry level job at a restaurant.
Now, I'm not even making fun of him but for everybody saying "why is that news? hey he has to make a living" off. It's the same as if Monty Brown became a Domino's delivery driver.

Well, I can see why it is in the news. It is simply a detail on the life of a former pro-wrestler.
However, again, what's wrong with entry level jobs? Is it because he's 34 years old?
I look at it that Credible's been working on establishing a new life. Which he has.
Why the hell has no one shopped a breadstick in place of the singapore cane in a picture of him during his ECW run?
Don't get me wrong, I respect him, nothing wrong with working at Olive Garden.. I met him at a show once, he's an awesome guy.. it'd just be a funny picture.

That's the thing: this isn't news. It's People Magazine "OMG BRITNEY WENT TO STARBUCKS AND WE HAS PICS!!!" bullshit.
He's out of the business. Let him do his thing.
I'd buy him a in' beer - but I'm also someone who reads Kitchen Confidential twice a year to wistfully remember working in the restaurant industry. Those were great times, man.
Would people rather he take Indy bookings until he is past his prime and end up like Tony Atlas (up until a few weeks ago) or have a stable job that probably has benefits?
Granted, he could probably do well in TNA, but Olive Garden probably pays better
Exactly. Besides, you know who will be the first to tell you that being a wrestler is overrated? Former wrestlers.
Almost no one knows he's a former ECW champ and you certainly can't parlay that alone into a sustainable annual income. If he's OK with what he's doing then screw what anybody else thinks.
I'm nWo 4 life but man those shirts suck. It's even worse than wearing a wrestling shirt in public with a big ass "WWF" logo on the front of it.
There's nothing wrong with Justin Credible making a living. Same goes for Douglas. To me it's just a little weird reading about guys that I used to watch on t.v. or whatever working a "normal" job, ya know?
I think the people talking shit are the ones who feel they are above working at the Garden. Those endless breadsticks don't make themselves! Though I do think its okay to make jokes, it crosses the line if people start to personally attack the guy and look down on him. He lived his dream for awhile and thats not something everyone can say.
But let's be honest here, if it was Braden Walker we'd be cracking up.
Good. God. ICP needs to die.

