The Official Fry's Clearance Thread

Update 11/01/09: I have been filtering out a lot of games that do not exist on the website anymore and removed many of the games that have jumped up to a normal price again. Many of the clearance games are starting to make their way out of Fry's system and some are making them back in but at a more standard price, for example $19.80 now. So if you don't see a clearance game on this list but you have seen it before, and if you go to the store and see it marked up at a much higher price now, it would be appreciated if you can post your finds and let me know. I am just trying to get an idea how the pattern works because as of right now, it is very inconsistent, and every little bit of help is great. Thanks everybody

Update 10/23/09: Lot's of the clearance games are beginning to get phased off the website in order to make room for the upcoming games coming in for the holiday season. I will leave them on the list for the time being, and if they still aren't there next week, I'll start taking off games that aren't listed anymore to keep the list cleaner.

After getting the okay from Guinaevere, I present to everyone the official Fry's clearance thread.

I just wanted to thank sinksand as well as others who put forth the work the previous Fry's clearance thread. Thanks everybody.

This list is just a preliminary list. Most of the games that I picked out from the list, the majority of them are listed on the website. There are also many games that are not listed on the website that I have seen in stores that are also on this list, so if you find a game on your receipt you got from Fry's that was on clearance and it's not on this list, it would be appreciated if you can post it here (and the locations for the benefits of fellow CAGs),and I will do my best to update the list.

You may also notice that this list does not include most of the previous gen console games yet nor does this list include pc games or accessories yet, so I will try and get them up as soon as possible.

Wait, what? Crap. They had plenty of them when I was in there a few days ago to buy Up and Monsters Inc on blu-ray. But it was still $12 then.

But yeah, Eldergamer - I'd say it is not worth it. They have very little of the clearance stock there.

Got one of my last receipts adjusted and I finally have a... break?! Yeah, I don't gotta head in until the 25th for another adjustment. I'm happy about that, and so are the clerks maybe.

Because like 2 weeks ago I was able to price-adjust even if the item was no longer in stock. Now when I went there yesterday, they only did it if the item was still in stock.

Yeah. I bought the last one in the rack for $12. Then it dropped the next day (or the day after)

Next time I would just bring the game with you and if they refuse to do it, just say you want to return it then repurchase it. Hopefully they have not been opened yet, otherwise this wouldn't work XD.

Well, based on what this guy has posted previously about his Fry's, I would guess that they would just refund the money and throw the game in the bin for repricing rather than allow him to rebuy it on the spot.

Yeah, that is another possibility too. His Fry's sounds like they are fully employed of jerks and people who are unwilling to work with customers. My Fry's has better sense than that since they seem be there all the time now buying games, so they know each time I get something adjusted, its going right back to them anyways in another form, so they don't even question it. I normally just chat it up with them when I get my stuff adjusted since when I do go it is normally to get like 10-15 games adjusted, so it takes awhile to get it all done.

Yeah, I had 7 pages of print outs from this thread in my hand looking for whatever, didn't come across much but stuff in the Wii and DS area. Glad I got there right when they opened :lol: Got the NinjaTown for myself, and would have grabbed The Conduit at 16.XX if I didn't already have it.

Probably the fastest drop ever at Fry's on a game I actually want. This came out like three weeks ago and is $34 at Amazon.

Is anyone familiar with Frys' refund policy? If I bought an SF4 stick, found it to be defective, and needed to return it with the receipt, would there be any hassle in getting a refund? The site says that games and systems can only be returned for the same item if opened, but I'm not sure if accessories fall within that limit.

Yes, if by "suddenly" you meant in September . They won't price adjust even if it is in stock (but then you can just return it and rebuy one on the floor).

^^ This, exactly. Though I was about to do that the other day and they did let me return/rebuy one item that was in stock, so even within their strict interpretation of the price adjustment policy (which according to them doesn't apply to "one of a kind" merchandise like these clearance games) you can always get YMMV treatment from different employees.

Though on the other hand, in the end they have made more money off of me by not price adjusting. Sure, I've returned a few things that they then lost money on (by selling them cheaper to someone else) but there are others I just kept anyway because I wanted them at the price I purchased them at (though of course I would have loved the cheaper price ).

It really does them no good to give back all the $1 and $2 refunds for all these things, especially when you see how tedious the process is and how much paperwork they generate. That has to cost them additional time/money.

One thing their strict policy has done for me, though, is to insist I get all my refunds back on my CC - none of this "store credit" crap they try to pull on you. And it isn't because I won't spend the money there, but because when you use the store credit you get that ing 8-page 8"x11" printed receipt. I hate those. Plus, early on when they were still price adjusting I had those and they started looking at how many little refunds I had gotten from my first batch of adjustments (since I applied them all as payment to the next stuff I bought) and that's when they started getting iffy about it.

Is that shrink wrapped or had a sticker that signified it being open? If not...just put it together nicely and take it back. Also how long has it been since you bought it (the shorter, the better)? You should easily get your money back.

I think you actually got the meaning of B&M backwards, which means you can get it in store only for that price. Even thought its only available for in store pick up, the website actually states you can only get that price online. And you didn't even list what system, but I found it. But mainly because its an online offer only and not the same price in store since I just called to check, its too YMMV for me to add it to the list, but maybe someone will get lucky. you will get a refund within the return policy window. Hardware is always easily refundable.

You just have to be careful with Fry's because they charge fees depending on whats missing from the package sometimes. I'm not even talking about a restocking fee, because thats different. So if you have everything as far as packaging and all the extras, you should be able to get a full refund.
