The Official PlayStation Vita Thread - 11/4: FW 3.00 Coming Just in Time for the PS4 Launch!

I am actually the opposite. I want the best setting to play my PSP games so I am holding off till I can play them on Vita.
Hows the Web Browser on this and why do u need to be with at&t if it's not a phone to that sucks
It's kind of necessary if they want worldwide compatible 3G. Most countries don't use CDMA (rules out Verizon and Sprint), and most countries don't use they AWS 3G band (rules out T-mobile) so AT&T is the only major carrier that makes sense without them using something like a pentaband radio to make it compatible with T-mobile. However, since T-mobile was possibly going to get eaten while they were developing this thing, that wouldn't have made sense.

I actually played the Playstation Vita today at the mall (Gurnee Mills, IL) and was very impressed with it.

The screen was huge and very beautiful. The touch screen felt very responsive and the Vita was a lot thinner that I thought which was nice. So then I got to try out Uncharted: Golden Abyss. It looked amazing a felt great. The controls were very easy to get used to and the dual analog sticks were very comfortable. Overall extremely impressed with the Vita.

Definitely getting this on launch!
First portable system I'm looking forward to since....I guess the original gameboy and sega nomad.

I'm kinda sad there is no support for connecting to a TV though, I realize it's portable but it would have been a nice option.
Yeah, I would have liked that too. I probably would have used it sometimes on my monitor...well, maybe. Heh....little mini portable game system if I could plug in a controller too :D

I'd like to get it at launch, but I'm unemployed at the moment and can't afford it.

I'll wait till it's been out for awhile and wait until it has some beat em ups, JRPGs, more puzzle games, and platformers before I take the plunge.

I'm actually happy with those prices. Not the prices themselves but the fact that Sony clearly took into consideration the outcry that the rumored prices were too high. $29.99 for 8GB is fine by me, though I'll likely get a bundle or the start pack and get the 4GB card.

They also have pricing listed for the EU launch and it suggests Uncharted as the long $49.99 game with ModNation Racers, Hot Shots Golf, and Wipeout as $39.99 games and Little Deviants as a $29.99 game.

So tempted to preorder... can I justify $300 on Hot Shots Golf? Hmmm.... since I played HSG1 and 2 on PSP probably 300 hours combined, I think I can. Plus, I've got about $200 in GameStop GCs from surveys so um, yeah.

I am same way but can I justify it for F1 2011, I THINK I CAN

GameStop's taking pre-orders normally without restrictions? I guess that could change once they get wind of allocation numbers. What's the minimum deposit that they'll take?

I think it's $50. They better have it on release date. They said it would be available on the 22nd

Really hoping there is a wifi-only bundle for the US soon. I kind of want Little Deviants but I'm too cheap to buy it if it's not included in a bundle.

I am trying (like always) to convince myself to hold out for either a price drop or a system redesign..... but it's not going to happen. The launch lineup for this thing is one of the best I've ever seen. Lumines is really all I need but there have to be at least 3 other games I am interested in already. This is going to get expensive.

I currently have the Wifi version pre-ordered on Amazon, along with Hot Shots Golf. Plus about $40 in credit at GameStop which I'll be using to get a 4 or 8GB memory card so I should be ready to do. Right now all I'm hoping for is Amazon to get some sort of wifi-only bundle with Little Deviants. I want the game, but don't want to pay $29.99 for it when I know it, a memory card, and a case are included in the First-Edition bundle... :(
you know Little Deviants will be dirt cheap on ebay from people who brought the bundle but don't want the game.
I'll admit I'm actually hoping for a quick price drop at GameStop where I can pick it up used. I honestly feel Sony should have included a game with the system if they couldn't be bothered to include a memory card. And with how LD is being touted as the game that shows off all of the Vita's features, including it should have been a no brainer...

Thanks. I'll have to use my gift card on a pre-order and maybe a few other things.

Appears sales were about 72,000 this week for the Vita. Brings total sales up to about 400k...beginning to think Sony needs to include a 4GB memory card for the NA/EUR launch. It retails for $19.99...surely they can include it at little cost to themselves and persuade the people complaining about lack of memory for storage.

