The Official CAG May 2010 Pick-Ups Thread
You ain't lyin' brah... Ya'll wonder why I talk the way I do sometimes, or listen to rap... It's because of what's around me. How I'm influenced... It's crazy, but it's the only life I've ever known. Born and raised. The McDonald's I frequent had a young man shot and killed right there in the parking lot a few months ago. When I go to places, I'm usually the only white guy around. It's just a different kind of life down here. Yeah as someone who lives in the burbs south of Houston I do know what it is like, hate to break it to yah. So using that as an excuse is dumb. My best friends fiance was recently killed due to gang violence. Sorry but I disagree with you.
Honestly, I've never seen anybody stop doing something they're "addicted" to over a few day span. If in two or three weeks you're spending maybe $20 or $30 a month on games, then hallelujah, you've done it! But, if you are able to finally be rid of your immense hunger for packing every single corner of your room with games no matter the quality, congrats. You may finally see some people take you seriously.
Basically this, it's hard to just change overnight. Consider writing out a budget for yourself? It's easier to stick to a plan than just a vague "I'll cut back" and improves your chances of succeeding. Maybe put the money in a joint account with your parents name so you can't get at it to spend? Or a limited withdrawal savings account? Maybe tell your parents/friends so they can help watch your spending and tell you if you start to slip?

From experience, it's better to make it really really difficult to get at your addiction while you're strong, so that when you have the inevitable moments of weakness you can make it a PITA to do and discourage yourself.

Think about donating some of your games (since alot aren't worth much) to charity or hospitals; I found that doing a lot of volunteer work will suck up time spent on the addiction and puts you in a good mood. Plus it will look fantastic on college apps if you want to be practical.

Best of luck man.
Better be in at least 720p. ;)
Negatory, I'm working on getting a new camera, but that's kind of on the back burner right now. It's gonna be in somewhat poor quality, but, there will be no use of the word "beast".

I went to a ghetto high school, it was pretty bad. The kind of school that has metal detectors at the football games and the cops had to collect the knives that people threw in the bushes walking up to the detector at the end of the night. I've seen people keep weed on their desk in the middle of a class in plain sight, and I watched some kid would get busted for carrying two pounds of weed in his book bag when the dogs came -- which they came about every 2-3 weeks. The oldest guy in my senior class was 20 years old and he sold drugs to some of the teachers. We had permanent cops on campus, not rent-a-cop, real local police officers on duty all day every day assigned to the school. Cars would be broken into on a regular basis. My gym teacher used to smoke cigars in his office and in the morning class, you could smell the booze when he talked to you. One person was murdered while I was there, another was picked up selling drugs to an undercover officer. I could really go on for quite a while...

I don't have any ridiculous slang or mannerisms because of it. That environment doesn't make aquiring those things a necessity to survive. Swinging your arms around and making a fool of yourself by talking helps you fit in, which I imagine you are desperate to do, but it doesn't keep the dangerous people at bay.

not to mention, all the rougher areas I've been to, if you tried to pass as a rap fan by listening to ICP, you were asking to be mocked and made fun of.

It's decent enough. Volume could be higher, though. If enough people start posting videos, I might even join in on the fun.

Nicely done with the drink. I personally would've started my first video with "HD, bitches!"
Ok, just tell me if it's god awful... I think I finally got it to sync up! :bouncy:

The first time I recorded it I was actually pretty wild at the beginning... but that's just not so me..

Volunteer work at Good Will to increase the chance of cheap game pick-ups, that's the ticket :D

My first party Saturn s-video cable came in today, and since my 360 died on me again, I had an empty spot in my TV stand and decided to hook up the Saturn for a few rounds of VF2. I literally felt like I was back in 4th grade unboxing a sealed Saturn and hooking it up.

It actually looks pretty decent with s-video on my 52XBR4. The only thing I didn't like was having to use the wired controller. :( I wish another Net Link system bundle would pop up on eBay that way I could keep it sealed.

Neo Geo AES w/ Samurai Shodown (complete)-$290 PnT Cred

The Neo Geo I almost shit my pants when I found. I have been wanting one for a while. They had some complete games & some not, so I picked this out & they're holding King Of Fightersw 96 for me. To get the cred I traded my white wii ($100), Red Dead Redemption ($50), God Of War 3 ($30), Chrono Trigger ($25, cart only), & E.V.O. ($25, cart only). It was hard to trade E.V.O., but I'll find another one eventually. Im gettin a black wii this christmas for the kids, & Chrono Trigger I'd rather have complete so trading those didnt bother me.
I'm a got damn trend setter.
No, you're not. People have been making video blogs for a long time, you just found a way to douche it up, and get made fun of. Grats!

True that. Especially people like Pete Dorr, if anyone has seen his YT channel. He picks has an awesome collection, plays a lot of the games he picks up, reviews some of them etc. He makes videos once in a while but not like 2 -4 times a week.

My pick-ups:
Alan Wake Collectors + Guide (loving the game so far)
PixelJunk Monsters PSP
Wolfenstein PS3
MAG PS3

So, I won a PS3 this month.. And binged on games during the gamestop sale and that recyclebank coupon that made all of the $20 EA games $2.70 each.

Here are my pickups:

PS3 - won

All ps3 games are new:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma - won with ps3
Burnout Paradise - $2.70
Brutal Legend - $2.70
Skate 2 - $2.70
Lord of the Rings: Conquest - $2.70
Dead Space - $2.70
Battlefield: Bad Company - $2.70
Metal Gear Solid: Guns of The Patriots - Free (gamestop.com's error)
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune - $20
Uncharted 2 - $30
God of War Collection - $20
God of War 3 - $30
Infamous - $20
LittleBig Planet GOTY - $20
3d Dot Game Heroes - $30
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - $15
MAG (used) - $16

Also got some 360 games, Gamestop's error was that they advertised Rockband 2 Special edition and beatles rockband software for $70 and shipped me Rockband Beatles Value Edition instead. They sent me a $20 gift coupon and refunded my full purchase price for the entire order, which is why I got Metal Gear for free.

So, for 360.. I got..
DJ hero - new - $30
and
Rock Band Beatles Value Edition - free

Good month..

Hey Fire_Thief do you have any SNES games your trying to get rid of to buy more xbox original games? I have some you might not have.

1. Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball
2. TimeSplitters Future Perfect
3. X-men Legends

I do think F_T could have a future in Reality TV, like he could get on that show "Hoarders" and then the network execs will be falling all over themselves to make a spin-off. Some people have got the stage presence and some people don't. Ooo, could you imagine CheapyD having a guest intervention segment on each Fire_Thief show? It would be great 'cause Cheapy could show F_T how to get his games even cheaper, thus augmenting his antic-filled addiction.

what's the point of buying games you will never play? what's the point of picking up multiple Dynasty Warriors on all platforms when you could just get the newest DW game and have all the content from the past games and additional exclusive characters/stages to that game(since all Koei does with DW main games is upgrading graphics and adding new characters, weapons, costumes and stages to current rooster)?
Ummm, didn't F_T say he was no longer buying any games? Fail.
i think that he bought him self a present, or a few... for curing his addiction of buying him self stuff... or Fail.

Those games are old ones he's posted about, and even showed off in his video.

edit: Except the ones in text, those are new

Not bad pickups either, aside from the horrid PS1 Star Wars game and horrid Gundamn PS3 game
