Welcome to the Official CAG Gamerush/Blockbuster video game deal thread.

First and foremost, please check out the

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.

Anyone know if Hitman: Blood Money (XBOX360) is still getting $19. They recently lowered the used purchase price from $33 to $25. (Some other recent 360 price-drops i remember include Godfather, Splinter Cell:DA, Test Drive Unlimited, Condemned - all from $25 to $20, Lost Planet from $30 -$25, and DOA Xtreme 2 from either $45 or $35 t0 $30, I think.)

Also, has anyone ever noticed Gamerush employees going into the used game sections and pulling a few games off the shelves, apparently related to the lists they're carrying. Any ideas on what that's about???
 
I am never trading at my local Blockbuster again. The manager there is a total dick. So itook in the games I took in yesterday, and they wouldnt let me trade in Fuzion frenzy 2 because I cut the bottom off since it said "Not for Resale" on it. No big deal there I guess..this is what got me though.they turned down 6 or 7 games, including Blitz because they said they were to scratched. But when he looked at Blitz to see if hed accept it, he looked unsure. Than he types it inm and notices itd give me $22 credit, so he turns it down. What an ass.

I ended up trading in Blitz and Fusion frenzy 2 at Gamestop for the +$10 deal. Got my $22.00 that way. :/

So I basiclaly gave away Fusion frenzy for free. Ah well. I'm done with Blockbuster. From these games I only got $71.00

The lists are one of 2 things.

1) A list of reprices (usually done on Sunday).
2) A list of games to be packaged up and sent to other stores since they aren't selling at their store. (usually done early in the week)

Thanks, it was probably the latter, since this was two days ago. I noticed they took one copy of FEAR, but left another on the shelf. I was hoping they'd be repricing it (sigh).

I'm the one who traded Hitman last week, so the $19 value is valid as of last Friday (10/26). Unless it dropped this week, it should still be the same.

Going tomorrow to trade in Blitz. I've had my fun with it, and making almost 200% profit on a game sounds wonderful.
 
Yeah, the Blockbuster deals really wane when flipping from GameStop, especially if you don't use the Edge card. Unless there's a special going on, there's not a lot for you if you don't have a GameRush nearby (it's especially worse then). There's absolutely none in Iowa. What a crime! $125 in credit just sitting there, and I spent nearly $80 to get it. I don't think I should've done it in the first place...
 
Any gamerushes get Eye of Judgment in stock yet?

Supposedly regular blockbusters are going to be getting rental copies. But as its a physical card game, I dont see how that would work.
 
Anyone trade in WARHAWK recently? Just curious if you have to trade the cardboard box in or just the normal case (which says NOT FOR RESALE I believe). I want to keep the headset.

What does it get anyways?
 
I was quoted $36 with box and BT set. The cashier scanned the cardboard box, but he quoted $24 for the game itself. He was probably going to keep the set to himself.

Back in the old days of TRU & CC sales, it used to be 1/3 price games. TRU/CC used to clearance games for $9.98 or less that traded for up to $30. They usually coincided with the Trade 3 get $5 extra per game. I participated in 3 of these sales, i think i spent $600 and made around $1,600 credit.

I spent all the credit on DS Lites and sold them on ebay (some went as high for $180 for whatever reason, so it was a good choice for a credit -> cash item)
 
So I am going to use the Buy 3 games get 25% off coupon at Gamestop with my Edge Card For Flipping at Gamestop.
So I'm gonna Get The Darkness for PS3, Hour of Victory for 360, and one other game.
Any suggestions for the thrid game to get for flipping?

xbox Jaws unleashed nets a nice 8$ profit, trades for 19$

Anyone know what GameRush CHARGES for a used copy of Condemed? I can get it for $15.50 at GS but have a ton of credit I want to start using if GR is about the same.
 
yea thank i see it now , you knwo most gamestop employees dont even know of the coupons most of the time. i work there so hopefully i can max out a 50% on each game !!! WOWZERS!!!
 
If people are heading out to their local Blockbusters today, keep an eye out for Battalion Wars 2. I won't be able to call till later, hoping they managed to get it in "on time."

According to the EB coupon thread the Darkness dropped to $29.99 so it shouldn't it be $24.99 used now rather than $26.99 like when we all flipped it the first time. Website shows $27 still.. I wonder how many more copies GR will take before they try to choke me? LOL I've traded 2 each 360 and ps3 at all my local stores. I guess I may have to branch out a little and open up a couple more trade accounts.. Right now I just use the ones within maybe 5 miles of my house BUT I just got a Civic so gas is nothing to me anymore I can afford to branch out a few more miles and hit multiple locations to turn $17 into $37 xxxxx times... :D

I stopped in a regular Blockbuster this morning, and there was a table set up with a Clearance sign. It looked to be almost all loose discs and older generation stuff, so I didn't look too hard. There wasn't anything indicating any percentage off or special price stickers, so I just assumed they were trying to make these shelf warmers more attractive.