Sony really needs to include a 4GB memory card. What was the last system to launch that required a memory card, but didn't come with one? Gamecube? Customers are used to having at least some for of internal/external storage right out of the box.

that would be the Xbox 360

After hearing about all of these demos being released, I'm assuming they will also be released for the NA release. Looks like I'll be needing that 4GB or 8GB memory card. I plan on taking advantage of those demos before buying some games.
ideally whats the best size memory card to purchase?
Ideally? 32GB ($99.99). Most practical? 8GB ($29.99). I'll be looking at the 8GB myself when the Vita releases. As much as the starter pack entices me, the 8GB is far more valuable. And really, I don't need the other crap in the starter pack aside from the case itself.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. All I really need out of that deal is the memory card and the case. But the 8GB is better bang for the buck at 30. You can get a cloth and/or screen protector down the line, probably better quality ones too.

Agreed -- 8 GB seems to be the most practical. And since most Vita games are no more than 2-3GB anyways, fitting 2-3 games should be perfect since I don't expect my collection to be that big in the beginning anyways.

I know of at least 1 PSP game I'll be looking to buy off of the PSN Store wen the Vita releases here int he states in February...

I only really want to buy the Vita if it allows us to play all or most PS3 games. If so, I will buy it right away, if not I wont ever buy it as I dont need a portable game device. Does anyone know what the status is of this or any opinions? I know this was an original feature being touted and made me intrigued, but it seems some rumors are that it wont work? Anyone have any light on this subject here?

Thanks a lot.

I am really wanting the Vita, I will be playing alot of racing on it. I know the F1 2011 transfer sucks. Will Gran Turismo 4 (or whatever the PSP version was called) be downloadable. I never owned a PSP, is the game decent. Not a huge fan of the arcade racers.

Hot Shots Gold and Uncharted and Wipeout (the only arcade racer I have ever really liked) will be the 3 release titles I buy.

Also is there any reason to buy the 3g version if you will not be using the 3g, will the GPS aspect of the 3g version ever hinder playing certain games down the road, will they be first class titles.

I am sitting with $300 in GameStop credit with not really wanting to buy anything until the PS4 comes out so the Vita seems like a no brainier purchase.

I would probably purchase Mod Nation Racers, Little Big Planet, and Disgaea 3 down the road also.

It's a feature of the emulator that lets you map camera controls, whether they were on the face buttons, d-pad, or analog nub, to the right stick.

Most, in not all, of Sony's PSP games are on PSN to download. GT was pretty good, though it was easy to see how they cut corners visually to get it on the PSP. If you're fine with there not being a career mode, it would be a pretty good purchase for that kind of racing game.

3G details should be coming in the next couple of weeks.

I don't even play Monster Hunter and that game looks great playing on the Vita.

I know, right? I mean, what always put me off about Monster Hunter was the lack of a second analog stick. Seeing it on the PS Vita...delicious :)

Does anyone find it stupid that the screen is so beautiful but you have to control the "dashboard" with the touchscreen? I don't want any fingerprints on that beauty

Dont buy one. They mentioned and demoed PS3 games being played on the Vita, but it was all hype and conjecture. There is no way they are going to follow through on this one.

All in all, especially with the games and system being priced so high, this thing is going to fail so hard. With smartphones and the like, paying $50 for a portable game is ridiculous. Seeing the Japanese sales numbers should have Sony very concerned, considering they normally eat up garbage like this. I expect it to be 200 by Easter

I've never seen someone troll as hard as you do. Sales are at 400k after 9 days. Uncharted is the ONLY game that is priced at $49.99 right now, every other games is priced at either $29.99 or $39.99, which is exactly what Sony said they would do when it came to the Vita and pricing games properly.

Then there's the sad attempt at comparing the Vita to a smartphone. Physical controls, that's all that needs to be said. I have a Galaxy S but I still have a Vita pre-ordered. If I want a quick 5 minute time-waster, I have my smartphone. I bought the Vita for more traditional gaming.

That said, keep trolling, it makes me smile :)