I really want to see Douglas in the classroom. I'm imagining his Franchise energy applied to what ever subject he teaches (if he teaches secondary education). I imagine his Franchise energy would also work well in the primary education setting. I bet he would use puppets of himself and Bam Bam Bigelow to illustrate points. Awesome.
Yet another bad Impact show, although this one at least had some amusing one-liners from Don and Mike during the Beautiful People segments. Everything on this show was rushed, from Christian accepting the challenge of Abyss, leading to then using that as a springboard for Angle/Booker vs. Abyss/Morgan, and then mentioning all the history between rivals in just a few seconds (like Trigg-AJ or ODB-Kong), leading to nothing having much of an impression.
Frank Trigg's first match in TNA came off like a complete afterthought, as they not only just announced it three days before the PPV (a death knell on its own), but didn't bring it up again over the course of the show. Likewise, ODB vs. Kong was just announced in passing, and that was undermined a bit by Tenay bringing up that Traci was not only THE KNOCKOUT LAW, but may also have a punishment lined up for her. Great - more shit to keep track of.
The Beautiful People Beauty Pageant segments didn't drag on like I feared since they wisely spaced them out throughout the show - the evening gown part was fine, while the bikini contest part and the talent sections ruled because the contestants played a more active role and had better lines from Don and Mike, who were actually the highlights of these things with their wisecracks mocking them.
Sting on Karen's Angle was...odd. Sting came off like a whiner, just like AJ and Joe, which I don't like. I also didn't like Sting having no problem whatsoever appearing on her show after all the shit she put him through last year - I can look past it a bit with Kurt because it plays into the story Sting's telling, but that just made no sense.
In case anyone blinked and missed it - tonight had the blowoff to the nine-months long angle between Joe and Nash, and Nash said that he'd taught Joe everything he could and now it was just up to Joe to succeed. The three-man gauntlet match was effective at getting Joe over as a world-beater to a degree, and his match with Tomko was better (and lasted longer) than I expected.
Kong-Roxxi went way longer than I thought it would, with Roxxi also getting in a ton of offense considering that she's basically just cannon fodder for the heels of the division. The match itself wasn't particularly special aside from Roxxi's bump into the wall during the crowd brawling segment, but it was memorable due to the bloodloss at the end due to the chairshot from Kong that split her head wide open.
Abyss/Morgan vs. Angle/Booker was perfectly fine, but didn't seem to serve much of a purpose beyond reminding people that Team 3D exists and they have a match against Abyss and Matt Morgan at the PPV - contact your cable provider now to order!
The Sting-Joe-Jarrett face-off main event came off as really anti-climactic - they killed weeks worth of match finishes and many minutes of airtime to build to a five minute-long segment setting up Jeff Jarrett just standing on top of the entrance tunnel while Mike Tenay yelled and Joe looked down at Sting from the rafters...yeah...that didn't do much for me. The only thing I see it building to is Sting vs. Jarrett at BFG '08, which I already didn't like in '06. Speaking of which, why would Sting not have a problem with Jeff? He tried to ruin his life AND put him out of wrestling.
This show was hilarious for (mostly) the wrong reasons - beyond all the stuff I've mentioned already, they announced (again, in passing, like all seemingly major announcements in TNA) that the X division title match was now a three-way, which they could've had anyway without all the shit that happened last week, and of course, the world title match's focus shifted from being about Christian winning the gold in his hometown (which is at least something you can latch onto, and was sold very well by Christian early on in the show) to being all about Jeff Jarrett. He was the only participant mentioned in it aside from Joe in the show's final segment, making Christian, Booker, and even Angle come off as secondary to THE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN - THE TWELVE TIME WORLD CHAMPION Jeff Jarrett.
This show was already a "no buys" affair, but the stuff they did tonight didn't do them any favors. They gave away a long-running feud blow-off on free TV, plus, put a no-holds-barred match on the show as well - why should anyone be expected to pay money for one now? Furthermore, why should anyone buy the show to see "the Ladder of Love" match? The feud's been completely downplayed over the past month, and has long since lost any semblance of real-life drama that could possibly make it even a slight draw for the PPV.
Why should someone buy the show for the tag title match? Neither the challengers or even the WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS were on the show, but the knockouts champion and her opponent (and Kip James) got THREE SEGMENTS on the go-home show for the PPV. Similarly, why should anyone buy the show for the X title match? No one participating in it was on the show, and the referee who caused the three-way was put over more than anyone involved in the match itself. Abyss/Morgan vs. 3D, again, there's nothing there to make people want to buy the show to see it, and Trigg-AJ...well, I'd be amazed if anyone actually remember that the match was announced, as it came across as even less meaningful tonight than the Prince Justice Brotherhood vs. Rock and Rave Infection PPV match.
That just leaves the world title match, which started off being built up fairly well, and then regressed into the usual TNA foolishness as they went from focusing the match around the men involved and then tried to spin it into a million different storylines, leading to the world title match meaning less than Joe vs. the Veterans, Sting vs. the Young Guys, THE MYSTERY OF THE GUITAR!, and THE RETURN OF JEFF JARRETT. At least the Nash story ended. For now.
"THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL TNA PPV EXTRAVAGANZA!" looks like a bust right now, and it's a shame since it's coming right before their biggest show of the year, and having people be completely apathetic to your product right before that is never a good thing.
Also, TNA hyping up Jeff Jarrett's return as a big deal, and then having Sting remind people that Jarrett's just a circa '93 WWF mid-carder by doing the whole "J-E-double-F..." bit was fantastic. They actually expect people to pay $30 to see the man who lost to Thurman "Sparky" Plugg return. No buys.
Quotes for the "DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR STING" edition of Impact -
Joe - STING, STINGER! WE ARE DAYS AWAY FROM NO SURRENDER, AND I DON’T CARE ANYMORE! I DON’T CARE THAT I GOT A BIG X ON MY CHEST, AND THAT MAY NOT BE AS FOCUSED AS I SHOULD BE! I WON’T BE HAPPY UNLESS I GET YOUR HEAD ON A SILVER PLATTER!
Nash - Joe, you may not care, but I do. Ive spent six months of my life invested in you…
Joe - AFTER STING, YOU’RE NEXT!
Nash - I feel a bit like the dad who tells his kid to not smoke or drink with a cigarette in his mouth and a drink in his hand, since I lost my temper and lost my qualifier, but while you’re looking for Sting, you’ve got three guys gunning for the title. Don’t follow me - I don’t lead by example. If you’ll take heed in what I have to say, I’ve set something up for you tonight - I’ve got not one, not two, but three competitors - you go through them, and I know you’re ready.
Joe - You’re right, I said when I won the title, I’d defend it with my life, so I’ll do it! I’ll take your challenge, but just know this, after I’m done with those three pieces of trash, rest assured that I’m coming after Sting!
Lauren - Angelina, you should be more concerned about your title match on Sunday, but you seem to be more concerned with your bogus beauty pageant.
Angelina - BOGUS!? Beauty is everything! At No Surrender, I will be the new TNA Knockouts Champion!
Lauren - THE ABYSS OPEN CHALLENGE IS NEXT, BUT WHO WILL ANSWER THE CALL!? (Christian walks behind her and smirks) CHRISTIAN CAGE!?
DW - TNA IMPACT THE VIDEO GAME CAME OUT ON TUESDAY TO INCREDIBLE SUCCESS!
Tenay - Referee Shane Seool, we understand, was STERNLY REPRIMANDED by Jim Cornette.
DW - I really believe it was one of those things where he just got SO INVOLVED IN THE MOMENT!
Tenay - Cornette felt that the referee’s involvement swayed the result so much that it’s now a three way between Bashir, Creed, and Petey Williams for the X division title.
(after Abyss is handed a chair by Booker)DW - LOOK AT THE EXPRESSION ON ABYSS’ FACE! HE’S GOT IT IN HIS HANDS! IT’S UP! HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT!
Matt - YOU AND YOUR BOYFRIEND WANT TO JUMP MY PARTNER!? HOW ABOUT RIGHT HERE TONIGHT, KURT ANGLE AND BOOKER T GO AGAINST THE MONSTER ABYSS AND THE BLUEPRINT MATT MORGAN!?
(2 seconds later)DW - I THINK HE SAID IT’S ON - THAT MEANS IT’S KURT ANGLE AND BOOKER T AGAINST MATT MORGAN AND ABYSS!
Tenay - WELCOME BACK TO IMPACT, LET’S GO TO JB!
JB - IT’S TIME FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE BEAUTY PAGAENT!

