Nobody home here. The trolls and the juvenile drama chased me away.

I thought CAG was a supportive community, but I was wrong, apparently.

You're free to let someone else man the thread now; I understand J7 has a lot of free time on his hands and has been trying to circumvent the thread from me for a few months.

I just don't have the patience for the children anymore.

Toys R Us Clearances & Markdowns

Why I created this:
I had issues with the other TRU thread & the OP. Was told by mod to create my own thread if I had problems with his. I also wanted to provide more information and statistics for CAG, including also listing markdowns, not just clearances.

----------------------------------INFO--------------------------------
- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

Agreed. jaysapathy actually specifically said that if someone wanted a thread with proper updates, they should create it themselves. J7 did that, and now we're back to this trainwreck.
 
It's true. I recall jaysapathy saying that before all those post were deleted.

Which is why I was surprised to see him protesting in the new thread.
 
I'm sorry, but the OP seems to want to have it both ways. J7, I would appreciate it if you were to continue posting updates as they come along. Even if they are in the middle of the thread. Just because someone wants to be a little kid about things doesn't mean you should stop doing some good work.

Why I created this
I had issues with the other TRU thread & the OP. Was told by mod to create my own thread if I had problems with his. I also wanted to provide more information and statistics for CAG, including also listing markdowns, not just clearances.

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

I'm sorry kids, but I'm really not seeing what this bitch fest is all about. Can we can the drama and go back to the games (myself included)? Sheesh.

Even though you already know this, i'll reiterate it for your: the point was that you weren't maintaining the thread to several peoples' satisfaction, J7 included. After it was brought to your attention, you told him that if he didn't like the frequency with which you were updating the thread, he was welcome to create his own. Well, apparently that was a bluff, because when he did just that you got upset about it. Nice job lashing out at a moderator too (who, by the way, was obviously trying to do the right thing by passing the reins on to someone who was willing to give it more time and attention than yourself).

If you're not willing to update as often as others expect, and someone else is, why are you fighting the change?
 
Like I said, you're missing most of the updates because you chose to only include updates when they come from people who list a lot of games at once. You ignore the smaller posts. Compare your list to mine and that is evident. So no, your list is not updated.

It's not being maintained when you ignore 50% of the updates. Why not let someone maintain it?

Take your list paste it into MS Word it's 4 pages long, take mine paste it - it's nearly 7 full pages for the price list alone (not including the other info I included).

If ANYONE who maintains and updates a thread went by what others expect, control over who is maintaining the threads would be switching hands every friggin' 2 weeks because SOME people will NEVER be fuckin' happy. If you want to know what's on clearance at X, Y or Z store, pay more attention to the fuckin' thread for it and stop whining already.

Even if you DO manage to keep the OP or whatever maintained, there's always going to be one jackoff who's gonna come in and go 'you missed this, someone new should take over this thread'.

You can't please everyone and there will ALWAYS be nitpickers who have to chime in about the frequency of updates.

What most who comment in these threads don't understand is that....people VOLUNTEER to maintain/update these threads and those who do do it WHEN THEY HAVE TIME.

Furthermore, all of the off topic banter helps to bury any updates that may have been posted, thus making the person maintaining the threads job of updating it even harder.

This is why I kindly keep asking people to list updates for the thread I maintain(penny guide one)in RED, so that I can skip over the 90-95% that's just people bullshitting and get the information I need to update the thread.

That's just my two cents on this whole situation here....and personally, I thought J7 was gonna wimp out and NOT try and make a new thread. I figured they were just bluffing.

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

But what exactly is considered 'important info' to you may be insignificant to the OP and if by constructive criticism you mean some of the typical harping I put up with on the penny guide thread, then I don't blame the OP for being snippy.

People want what they want and they want it yesterday.

I'm not trying to argue, so don't take it as that, but what is important to some is not to others.

The important thing is for the thread to get updated, since that is what helps people.
Posting about one issue or another is not really constructive for anyone.
 
I have to agree the TRU clearance has been the slowest of the bunch to be updated. Sometimes it would be up to a month without any kind of update even if the thread had made some headway.

I do understand and greatly appreciate the work the OPs do to maintain these threads. It's thankless work. However, the other threads at least update pretty regularly and the OPs do a good job of maintaining them. If the OP doesn't want to update as often as others, another member should take the reign.

I don't see why it would bother the old OP to have a new one take over. It's obvious J7 wants to put the time into maintaining the thread. Why stop him? At the end of the day CAG is about getting deals and if someone wants to provide that service faster, then there really is no reason to stop him.

Otherwise, I hope the OP is at least updated a little more often.

Well, we can say this, the OP found everything insignificant except price & system & somewhat how recent the drop was - compared to all the stuff I typed up and am willing to add as well. That's a helluva lot of stuff to find insignificant, which most people will find very beneficial. If 95% would find it beneficial then it should be included.

I dont recall jaysapathy asking to lose his thread but I do recall that he suggested J7 to start his own thread.

No thread is up to date. People should read through and go to stores on their own to find deals. That is how its always been done if you really want deals period.

The Wii One Piece game is 9.98 and has been posted and never added to the list. That is just from off the top of my head. I found it weeks ago and thought wow, I found something not posted. But when I got home I was beat to the punch by a fellow cag so why add clutter.

I not complaining. Because I read through threads and get off my ass.;)

Yeah. You're right, I haven't been paying attention to all of the 'waah waah waah we need the OP updated yesterday' bitching and Jay trying to actually keep at least most of the people happy.

