Welcome to the Official CAG Gamerush/Blockbuster video game deal thread.

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.

DOH that figures I assumed they were the same price so I just asked for PS2. Plus the PS2 sections are actually well organized at the stores I was at while the Xbox stuff is not. :bomb:

Just made the 5 minute round trip to my closest GR. Dumped the other Darkness/Blitz combo and grabbed :360: GH3 (game) and :ps3: Ratchet & Clank. They only had 1 more GH3 and no more R&C I figured i'd have trouble finding that since it's been out for a minute. They also got in 2 of the GH3 bundles for each system so it looks like 2 is the magic number at GR stores. Luckily they already sold both :360:s or I would have been tempted if that was wireless like the other 2 versions were...

Also tried to preorder :ps3:Uncharted but he said he it wouldn't be in the system because they are only getting big titles in now. Next time i'm in i'll preorder it.... Forgot to ask about Rock Band again....
 
Just picked up 3 Darkness on 360 for $59, will become $120 by the time I'm done with it. Also, Halo 3 can get you $54 at GS with Rock Band preorder, Edge card, and trade 2 get an extra $10. GR sells it for $55 used, so you end up paying only $1 + the tax to convert your credit from GR to GS as long as you trade in another 360 game. Just a last resort for those with dying BBV / GR.

Saw that today when looking for a phone number. You can move GR credit to EB and make $! Saw Halo 3 in store for the same price as well..
 
I picked up Halo for the X-Box for $6.99 the other day. I was amazed to see that and to see it actually play (some joker wrote on the disc face with a sharpie).
 
Just FYI, I saw one copy of Eye of Judgement at my local store today. They had also just gotten in The Simpsons, Manhunt 2, and Jericho.
 
Okay, so my new plan...

3 copies of Jaws for $27 at GS.
Flipped for $72 at GR.
Buy Halo 3 for $55.
Flipped back to GS for $54.

I get $54 GS credit and $17 GR credit for $27 cash. Cancel the preorder and use the $54 credit to buy 6 more copies of Jaws. Lather, rinse, repeat.
 
Decided to pickup the Wii version of Guitar Hero 3 with my store credit. I was surprised to see that they had Manhunt 2 and Batalloin Wars 2 available for rent at my blockbuster. If I hadn't picked up Guitar Hero I would have rented one of them.

The guy above says H3 only gets $54 when traded towards Rock Band. Do Gamestop/EB let you un-reserve games and get all your credit back?

I was able to find Eye of Judgment as well today. They didnt have any booster packs unfortunately.

BTW I barely could find 1 copy of Jaws on the PS2. I hit 4 GS that are really close together this morning and saw 3 total. I hope you have better luck with the "good" version I didn't know what I was looking for.

Well it looks like the days of hardcore Gamerush trading are back, what with the KMart clearance and the EB coupons. I picked up a couple more Cabelas and Open Seasons in time for getting a half price Assassin's Creed. Anyway, got a couple of trade value requests, if anyone knows or can check on the following, it'd be much appreciated

So is there any good way for transferring BB credit to GS? I saw the Halo 3 thing earlier in the thread, but I'm not sure as that will work, because a lot of GS stores around here are cracking down on stacking deals. Any ideas?

I have about 8 that I could go to in a reasonable distance, but only 1 does the $5 bonus. I flip 2 games a day on 2 accounts, so I can flip 4 copies of the same game in one day.

So they have Rock Band SE in their system now? When I last checked it wasn't available for preorder yet.

Got 104.50 in credit for games that I spent around 42.00 on!!!!

I had another Open G Fighters I was going to trade in but when I opened the packaging it contained an old scratched up DVD!!!

I do not how someone repackaged it so neatly.

I was able to return it to Kmart and picked up Tales of the Abyss instead.
 
I used to work @ game crazy and gamestop for years and we didnt care bout not for resale items.in my time, I must have taken numerous amounts of sonic 1, ATv 2 and etc with not for resale. I recently returned warhawk copy wit no problem

She looked it up and said "We have Rock Band Special Edition for $169.99 comming out 11/20". So I assume it's in their system.