DW - Angelina Love, showing great poise.
Tenay - Thank you Donald Trump.
Tenay - I don’t know who’s enjoying this more - you, or Kip James.
DW - That’s THE FASHIONIST Kip James.
JB - DON’T GO ANYWHERE, LATER, WE’LL HAVE THE TALENT COMPETITION AND THE BIKINI COMPETITION!
Dutt - Jay, you think I care that I ruined your wedding? That I ruined your life? YOU HAD SOMETHING I WANTED! And my father, one of the wealthiest men in India, told me “always make sure you have more than the next guy, even if he’s your friend”. At No Surrender, THE GIRL IS MINE! AT NO SURRENDER, NO MERCY!
Sting - I was ready and willing to walk away from TNA forever, but I had this flashback of my whole career, I want to bring respect back into the business. You don’t treat a Kurt Angle the way AJ Styles did. I never would’ve treated a Ric Flair or a Hulk Hogan like that because I knew that they paved the way for me. Karen - The younger guys say that the veterans won’t step away.
Sting - I know what it’s like to be one of them, to be the quiet one, but I HAD RESPECT! AND THEY NEED TO HAVE IT, I’M GONNA BEAT IT INTO THEM.
Karen - Two words - Jeff Jarrett - where does he fit into this?
Sting - His dad gave me my break, I don’t know where he stands, BUT I’M ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT!
Tenay - LISTEN TO THIS PPV LINEUP!
DW - Angelina Love versus Taylor Wilde.

