The NHL 2007 Playoffs Thread - 2007 Stanley Cup Champions: Anaheim Ducks

Umm... can't win em all...? Yeah... anyway, I'll leave it at that. Looking forward to the Wing putting more hurt on those fucking ducks though.

Maybe, but hopefully it's short lived and that the Sens don't follow a pattern a certain team I was rooting for earlier in the playoffs did...

I could see Buffalo winning game 5. Back home, very excited to be there for 1 more game... anything is possible. The Sens are playing too well though to blow this series, right?

Well the Sabres are in Buffalo, not Boston. Anything can happen though, has a NHL team ever came back from 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals? Theres always a first.

Not sure about conference finals but:

Teams that have come back from a 3-0 series lead:

42/43 toronto maple leafs
+32 years
74/75 new york islanders
+32 years
06/07 buffalo sabres

Gotta believe
Is there any way to stream the Wings games online? I don't get Versus, and since CBC hasn't been broadcasting the games I've had to resort to the radio or watching the games elsewhere. Going somewhere Thursday night won't be an option, so I'd really like to watch the game at home if possible.
Sucks not having PASS Sports anymore, don't it?;)
Sucks not having PASS Sports anymore, don't it?;)
QFT. Man, those were the days. I hadn't thought of PASS in so long.

:D Yeah that was a while back.
WTF are you doing fucking wings!?!?
Maybe they figure if this series goes to a game 7, they'll FINALLY sell out a freakin' home game. Although ticket prices are the highest they've ever been, while metro-Detroit's economy is the lowest it's ever been.
Uhh... yeah... no. Kill the fucking ducks off NOW!!!!
Especially with Pronger out... I thought Detroit out-played the Ducks in Anaheim, so hopefully they can keep it up and take game 5.

Meanwhile, I'll laugh if Buffalo forces a game 6 tomorrow night. I definitely would like to see that series last a little longer, now that there'll be a game 6 for the WCF.

Friggin Wings. Man they couldn't have pissed away those 5 on 3's any worse. That was painfull to watch.

Credit to the Quacks for winning when they had to. Especially without Donger.

Well Daniel Alfredsson has broken the Sabres.

Should be nothing but great hockey here on out with Detroit and Anaheim both playing well and Ottawa obviously on top of their game at the moment.

That Lilja play was one of the worst I've seen in watching hockey for 15 years.

Pee Wee hockey players know better than to do that type of crap. Unbelievable.

Do ya guys see why I say choke now?? Geez... I gotta go shoot some ducks right now since the wings can't. Good fucking lord...

edit: Wow... I wish I never saw highlights... WTF, didn't they just leave the defensive area and let the ducks place the puck in the net. fucking Wings...

Yesterday's game was heart-breaking. Brett Hull after the game was saying the Wings shouldn't worry at all though as they've been playing the better hockey, they just got some bad break.

In other news I hate Lilja yet again.

They could use Hull on the 5 on 3 since the Wings don't have a clue.

Besides that obvious debacle Lilja has played out of his mind the entire post season. I have a feeling he's going to lay the boom down on someone next game.

Actually he has played pretty good, but I still haven't forgiven him for his poor play last year against Edmonton.

I was ready to forgive and move on had the Wings won game 5, but no in the end it was a bad play by Lilja that cost Detroit the series lead and possibly the Cup.

Remember, though--in 2002, Wings were tied 2-2 with a home game in game 5 against the Avalanche. Drury scores in OT, beating the Wings and giving Colorado a 3-2 lead going into game 6 in Colorado.

The next two games, Hasek gives up 0 goals and the Wings go on to win the series and eventually the Cup. Here's hoping it happens again.

Remember game 7, one of my all-time favorite games.

Red Wings: 7
Avalanche: 0

That was the perfect way to end that series and the long-standing rivalry between Colorado and Detroit.

I had the biggest shit-eating grin on my face during that game.

Apparently we needed an extra miracle.

I just don't get that at all. How do you completely abuse a team in the 3rd period like that? How the hell did Detroit not play with that 3rd period sense of urgency all game? Seriously, were they unaware they actually lost game 5 somehow?

I was up and going crazy again when Detroit got that 3rd goal, and I really, really, really thought for a moment they were about to add one more. So close, so damn close.

This is the worst series for the Red Wings possibly ever... when you're beat, you're beat, that was the case the last few years. Beat by inferior teams, but still beat. This time Detroit out-played Anaheim, out-scored Anaheim in the series, but still lose... they lose game 2 on controversial calls, they blow game 4 without Pronger in there, they lose game 5 because of an awful twist of bad luck in the final minute, then a bad bounce off a skate puts them down early tonight and they don't wake up until the last period. Just so frustrating to think how many bad bounces/calls/twists of fate Detroit got and how easily they could've won this series.

Finally, why the hell didn't Babcock pull Hasek with 3 minutes to go to give Detroit a 2 minute 6-4? An extra stick might've been able to poke that game tying goal in during the frenzy in front of Anaheim's net.

I'll go nuts if Anaheim wins, or if that series is even close... knowing what could've been for Detroit. Even if Ottawa dominates the Ducks to win the Cup, I'll still wonder how Detroit would've fared against the Senators.

So frustrating...

Man was crazy when the Hurricanes won the cup. But this year is even crazier... Ottawa and Anaheim. Never saw that coming. I'm voting for the Senators though, because even though Teamu had to suffer with the Jets and injurys, Canada needs the cup back for having to lose so many teams to the American dollar. That and the Senators are just a great team and the fans are very respectful, as are the players.
Frustrating isn't the word. Flat out infuriating is more like it. And, I severely hope Babcock gets shitcanned this offseason.
Why don't you like Babcock? It's not his fault Detroit lost this series. There's no question they out-played Anaheim over the majority of the series. You can thank a little questionable officiating and a lot of bad luck after game 1.

I don't know, he just seems like a jerkass, and I didn't like him while he was coaching the Ducks, either.

"And I did not like him" ... now you sound like the Sheik! Oh the Sheik, he makes me laugh in these times of darkness.

I'll probably get over this in a few weeks when the Pistons lose to the Spurs in the finals. Then I can be upset about that for the rest of the Summer... Until the Tigers get upset in the first round of the play-offs. Don't worry though the Shock will save us

Hopefully we can actually MAKE the NBA finals.

And, I'll break his back, fuck him in the ass, and make him humble, the punk bitch!

Oh no you quoted me before I changed my smiley to something more appropriate!

Pistons are a lock for the finals, Cleveland blows. Detroit's players admitted they played one of their worst games of the season in game 1, yet they still won. I doubt the Cavs win more than 2 games in this series. I still like Detroit in 5.

Edit: Now I've quoted you prematurely!

As do I, but I'm used to heartbreak in Detroit sports

Edit: DAMNIT

One of my friends in middle school used to root for the Avalanche just for that reason. He had completely given up on Detroit (actually all Michigan) sports because he was already so sick of the yearly let down. He went to an out of state college...

Always that major build up with a sad ending. Save for 89, 90, 97, 98, 02, and 04 in my lifetime. I guess that's not so bad afterall, but I want a double parade dammit

One of these days, Zetterberg and Datsyuk will hopefully become the marquee superstars they're supposed to be. They definitely aren't there now, judging from the fact that they can't fucking score on the road...