Anyone know how much Crackdown gets?
 
You guys what did the three pack at kmart look like (like books or displaying all titles fronts)? where was it typically located?

I did find single super man returns 360 scanned at $7. Also found a non GH Kingdom Hearts 2 foil if thats worth anything.

I have found that it depends on the Blockbuster. At one of my local stores, all I have to do is basically ask them to order it for me. I think it is because the manager at the story is very nice and doesn't have a problem doing that.

Other stores I call just flat out tell me no.

It's because most new releases come out on the Friday the week they come out there. It's silly but that's how they are.
 
That's funny. I talked to my GR manager a few days ago and he said COD 4 was street dated for 11/6 so that it would be in on Tuesday instead of the usually Friday. Hope he's right.

Xbox 360 Spider-Man 3 : $19

I was actually hoping for $36 on that one, LOL. Still, Hour of victory, Darkness, Open Season and Bionicle Heroes are all holding at their usual prices.

I also preordered there today and was given the 11/20 date, although I hear the street date is supposed to be 11/23. I would love to get it before Thanksgiving.
 
Resistance PS3 only gets $30 now the wiki shows $33 from a couple weeks ago. Oh well I bought it from GS last week for $29.99(local 40% off sale). Since I get tax credit as well I got to play it for a week, beat it AND make a penny lol.

After buying 2 new games yesterday and setting aside enough credit to pay for my preorders i'm down to around $20 credit. :cry: I've traded in way to many copies of Darkness already so I guess i'll pick up a few more copies of blitz to cover the preorder of the last game I want this year. Will be nice to have everything paid for besides Rock Band which i'm not getting this year unless another huge flip game comes along. Everything at half price or less not counting getting my money back for Resistance...... Being a CAG is good. :D

How much do you have to put down to preorder it there? I'm going to reserve 2 copies - 1 at my local GR but they don't always get their preorders, and 1 more at the one that usually always gets their preorders but is farther away. So, I'd rather just pay the minimum and split the credit until I know who gets what.

they only wanted $5 down, which is $5.41 with tax.

I was going to ask this anyway, and so noting that no conclusive answer has been posted yet I might as well consider the question still open:

Does anyone know what day GR will have Call of Duty 4 available for rental?

(I hardly ever rent games, and this will be, in fact, my first rental this year, so I have no idea what the weekly availability patterns for game rentals are. Also, is the rental fee still $8?).

Yeah, I think I made that trade and updated the wiki with it, so it was definitely good, back then anyway ;). Of course it was only $10.50 at Kmart. I think I'd pass at $16.96 unless CC runs another x% off clearance sale.

I'll have to check out that Nov clearance thread. That's why I don't like separate threads for each month - I always miss 'em. I likes me big overbearing ginormous clearance threads that stay in the same place for each store ;).

Unless your store is a franchise (will say on receipts) you can preorder. The employees were probably just never told. You should've seen the trouble i had to go through to trade in a game at one location. I told the guy i would like to trade these two games in, and he rang me up for a gamepass, lol. 5 minutes of him calling the manager, he tells me that the trade system is down (lie).
 
Only games that are new at my store are 2k8 and Halo 3 , Spider friend or Foe a,d phanton hourglass , Does anyone know if they will have Call Of Duty 4 For actual SALE for blockbuster. Not gamerush but Blockbuster

You might get lucky but most regular Blockbuster stores don't get new release shipments.
 
Man thats great!! I need to turn some of this Blockbuster Credit into Cash, i mean its good for games but how short games are these days renting them seeing the best option.

YMWV, all my local GR stores get the big releases at least 1-2 of each on fridays so you just gotta preorder to make sure you get one. I walked in saturday and bought GH3 and Ratchet & Clank both brand new. I figured R&C would be tough to find since it came out a week ago but 1st store I went to had it... I was at the local BB only store yesterday and they had all the normal new releases for sale still. They only get the big titles to sell but i'd have no fear of my stores not getting CoD4... ;)
