The Official Fry's Clearance Thread

Update 11/01/09: I have been filtering out a lot of games that do not exist on the website anymore and removed many of the games that have jumped up to a normal price again. Many of the clearance games are starting to make their way out of Fry's system and some are making them back in but at a more standard price, for example $19.80 now. So if you don't see a clearance game on this list but you have seen it before, and if you go to the store and see it marked up at a much higher price now, it would be appreciated if you can post your finds and let me know. I am just trying to get an idea how the pattern works because as of right now, it is very inconsistent, and every little bit of help is great. Thanks everybody

Update 10/23/09: Lot's of the clearance games are beginning to get phased off the website in order to make room for the upcoming games coming in for the holiday season. I will leave them on the list for the time being, and if they still aren't there next week, I'll start taking off games that aren't listed anymore to keep the list cleaner.

After getting the okay from Guinaevere, I present to everyone the official Fry's clearance thread.

I just wanted to thank sinksand as well as others who put forth the work the previous Fry's clearance thread. Thanks everybody.

This list is just a preliminary list. Most of the games that I picked out from the list, the majority of them are listed on the website. There are also many games that are not listed on the website that I have seen in stores that are also on this list, so if you find a game on your receipt you got from Fry's that was on clearance and it's not on this list, it would be appreciated if you can post it here (and the locations for the benefits of fellow CAGs),and I will do my best to update the list.

You may also notice that this list does not include most of the previous gen console games yet nor does this list include pc games or accessories yet, so I will try and get them up as soon as possible.

GD Fry's and their piece of shit website. Their search function appears to be totally broken. Not that it would have mattered...anything remotely good was plundered long before hitting these prices in any of the LA/SoCal stores.

Dragon Quest V for $2? HAHAHA, yeah good luck with that one. Spectral Souls for $.90, Castle of Shikigami 3 for $1.5x, etc.

I think you're missing the point. You have to buy them at a higher price and then do an adjustment. While I didn't get DQV for $2, I did get it for $12 after adjustment. That's way better than the $30+ it goes for elsewhere if you can even find it. There are many, many clearance games which are in stock all over SoCal Fry's. Trust me, I visit 3-4 locations every week in LA and San Diego.

LOL, I also got DQV for $12, without having to go back for a price adjustment...of course, I'd prefer to get as many copies as possible at the $2.xx price currently listed in the OP.

I picked up just about all of the clearance titles I wanted from Frys, mostly for only a couple of bucks more than what they are currently listed for here...I will go back and price adjust as many as I can, however for many of the purchases they are over the 30 day limit. I would just prefer to find more copies of these games at the fire sale prices...

And I've had the customer service rep look up most of the "hottest" games on the list, and the computer showed 0 inventory on virtually all of them at every single SoCal location. So yes, I know there are plenty of clearance games such as infinite copies of Petz Horsez or Barbie Horse Riding and Fellating for $4.xx or whatever at every Fry's location, however games like Dragon Quest V or the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games? Not so much...

I will put up the DS games in a bit when I get home later. There are a decent amount of drops for DS games, but no drops on any must have titles, so I will update the list when I get back later.

It appears quite a few games are getting taken off the website now, in bigger and bigger numbers, and some of the games are starting to go to a set price, so we will see how the progress of these prices go in the next couple of weeks.

The problem with PC games is that the list of PC games is so huge, that I am trying my best to compile the list every week. But PC games seem to fluctuate weekly in price, so I have been scrambling to try and update the PC list to actually post it and I have been trying to get together the other drops for all the other consoles. The PC list is taking up an unbelieveable amount of time, but I am still trying to get it up and fully updated when I do.

Don't really need another thread either. Not sure what the purpose of that would be. You need to keep in mind I am the only one (and the occasional helpers in this thread) that is compiling the list, so I am doing my best with the time I have to do this. I will get it up eventually, hopefully sometime this week, but as of right now, the list for PC games is tough to work. If you want to compile a list of PC games that are on clearance and post it in this thread, I will have no problem updating them to the op. Otherwise please be patient.

It depends. Holiday is getting closer and a lot of the really cheap games have been cleared out for a couple months now. Generally you try to keep an eye out on the stuff that has not dropped that low yet, and see if you can get it. There have been cases though where people still were able to find some of the really cheap stuff. Best of luck.

If I were you, I'd just pick it up now while its still there and see if it drops within 30 days. Thats what I did with Suikoden and Magicians Quest, and they are both long gone now, so I am just glad I grabbed both of them.

The stock that shows in store on the website is not always accurate. So if you order it, and they can't find it, they cancel it. Happens quite often actually. I normally just head down just to make sure since the website in store pick up is so inconsistent.

Nah, none of these clearance games actually ever end up in the clearance bin, as far as all of the Fry's near me are concerned. Most of the time the games in the bin are like PC games and also games that aren't really on clearance. Most of the times these clearance games are put in the same sections as the normal priced games themselves. I never find any of the games in the clearance bins. But yeah, if you're that far away, then its so not worth it.

Really? The Milton store loves the shopping cart with the red paper sign scotch-taped to it. They also do these annoying as hell free standing wire boxes for clearance &

Yeah, the couple of stores by me normally just dump pc games with a bunch of HD DVDs and overpriced anime DVDs into those bins. I never see any of the clearance games in there, which I guess in a way is good since it makes looking for games easier. I think I would have to tip the bin over out of frustration if they threw clearance games into a bin like that.