(seconds later)AJ - FRANK TRIGG, YOU SHOULD COME OUT HERE AND GET THE PISS BEATEN OUTTA YOU! (show goes to break)
Trigg - Nice sayings, but I didn’t have my hick meter on, so I didn’t understand half of them. I heard you were a good amateur wrestler - you win a grazing goat? What I do for a living - hurt people ON PURPOSE! In my world, we don’t have a 3 count - when we have a fight at No Surrender, we’re having 3 five minute rounds, winner gets a submission.
AJ - LET’S DO IT!
Tenay - OH I DON’T KNOW, FRANK TRIGG’S ONE OF THE TOP MMA FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD!
Trigg - Nice handshake for a pussy.
Tenay - THEY’RE RUNNIN’ WILD, LET’S GO TO LAUREN STANDING BY WITH CHRISTIAN CAGE!
Cage - IT’S CALLED FIGHT OR FLIGHT - IT’S LIKE THIS - CHRISTIAN CAGE, THE INSTANT CLASSIC, MAY NOT BE THE STRONGEST, MAY NOT BE THE FASTEST, I’M NOT YAP, YAP, YAPPIN’ NON-STOP! IT’S GONNA TAKE A LOT, A HELL OF A LOT, TO KEEP ME AWAY FROM THE MAIN EVENT AT NO SURRENDER! This isn’t just any Pay-Per-View - this is in MY BACKYARD! That’s right - one hour from where I grew up as a child and flipped through the channels from where I got hooked. One hour from where I went to college and was so broke that I didn’t have enough money for wrestling school, so I used my student loans to pay! One hour from where I had my very first professional match, where I was paid $10. One hour…all of my friends and Canadian peeps will be watching! Kurt, Booker, ONE HOUR, IT ALL COMES FULL CIRCLE, IT ALL COMES IN THREE SECONDS! THE INSTANT CLASSIC BECOMES A WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! If ya don’t know, now ya know!

DW - J’Lo’s jealous of that butt - WOW!
Tenay - This Sunday, it’s Kong versus ODB in a no-holds barred, there must be a winner match, and what better way to prepare for that than a Bimbo Brawl!?
Tenay - MORE OF THE BIMBO BRAWL WHEN WE COME BACK!
(after picking up the blood of Roxxi)DW - KONG WIPES IT THEN LICKS IT! WHAT A MONSTER!
Nash - Well champ, needless to say, you proved me wrong - you’re more than ready. I feel sorry for those sons of bitches in Toronto. As far as you and I - I taught you all I know -you’re on your own.
JB - The Beautiful People will deliver an ORAL PRESENTATION!
DW - AND WHY WOULDN’T THEY!?
Velvet - Knock knock…
Kip - Who’s there?
Velvet - Orange you glad you aren’t Talyor Wilde!?
Tenay - Boy, when It came to “oral presentations”, this isn’t exactly what I expected!
Angelina - I’ve got a poem - Taylor graduated from a school named Baylor because THE WHOLE FOOTBALL TEAM NAILED HER!
Tenay - You thought that was good?
DW - I’ve got a warped sense of humor.
(during “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)Angelina - Line please?
(as Taylor drums)Tenay - DAMN, SHE’S PRETTY GOOD!
Tenay - Matt Morgan has had his DNA sent INTO SPACE - WE WILL HAVE MORE ON THAT IN THE COMING WEEKS ON IMPACT!
Tenay - Sting says he’s tired of the spoiled, rotten brats in TNA! Tonight, Sting wants to find out what the message is behind THE MYSTERY OF THE GUITAR!
Sting - Okay, J-E-Double-F, J-A-DOUBLE R-E-DOUBLE T! Come out, Jeff. I don’t have any problem with you whatsoever - let’s just have a roundtable now and talk about it! Joe, I know you’re in here somewhere, the roundtable applies to you, too! COME CROSS THE LINE, JOE!
Joe - STING! I’ll make this real simple - you say I’m disrespectful? Am I, or are you insecure? You say I’m a punk? Is that true, or do you view me as a threat? You say you’re coming to No Surrender? So will I - I won’t be coming alone! (Jeff Jarrett returns)