Like I keep saying though, if it wasn't for people volunteering to update and maintain these threads, then who WOULD do it?

I've been paying attention, unlike the people complaining about the lack of updates, so I did not make a 'hurried' choice to choose a side.

Personally, I don't really give a shit who did what and to whom, but ya know, it's this sort of bullshitting and off-topic crap(like we're doing now) that keeps these threads from being EASILY maintained.

Having said that, I've made my position on your posts clear. In fact, in the very post you've quoted, I stated exactly why I don't find any value in your presence here.

Having a difference in opinion is one thing. That's perfectly acceptable. The problem is that you launch into these constant tirades of ALL CAPS and insults. You're quick to point out how things should be governed by how "EVERYONE" feels, but it's clear that to you, only your opinion matters and should be heard above all others. Anyone with a dissenting view is "bitching, whining", or just plain wrong.

IATCG, I just don't get why your posts are always so incensed. You always choose a side, and then lash out at anything that doesn't lock into your extremely narrow point of view.

Haven't you ever noticed that you spend the majority of your time here arguing, instead of finding positive and constructive things to say? Sure, you "run" the penny guide thread, but look through your own posts, even there, and you'll see that almost everything that falls from your fingertips is laced with anger, close-mindedness, and a truly bizarre and baffling sense of entitlement.
 
Well, I did post what a Target employee told me last night while I was there looking for clearance games, which is that supposedly any clearance games returned must be restickered with an 'as-is' sticker and bumped up to 50% off on the clearance scale for whatever reason.

As to how true that is, I do not know, but there has already been one dissenting opinion(which I don't believe I commented on). However, I would rather take the word of a Target employee(who seemed to know his policies) over a random person on an internet message board.

In the penny guide thread, how have I been 'close-minded'?

Oh and BTW....THIS IS ALL CAPS!!!!!! All I simply do in my posts is emphasize points I wish to make in said posts with CAPS.

There IS a difference.

And yes, I did make quite an inappropriate comment in my original version of my last post. I apologize for that.

Considering that TRU hasn't had any price drops in almost a month, I'm just not seeing how that's not "to the satisfaction" of everyone. THis is a no win situation for me: If I update it the second somebody posts something, slickdeals gets the lists and I get yelled at for letting the list get out, and nobody finds anything. If I wait any longer than 30 minutes after, I have people bitching because I'm taking too long. Not that any of you really care, but that's the predicament I'm in. As for games being reported, I run over to TRU in my free time to verify they really are clearanced in the system. Half of what's posted here isn't national clearance stuff.

But hey, I'm not updating it to people's satisfaction apparently, so I'm wondering why I bother. I'd like to see J7 do that, other than just taking what's already been posted and reformatting it in a new and fancy way.
 
This thread seems to be broken down. Jaysapathy was given the "Official" TRU thread so he gets it until her doesn't want it. Doesn't seem that complicated to me. And if you want the info just read the thread, it is all there. Keeping a regularly updated OP is good for only the lurkers as it makes it easy print off a list, walk into a store and buy all the clearance games. Plus, we don't need all the useless clutter in here. (I know I am now guilty of this as well.)
 
People need to just relax at times but in all truth if your going to take on the task of running a thread you should be willing to take the responsibility and keep it updated.

The whole blah blah keeping a list on the first page only helps the lurkers is garbage because they can just as easily look at the pages in the thread and compile a list as well..

I for one find it better to just keep a list updated on the front page, who cares about lurkers, there is so much competition these days anyways your not going to win either way.. so many of your fellow CAG will go an clear out stores these days...
So I am one that is all for keeping it updated in the first post and not half assing it... I do not like to sit and look though page after page of chatter to find a drop mentioned here and there.

What's complicated is that he DID tell him to start a new thread if he thought he could do a better job.

That post was among those deleted by mods during all the off-topic bickering a week ago.

Those are stupid reasons, and avoid the whole reason why this is even being discussed. The only issue I have is that you told someone to do a better job and they surprised you and actually did. So you threw a child like tantrum about it when they took the thread away. If you had kept your mouth shut, this wouldn't be an issue. So next time someone bitches about a thread not getting updated, you do the grow up thing, and shut the hell up and ignore them and don't go around telling others to do a better job than you. They might just do it.

BS. I've never seen any comment in this thread about people yelling at you because you updated it too quickly nor that slickdeals got it. Also never seen anyone get mad at you for not having it updated in 30 minutes. 2 weeks, a month, yes. 30 minutes, no. I thought you worked at TRU. How is half not national clearance stuff when clearances and markdowns are usually nationwide... There has not been many manager specific markdowns at all.

BS. I didn't just take what was posted. First I came up with & gathered all the FAQ type info, you have none of. Then I thought of a way to better organize the info and report stuff you never even thought about. Then I came up with a better Key. Then I took all the updates within the past 1-2 months (every single posted update) as well as your older list and fixed everything, fixed all your mistakes, fixed all the games you have listed at the wrong price (still), etc.

And since then I've had every update in my list, while yours is still going unattended to, despite you saying it's currently all up to date yet the last time you updated it was the 18th and there's been new drops since then. I've spent well over 10 hours on it at this point.

So you're saying I can do a thread and keep it if its updated... Like you did before.

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

I happened to find some Buzz Quiz Bundles for PS2 at my store today. They all rang up for $3.00. I forgot to grab the SKN #'s before I left work. I'm pretty sure they will be gone before I go into work next week.

I had to look in the old old TRU clearance thread for these SKN #'s. Hopefully they are the right ones, I can always double check when I go back to work on Monday just to make sure.