Maybe there's more to it, though, based on your observation?

Also, this regular Blockbuster had Guitar Hero III bundles for 360 and PS2. The UPS truck was parked in front, so I'm guessing they were getting their shipment for this week's games. Just didn't have time to stick around, and I couldn't remember anything specific to check for.
 
Is the Darkness still trading for $35 for both the 360 and PS3, if anyone knows for sure please let me know. I want to make sure I get the right game to trade because I have no interest in playing it. Thanks.

Since trade in values change on Tuesday, and someone previously in the thread got a quote of $35 this past Tuesday, you should be good until Tuesday.

Tuesday looks all weird to me now. ;)

It was $20 at my local GR as of Tuesday; dropped VERY recently from $25. This was a copy that I traded in, and the only one I've seen at this particular store since getting my 360, so I can't say it's a game prevalently in stock (at least near me).

Now, has anyone seen Manhunt 2(Wii) at GR? I was there last night but they only had rental copies. Are they doing their usual trick of getting in rentals on time, but sales copies don't show up until Friday?
 
Forgot to mention, I actually found a 360 GHIII for sale at a regular BB last night, both my local GR's sold their preorders, but this bad boy was sitting behind the checkout clerk, in plain sight, but certainly not activly being promoted for sale.
 
No go on Battalion Wars, good to know they haven't changed too much. They did have a Wii and PS2 GH3 behind the counter, but I got that elsewhere.
 
Bleh, still no luck with Eye of Judgment. Maybe next week i'll just buy a bunch of Super Mario Galaxy's at TRU and use the bonus $25 gift cards to buy it. I'm sure SMG will sell well on ebay.
 
Blitz: The League (360) confirmed at $22 trade-in as of 11/2. Sort of a shocker to me (and to the clerk).

Fight Night Round 3 (360) dropped dramatically (nets $11 in trade), as they sell it used for $19.99.
 
I picked up the new premium bundle with my credit ($380), sold the console minus MUA/Forza for $300, will trade in MUA/Forza for $57, so I spent $200 in cash to end up with $300 cash and $57 credit. Woots!

Saw an odd thing at my local store while looking for BWii.

They had a copy of Zelda for DS on the new game endcap for a couple weeks. No longer there with the new releases filling it up. What do I see in the rental section? Zelda for DS. So I guess they're looking at a short turnaround for converting sale copies to rental copies? Wouldn't be as strange, but for the fact that they haven't ever had DS rentals here.

Glad I wasn't really planning on getting the game there now, but I suppose if I do, I can buy the rental copy.

Wait a minute, so the Xbox 360 Holiday Pack MUA/Forza 2 is two separate retail games?

It really trades in at that high? Thats insane! It could almost get me Halo 3...

I need to get more CREDIT NOW... I'm trying to get an Xbox 360... =D

It's one box with two discs and two instruction manuals. Trade them in disc only no problem!

Oh... OH! Very sexy, this will bump me into buying the 360 hopefully before "dump day"... To clarify, dump day is Tuesday right? So prices change on Tuesday, meaning last day to trade in is Monday (for current prices).

I would love to pick up the 360, trade in the games in the same day and pick up Halo 3... =X

I only have maybe $200 credit though. T_T

Dump day is Monday. You dump all your games at GR on Monday so that way the prices aren't lower on Tuesday morning.
 
I picked up LotR: Battle for Middle-Earth II for 360 at K-Mart from the clearance and brought it (sealed) to Blockbuster. They offered me $15 for it; it was summarilly returned to K-Mart. I was hoping for the $35 it is listed for in the Wiki.

PS2 AND Xbox version $19 credit each. lol the thing sells new for $19.99 at EB. $12 used would make it $7.80 right now using the 25%+10% edge discount. :lol:

Considering it's had an MSRP of 29.99 for at least 6 months, I wouldn't think you'd get $35 in credit. :D

Gamestop wants $17.99 used $19.99 new for Jaws Unleashed that sucked I was thinking from the earlier post it was $12 before the 35% rather than after.... $12.40 into 20.40 still makes a nice flip. It's .60 on the dollar versus trading in ANOTHER copy of the Darkness (.51 OTD) but many of us have about blow our Darkness loads....

Grabbed two more sets of Darkness/Blitz(was gonna get 3 sets but was distracted by something shiny) traded one set on the way home for $60.42. $35/22 as reported. :lol:

Really? I went in and rather than looking through their huge piles of PS2 games i had them look it up on the computer. He did some typing said they had it and it was $17.99/19.99. :bomb:

My bad; I'm referring to the Xbox version, which is in fact $12.99 and trades in to GR/BB for $19.