How did they explain the name "Prince Justice Brotherhood"?
It's obviously a pisstake on Abyss, but does he have anything to do with that group?
Looking at those photos, it's difficult to tell if you were watching a wrestling show or not. I see ropes in one, blood in one, and nothing else that screams "wrestling" in the others.

a. I like Matt Morgan. I think he has the potential to be something in pro-wrestling. But man, he did his taunt way too often. I counted at least six times before and during his match. We get it, Matt, you have a new gimmick.

d. TNA has pretty awesome PPV match preview graphics and commercials.
e. I like the post-show music medley. Their music selection is pretty good.

Nothing Matt Morgan's done in the ring, aside from his over-the-top leg lariat, has impressed me much - his mic work is solid, but he hasn't gotten to the point of being worth the hype yet in matches.

Very true - for YEARS, he's been built up as a big deal, and he's acted like he's king shit on interviews as well, and while he's certainly very comfortable on the mic, and is at times one of the best talkers in TNA, but he's also prone to just spouting off a stupid string of catchphrases, and he isn't all that impressive in the ring given that a lot of his spots are done by other big men, and he doesn't do them any better, despite one of those men ('Taker) being TEN YEARS OLDER, nor have his matches ever been beyond just okay on a regular basis.
Comparing him to Brock makes him look even worse to me - nothing he's done has even been as impressive as Brock's first month in WWE, where he kicked a lot of ass, threw guys around like they were sacks of sugar, and withstood chairshots with ease - all Morgan's done in give small jobbers a suplex>Rock Bottom-y thing while the commentators say he's making those guys join Morgan's "mile high club". As sad as it is, that's really the only part of his act that's memorable because it's so homoerotic, especially for an act built around how "athletically stacked and genetically jacked!" Matt Morgan is. Of course, they also referenced him sending his DNA into space, adding ANOTHER layer of gayity to things. Perhaps he'll be in the next Cho Aniki game.

If Matt Morgan were pushed like Brock Lesnar, I think the results could have been similar. A part of what made Brock interesting was his look and build. Matt is generic in appearance, which I think works against him. I think appearance plays a pretty big part in pro-wrestling, like other things in life. Plus, Brock's name is a lot more interesting than, again, the generic name of "Matt Morgan." In terms of general athleticism, I think both are pretty evenly matched. Brock is definitely the better wrestler, though.
How long can you run on potential? The guy's been on the telly since late WCW. That's around 8 years. After awhile, enough is enough.
That's true. Some people just won't fulfill their potential. It has taken Chris Jericho quite a while to fulfill his potential, and he has been a big name star for a while.
Body-wise, Matt looks generic compared to Brock, sure, but he's got slightly better-looking tights, and he has similar tights. He's also gotten a bigger character push in TNA than Brock got at first in WWE, and that's yielded him nothing - fans still don't react to him like they should given his push. Perhaps he'll grow into being a main event-level player, but he's nowhere near that level yet.
Brock grew into it by being a main eventer and working with some of the best in the world - and he grew into that role in just a few months. Matt Morgan's got a similar chance at that with Angle being one of the best in the world at one point, and I just don't see the same end result happening. I'd like to though, as Cornette's put a lot of hype into Morgan over the years, and he's been right about other guys he's done the same thing with (like the Rock, Brock, and Batista). I'd hate to see him wind up being wrong here, but Matt Morgan deserves some of the blame if that doesn't happen.

Cornette's hype for Matt Morgan is one reason why I think he has the potential. But yes, I agree, Matt definitely deserves part of the blame if he can't get over.
