the OFFICIAL Okami thread

I figured out a secret brush technique (the icicle one) thanks to Shiranui. Are there any more like this in the game?

Also, what does the the cog thingy I got from beating that running guy in Shinsu Field 3 times do?

Sweet. I just beat the game. My final time was around 34 hours, a lot shorter than a lot of people on these boards.

I kept 2 save files, one of them at the end and one right before. So hopefully in the near future, I'll go back and explore a little more.

Awesome game. Everyone needs to buy this.

Not at the ending yet, and htis doesn't really ruin anything, but I was wondering
I noticed Shiranui used a brush stroke I didn't have, that looked like an asterisk (or an "X" with a vertical line through it as well). I tried it out, and sure enough, it worked. Are there anymore like this?
Also, I'm still wondering what this Gimmick Gear I got from the running guy in Shinshu Field does...?
Nevermind about this. AWESOME.
WHAT THE fuck CAPCOM?!

AHHHHHHH......AHHHHHH!

addendum: I think Capcom made the smart choice, but it still sucks. A lot.
I'm with ya there chief. I would have made the same choice. But since this is Capcom, and they'll bring anything back from the grave for a buck, we'll be seeing Joe and Okami and possibly even that Godhand guy well into the future. New company tagline...

'Capcom. We just can't fucking let anything go. Cept Street Fighter.'

I was planning to do it this weekend, but I caved and beat it tonight. The last boss wasn't impressive to look at, but he was fun to fight. Too bad the ending wasn't as good as everything leading up to it. Still, an amazing game, one of the best to come out in a long, long time.

I started playing this yesterday and its a great game so far. Everything is amazing. I have a feeling this will become one of my favorite games.

I noticed the game mentioned something about multiple save files. Is this needed? What are the benefits? I'm only like an hour into the game.

Also does this game have a lot of sidequests and such?

Tons of little sidequests and deviations, and I'm probably not even halfway through.

As far as multiple saves go, it's a good idea with any game, but for some reason they took the time to spell it out for you. Also, I believe this game has a "point of no return" where after going beyond it, you can't go back into the rest of the world/game, so in the case that you want to go back and complete any missed sidequests or just have fun and explore, you'd need a second save previous to this area.

After 12 hours into this game... all I have to say is that this game is 50% Zelda, 25% innovation, and 25% originality. All of that equals to 100% awesomeness.

Easily one of the finest games I've ever played. I can't believe how much time I spend actually wandering around looking for secrets... in the hundreds of games I've played, this is one of the few that I actually want to spend time to do things outside the main quest.:)

Beat it last night. Probably the best game I've paid full price for in a long time. Easily would have been worth $50.

And dear god,
that third demon gate sequence for a stray bead after the spider bonus boss in Kamui; whose fucking idea was it to have you fight multiple Waka's and Fox priestesses (can't recall her name) at the same time, and end if off with three superpowered Nagi's?!? Vengenence slips and the slow time brush technique were my only saving graces; I never would have gotten through that without them...

But, this was well worth the $40, and since I will never play it again, it became a joyous $28 towards my Gears of War preorder. So long, Clover. May Capcom never fuck up the wonderful potential of this franchise.

You guys have finally convinced me to buy it with some of my GS credit (after I failed to pre-order a Wii). Even if there is like 5 hours of text or some insane amount like that, I figure that 35 hours of gameplay that can best be described as a Zeldaesque makes it impossible for me to go wrong.
Anyone willing to trade me their copy??
You got lawyer moneyz, go buy it for $35 at BB. Worth every penny.

I'd rather trade for it so I don't have to lay out the cash. I tried the FYE thing but they didn't have Okami. I might take my games to GS and see if I can get $40 for the 14 games I have that I no longer play...

I need some help as I'm already stuck, LOL. In the beginning of the game, what do you do after your in the town? I did the mini game for the little kid, and talked to the old man. How do I advance the story?

Have you talked to everyone? If you have, someone should say what you need to do to advance.

Have you talked to Susano?

I talked to the girl in the fields, the guy sleeping, the little kid and his mom, I did the clothes pole thing for the old man's wife, and by the tree/doorway portal thing, there was 2 people, but then they dissapeared suddenly and the portal thing went all white. I tried drawing a sun by the tree but nothing happened. I know the old man mentioned something about a tree though.

Who is Susano? Sorry, LOL I just started playing and can't remember who that is.

go talk to the merchant who needs the boulder cut, then go talk to Susano

charge him to wake him up, he'll jump on your back and you take him up to the boulder, he'll look at it, say something about training and run off back towards his house.

Then you'll find him out back of his house with an empty jar of sake, so go talk to the girl (Kushi) inside the mill (assuming you've repaired her water wheel), and she'll give you sake that you can take to Susano.

HELP! I just sat down to start playing this game. Are the load times really this f'n long or have I got a bad disc? It's taken about 15-20 minutes just to get started... All load times. :( I've yet to play at all.

Sounds like you got a bad game or you PS2 is dying.

Crap... I'm gonna have to go dig up the receipt. I bought the game when it came out. I don't think it's my ps2(slimline). This is the only game it's ever had problems with. Thanks for the confirmation.

I love this game so much. I'm already halfway in and I just got it a few days ago. cant...stop...playing...

I just finished this game with about 42 hours played. Overall, it was a pretty good game with very few annoying parts. I kinda felt it was a bit too long, but most people will thing that's a good thing. :) For me, I was getting a little bored of the gameplay.

So do you want to trade it since you are finished? :D

currently looking for the last ingredient in the moon cave...

I'm about half-way through, right? I have like 16 hours. but 2 or 3 of them were from when I left my PS2 on

Thank god it was a bad disc. And Kudo's to Target for exchanging without a receipt! Too bad I spent all my free time taking the disc back, I didn't have any time to play. :(

You're about a 1/3rd of the way done.

that's awesome and daunting at the same time :)

I'm guessing there's gonna be a pretty big plot twist soon.

I'm going at pretty much the same rate; I'm a little over 20 hours now.

Great game. Some flaws; the slow text, the difficulty (it's even easier than WW so far...), and it turns out that "Zeldaesque" actually means "complete Zelda clone" way more than I expected ... but still. Great game. Top ten this gen.

Not sure how this game warrants a "Zelda clone" badge. Yes, it treads in the same water, but similarity does not a clone make.

It was just enough for me to constantly think of similarities, but at the same time it never directly copied and I was surprised by what they did at times.

Translation: it wasn't a "clone" but close enough to where I appreciated it. :)
