The official "OMG Wii IS HERE!!!!" HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY THREAD!

While the Wii reviews have been pretty shitty for the most part, I'm glad that the two games I'm getting at launch (Zelda and TC) got really good reviews... I've got TC already and it's driving me crazy knowning that i can't play it yet.

15 hours left or something!

Hell yah the Wii rocks so much. Im so glad I work at Nintendo, I just ordered my Wii with 2 extra wii motes, 2 nunchuks, 2 classic remotes, Zelda Twilight Princess, Wii Points card and Zelda Players guide, Pretty much everything Nintendo sells, except I skipped out on Excite Truck, it isnt that exciting of a game. Cost me I believe right about $440 for everything. I gotta say tho, the only bad thing about this is since I dont work on Sunday, I have to wait until Monday to pick up my Wii, than work for 8 hours and finally be able to play it.

Well I'm headed out. Hopefully my Wal-Mart of choice isn't too crowded already. If they are, I'll just go to another, I suppose! Anyway, the next time I talk to y'all, I better be the proud owner of a Wii.

Yah everyone wanting one at launch should most likely get one it seems, Nintendo was smart and started final production of the actual unit back in July and went from there, so there are a lot of units that will be for sale. So good luck to everyone.

My mom works at a BB, and I asked her to check out accessories last night (Because I figured it may be a problem, especially since my local BB had nothing). When she got into work this morning they had sold out everything but 1 nunchuck and 2 remotes. She picked one of each up for me, and then an hour or so ago they got a shipment of like 40+ wiimotes, 20ish nunchucks and CCs, so she grabbed me a CC as well. Not sure what the employee discount looks like on them yet though, she's going to call me back when she gets off work.

its impossible to study for a test when you know that in 22 hours 7 minutes youll have your hands on a wii!

Hey guys, I just got a call from my manager (not that stupid voicemail by Aeris) that my pre-order of Twilight Princess will be available by midnight tonight. He also said to be there by 11PM because they are holding raffles and contests for free Nintendo stuff (beanies, shirts, decals, and maybe accessories). Have no idea if games will be part of the contest, but I would suggest everyone call their local EB/GS to see if they are doing this as well. Of course this (and the prizes may vary) may be YMMV because this EB is a much larger chain out of the ones in my area (they got the most pre-orders), but I'm going to be there for the free stuff. Hopefully I can score one of those badass "Reggie Lee-Aime" shirts though.
Off to TRU! Good luck everyone, and have fun in line!
are you seriosly going to TRU right now to wait in line for the Wii?

LUCKY!

I called my store (EB Westridge Square Greensboro, NC) and they're just doing a midnight opening. Ah well. Least we're getting the system tonight. :D
^Wanna sell/trade it?
Nah, that one's a keeper. I'll definitely play through it again as you start with all your items and a ton of money and there were a ton of things I didn't' get/do the first time through (even though that took just under 39 hours).

Highly recommend the game though, easily in my all time top 10 if not top 5.

Well I'm off to camp at Target. My buddy just called and said there are already people out there.

Later, and good luck all!

I'm heading to Target at 5PM. They open at 8...

No line yet, said they expect 70 systems.

Considering most people will wait at Walmart under midnight, I expect a rush will come at 11 or 12, while I'm already there.

That's cool to hear. I guess I'll find out if mine is going to do it tonight when I get there. I plan to get there at about 10 PM anyway.

Just called my Walmart and there are already people in line. So I guess it's time to shower/shit and head up there and scope it out. This just got a lot more complicated.

All the Walmarts I've called this morning (4 of them) say they only expect 20 systems, which is awfully low.

Called my Circuit City and they say they have no lines!

Im going there tomorrow at 8 since my moms going to Target at that time......2 hours for her to shop next door until the CC opens at 10

I wish I preordered at this point, but I'm not about to not get one.

At Target, the woman said she heard they had 74 systems, and online it says 69.

So, I'll be waiting overnight, which is probably unnecessary, but whatever.

Headed down to Wal-Mart this morning expecting hell, and hell is what I received. There were only two spots left in line at about 9 AM. I said fuck that shit and took off for another Wal-Mart. Luckily, they're using the ticket system. There were 15 tickets left at about noon. I just have to waltz in at midnight and pick up my Wii, no waiting. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good.
I don't know if this has been posted yet but you can get a 90 days warranty extension if you register your wii at nintendo.

http://www.nintendo.com/registerwii/

I doubt that you would need it.

If this is a repost please ignore.
Sweet, I was going to do that anyway just to add to my huge list of registered Nintendo products (maybe one of these days they will notice how much I have and send me a freebie ). But that makes it easier to turn down any protection plan my EB will try to push at me tonight.

And, no, as far as I know this is not a repost - and is, in fact, a very valuable contribution! Thanks!

My wal-mart is getting around 20ish they said, target said they eon'y know till tommarow, ToysRus is the same as target, bestbuy said they haven't counted all their wiis and put it into their inventory yet so i'll have to get back on that and call later, Meijer is getting only 17 and they have 17 already in line outside, and CC has 12 and two people waiting.

