The Office - Season 6 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

Sitcoms still do clip shows? I don't even remember the last time any show had a clip show. Aren't there enough clips of crap on the internet?

word.. with the internet and all that youtubery how do they expect us to be satisfied with an entire episode of clips. I would be annoyed if it was just a 5 min montage but bah.

Computron experiencing....emoooootion.

Weak that it was a clip show, and the whole Jim/Pam montage dragged. But there were some good parts. And hey, it's the guy from Flight of the Conchords.

Why is there a need for a clip show on a show which is supposed to actually be a documentary where the viewers are seeing all the raw footage?

i agree with the majority even as a clip show it wasn't that good a clip show. Maybe if I hadn't been watching the show since the beginning it would be interesting to see clips from the past but as it is... weak.
Even though it was a clip show I still laughed a lot.
see I wanted to laugh. I don't mind a funny clip show like if they'd made a show entirely of office pranks and Michael Scott moments I might have loved it, but this was more like I spent 30 minutes remembering when I was laughing when it aired rather than laughing again.

I thought the Office was above clip shows. Most "clippable" scenes in the Office are slapstick gags, which aren't the best parts of the show. This episode only reminded me how much I liked the older seasons better.

Yeah man. Let's get mad about clip shows. Remember when The Simpsons did it? Show was off the air the next month. I've seen it a million times.

I'm not too bothered by this week's clip show. It was a fun trip down memory lane.

Spoiler descriptions for the next two episodes airing on 2/4 and 2/11:

6x15 - Sabre: Sabre comes in to take over Dunder Mifflin and Michael has difficulties accepting their new policies. Erin is waiting for Andy to ask her out while they work on a welcoming song for the company's new owners. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam interview for a local daycare center they hope to get into. Kathy Bates guest stars.

6x16 - Manager And Salesman: The office is eager to welcome Sabre CEO Jo Bennett to Scranton, and are dazzled by her Southern ways. When Jo finds out there are two branch managers, she says either Michael or Jim must go back to being a salesman. Meanwhile, Andy's Valentine's Day plan backfires.
This show sucks now... does this clip show mean it is ending? I hope so.
Yes, that was the last episode.
It was a joke...

The episode was alright, I laughed.
The joke lacked comedic value... it was like Kevin telling a joke. :\
Off topic slightly but Parks & Recreation is renewed for a third season. :D
Good news... I really like that show.

I liked both P&R and the Office. Pam's reaction to Erin, Michael and the scissors just cracks me up for some reason.

Pam's reaction to the scissors was good, but I enjoyed Parks and Rec much more than The Office tonight.

And now I really, really, really, really want a DJ Roomba.

I thought Parks and Rec and The Office were both fantastic today. Tonight was one of the times I enjoyed the Office more than P&R this season, but both were great, imo.

Missed community though :[

I got a big box yes I do, I got a big box how about you

The Office ended up being much better than I thought it would after reading some opinions here. The Andy and Erin stuff is great, as was Michael the whole episode.

"I don't think you know what you're saying."

Community has silently become one of, if not the, funniest shows on television.

And Parks and Rec was great, per usual.

That line almost made me cringe. Is Oscar 12 years old now?

Decent ep but The Office & 30 Rock have definitely slipped.

Parks & Rec was great and continues to show improvement after a middling 1st season.

Community was hilarious as per usual and continues to be neck in neck with Modern Family for funniest network comedy. It's too bad ABC is gonna kill Better Off Ted with their stupidity.

Well, the more ironic thing is that it was Oscar that pointed it out.

I was kinda hoping they'd do something involving him when they talked about eating a rainbow.

I just think the Office writers are in a really tough spot. The show is not getting any younger, and not only that, I think the only way Jim and Pam can be truly happy is if they both quit. Which would end the show as we know it. I think ideally, the writers do have started thinking about an endgame to the series. And then Parks and Rec can take over its timeslot.;)

But for now, I'll just enjoy it for what it is.

Thought tonight's episode was pretty meh up until
the end when Jim put Dwight's tie in his coffee. I really hope that they go back to Jim/Dwight antics.

Parks and Rec was pretty touching. Reminded me of an Office Christmas episode, with a good mix of comedy and emotional layers.

Office seems to be in one of its transitional phases. Hopefully once they settle into being a Sabre property, the usual antics will kick back up. They had to do the same last season.

One problem that they can't really get out of - or, at least, have shown no ability to get out of - is putting Jim into awkward situations and being dumbstruck. When this happened before without Pam, he had nothing to lose, so he thought on his feet and generally came out ahead. Now he's in this situation where he has to be more forgiving/understanding in order to solidify his status as a father and husband, and that just makes the whole thing fall flat on its face. He can't deadpan out of it anymore, and seeing him behave strangely just looks weird. Michael can still be clueless, which is why he pulls it off better.

That's one take I have, anyway.

I think you're right, Strell, but I'm hoping that was because
he was in a manager position and that tonight was his turning point.

Just watched this week's episode and I think Andy had the best line. "This isn't because of the smell, I'm expecting a nose bleed."

I had a question about tonights episode, which is in the spoiler

What did Dwight get disgusted about when he scanned over a couple forms Angela had him look at?
Is this the first show that had Ed Helms in the opening credits?
I believe he was finally inserted into the intro a few episodes back.

I thought last nights episode was absolutely brilliant.
I can say, as a new dad just over a month ago, the scenes in the hospital are spot on!
LMFAO@Dwight throwing out the weapons of his car.

Absolutely classic.
Agreed. Best part of the episode. I was laughing so hard I barely noticed the officer called out Dwight by name over the megaphone.

I'm going to miss sexy, pregnant Pam. :[
The Office, 30 Rock, and Community renewed for two more years.
!! Yesss.
