EDIT: As soon as I saw the details of 3.0 I wondered how long it would take for Cheapest's blood pressure to hit the ceiling!

Anger? What anger? I guess I'm the only one who considers most of these 'communication' things they keep adding to be total shit? As for the clock thing, it IS about time on that, but I can also just wait the extra second or three and see the clock once the battery indicator disappears.

Or...you know, I could just look to the left to the clock on my table and know the time without waiting.:roll:

But Sony definitely needs to make these updates OPTIONAL, since I have zero desire to use any of this junk.
 
I was kinda hoping they'd bring something major for 3.00, since it's the next integer up and all. The new message indicator and improved default background/animated themes will be nice though. I'd like to see what they're doing with the friends list.

Everything you say is bullshit. Sega left the console industry because it was for survival. They ONLY MADE GAMES. Sony encompasses far more then that.

I'm in the same boat.

Updates are updates. They take me 20-30 minutes or so, I tend to boot up my PS3 every so often, and if there's a mandatory update, I just let it run the course and go find something else to do. Maybe for CheapestGamer, that time is spent coming to this thread and lamenting about it (so apparently he's updating his PS3 all the time, I kid I kid :lol:).
 
this websites good for finding out about new updates i hear it here first before anywhere else and as soon as i know there is one and i have the time i check for it and do it to get it out of the way.

Well, Sony got cocky this gen and it looks like they're paying for it with a third place finish to this gen. Maybe that'll teach them for next time to keep their shit reasonably priced. But at least they have their other divisions to fall back on, unlike Sega, whose hardware I actually liked alot better.

The only thing that needs to be said about VIP's trolling is his evidence for Battlefield 1943 being cheaper on PSN than on XBLA. The image he posted probably doesn't work anymore, but he posted proof that he bought 1942: Joint Strike for $10, instead of Battlefield 1943. He just trolls anything to get attention, so I'm done with the subject to avoid pushing it further.
 
This thread is getting stupid. The holier than thou group who feel that others are 'missing something' when they aren't totally satisfied with the PS3/PSN experience immediately brush off those people, while the 360 fans come in and do the "PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THIS SUXXXXXX". I'm unsubscribing from the thread now, I'll find out there's and update when I turn my playstation on.

Nah. I've had my PS3 for over a year now. But like I said in that post, I probably wouldn't have bought it if not for the money I made from my last gen games.

First thing I noticed is the disappearance of my Spider-Man font. Nooooo! :whistle2:( Saw a glimpse of the default animated theme before Batman took over.

It also update my database, which I think might have happened when it undid all of my naming and album info. That didn't happen this time, so I'm glad for that.

It's probably busy with people updating and clogging the tubes.

Edit: Wow. Friends lists look awful. They put a box around the invisible area that the icon, name, and game being played that it used to be in. It's a grey wall of friends now. :whistle2:(

Honestly, I thought I read someplace that FW 3.0 was going to be pre-installed on the slim PS3's, so I figured I was ok, until I had to download FW 2.80 the other night. :bomb:

There must be a shitload of people trying to get onto their PS3's to play a game who are(you know, the main function of a PS3)just ending up downloading this update right now, since it's only at about 46-47% for me.

But I will say one thing, since I got this different modem and the slim PS3, the updates don't seem to take fuckin' forever.:D

Now if they would just add some useful shit into them....using the sticks to rewind and fast forward in a fuckin' movie? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me, Sony. Again, shove the useless updates up your ass and gimme something useful like an interactive screen saver I can play around with while my PS3 updates for what seems like forever.
 
There were 3 different loading screens for me, which took about 20 minutes altogether. I am also signed onto PSN, which took like 3 minutes. Do the icons also look bigger to those of you who have already downloaded it?
 
damn you gotta pay for the animated themes I'm assuming? thought sony would give us one for free atleast