I'm hoping ToysRus or target has plenty of wiis so I can score one if not getting my pre-ordered zelda is fine i'll have to call my GS and see if they're doing midnight launch though I feel bad for calling because they probably busy with people calling about the wii and ps3 etc.

shoot, my flight doesn't arrive until 7:30 and I have to have dinner with my mom....so i might not make it out to "camp" until around 10 or 11 (since i haven't seen my mom in over a year). think i'll still be able to get one?

i have it preordered in the wrong city :( maybe i'll borrow my mom's car and drive 8 hours back up here and then 8 hours back down.....

There were four people already camping out at BB when I went to get a CD about two hours ago. I'm glad that I don't have to camp. I'll probably go down to the EB at the mall near here and make sure everything's looking good for the midnight release and probably come back a little later since I don't want to sit at the mall while it's closing for over three hours.

Just called my GS. All set for the launch at midnight. Can't wait! :) Gotta try and take a nap or something boefre then so I can justify staying up to play with the thing right away as I have to be up at 6am tomorrow ;)

My GIRLFRIEND just told me she wants a Wii! AND she wants to camp out at Wal-Mart for the midnight launch. No fuck!

I want a Wii as well, but I wasn't going to camp out for a launch. I was thinking Xmas maybe. This system has serious potential. My gf is a casual gamer (likes SSX and Animal Crossing). She has even picked out the games she wants. We're bringing the DS and a flask.

Man, I hope we get one! Good luck to everyone else!!

Sleep is for the weak!
But honestly I would do the same thing if I could. For some reason it's nearly impossible for me to fall asleep before 11 PM. I think I'll just end up setting the Wii up and trying Wii sports out before going to bed. I would try Zelda out but I'm sure I'll just end up playing for more then a few hours....

And FriskyTanuki, I figure I'll just show up to my Gamestop about 2 hours early and wait for them to reopen. I'm sure I won't be the first be there but I know I won't be the last.

Well I came back. There was no one at that Wal-Mart so I decided to go with my original plan of going out at 8-9pm and getting in line somwhere. It may come to bite me in the ass, but meh. At this point, after all this build up, if i miss out and have to wait on the second shipment, so be it.

There were about a dozen people camping out at my Target a couple hours ago. I'd be amused if they were the same people who camped out for the PS3, and just left their tents and chairs to hang around an extra two days.

Two updates I got from my Mom who just left her BB:

1) They have about 140 systems, and they had 15 people camping out at 5 PM.
2) They went through their entire stock of Nunchucks and CCs today (About 20 of each) and were down to about 10 extra Wiimotes (they had 40)

I just called my local Toys R Us to ask when I could pick up my preorder tomorrow. Manager told me that they preordered 20 Wiis and got in 20. So, I guess they will not have any extra for the people who line up tonight. BTW, the Target I work at has 33 Wiis for sale and is giving tickets out at 7 AM. No line at all right now.

But I have some very serious responsibilites tomorrow morning so I need to be somewhat alert.

That being said, other than chilling on the couch watching OSU and UofM, I've done nothing to allow me to play with the system when I get home. I wonder if I'll be able to get Zelda tonight too. I have it preordered at a different store. They're doing a midnight launch as well, but I may just wait till tomorrow morning and play with the system for a bit tonight.

Man... did anyone else's Target put all the accessories in the back again? They've been out for weeks, but I go today to finally buy a pack of controller gloves (and maybe find a gift card), and everything but the stand+two glove set is gone. Guy says they'll be out when the games come out tomorrow.

Guess I'll have to stop by there on the way back from EB in the morning and snag the gloves and gift card.

I noticed mine pulled the gift cards (or sold 20+ of them in one day) 2 or 3 days ago. I had just bought one the night before, thankfully. In their place were the lapel sets which I hadn't seen the day before, I didn't pick one up because they looked pretty banged up, sadly, but it's probably better that I didn't waste the money.

No idea if they pulled everything else tonight or not, though.

My local Fred Meyer said they will have 25-50 Wii's for sale tomorrow and tons of accessories (I might get a classic controller there). I think they got NO PS3's, so there's definitely more Wii's going out - but we already knew that ;).

All the Electronics employees wer wearing white "Wii Play" shirts.

There was no line, by the way, as of 5pm. They open at 7am.

Now I get to settle in and watch THE football game of the day (not that minor East Coast skirmish that was on earlier today - yes, I consider Michigan and Ohio to be the East Coast, none of this mid-WEST BS, they ain't anything close to west). While I watch the game I'll be cleaning and rearranging my entertainment center to get ready for the Wii.

If Cal can pull off the win and I get my Wii as planned at midnight, this will be a VERY good day, indeed, despite my PS3 not selling . My wife is headed to Target to get some normal stuff and I asked her to pick up a Classic Controller if they have them out. I have a feeling EB won't have any left to sell tonight - should have preordered one. I'd buy a Wii Points card too, but I'd rather get that with store credit.
