Welcome to the Official CAG Gamerush/Blockbuster video game deal thread.

First and foremost, please check out the
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.
Checked 3 Gamestops, no used Alvin's to be found.
Best bet, for me, is that I have a couple 15 off 100 circuit city coupons.
Buy them there, 5 for 85, $17 a piece plus tax, works out to a 11.xx profit.
Good luck finding 5 copies at a store.
With these coupons, they actually take a percentage off. So if you find, 3 copies, which my stores limit you to 3 of any title anyways. Just fill the rest up with crap, and then return it afterwards.

Or the best idea is, buy it now, assuming it is $49.99. Then get a price match when BBYs ad comes out for $19.99 - 10% difference, that would be a total of $17 after PM + taxes.
add in printing out covers and finding cases for the trade-in of MUA and FORZA2. All the stores around me wouldnt take disc only (sux to be me). Spent exactly $4 at Kinkos printing out covers and used a dvd case from an old movie. Employee took the black case no problem. One of the printouts didnt scan so it was a manual look up. Turned $17+$4 into 37 GR credit. Worth the hassle? Meh, ok turnaround.
Were did you get the printable covers at? My GR Won't take the Disks only....

There is a link a few pages back to Forza and Marvel covers.

Well, Hour of Victory will soon be another relic in the flipping frenzy because I just read that they are dropping the price to twenty bucks at Circuit City so this mostlikely is a Universal drop that will take effect in the next several weeks.

As Beowulf taught us, Gamerush is usually pretty slow to react to official price drops :D

And god bless them for that! I will be all over this

This happens with every game that drops.

Hour of Victory or Alvin dropping to $20 retail would be a hot deal if they were on ps3 and you could get them for $10 after the Best Buy...dratz.

Makes the drops kinda meh IMO.

I'm looking for a game to flip at GS for about $15 credit. Any games at a good price ($8 or less) that will get that amount on trade-in?

Also posted in the Goodwill thread, but I found Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (360) and Just Cause (360) for $5 each at Goodwill today. Traded them both in (using manuals as cover art to make up for the salvaged GW barcodes) for $37 ($25 for THPG and $12 for Just Cause).

Any idea what Pimp My Ride (360) gets in trade?

Jaws for xbox sells for about 10 after edge card and 10% off coupon, and trades in for 16

Making a push for the PS3 bundle. The 5 free movie rebate states that the PS3 must be purchased by January 31st, so need this done by next Thursday. Can't wait to walk in with 3 value cards and 1 gift card with over $600 in credit.

Hit gamestop for a load of Darkness, Marvel/Forza, HOV.
I grabbed but didn't check yet, NBA Live 07, it was 8.99 after edge card. I though on the circuit city clearance this was mentioned as a decent flip.
With the batch of stuff to trade today, i'll be up to $570.
Including 'free' credit(from games bought with profit of selling other stuff from Blockbuster), my cash out will be under $200.

This weeks used game special is Spiderman 3 for xbox 360 at gamestop. Forgot if it was $17.99 or $19.99. Don't think it's a good flip either way.

Ah drats I forgot yesterday was the last day to get the darkness for that price, I was gonna go out today and buy an ton. :( Looks like its going to be another MUA/Forza2 + HOV day.

If you can find it, Virtua Tennis at Sears Clearance for $8 trades for $15.

My sears sold it for $10 after tax but I got $20 for it on ebay.

I went into BB today and tried to trade in 2 more Darkness. They said it cannot be done because the limit is 2... didn't know that.

Regardless, will I be able to trade them in at a different BB? One that is like 2 miles from the current one?

my BBV doesn't take more than 1 copy of a game. So i just go down the street and the guys there are cool and will take like 4 simply cuz they don't care :applause::lol:

are the bb accounts accessible by every store?

example: the one i go to has 2 darkness on my file as traded in. if i go to another bb 2 miles away, will they have access to that info and not grant me a trade in?

and i can use the credit on my account at any time right?

also, anyone know how much spiderman 3 xbox 360 trade in for?

I have 6 different blockbusters that I trade into to. Definitely have to get a feel for how each stores operates.
The store closest to me is the biggest pain.
After being flagged for trading too many 'new' beowulf's last month, I decided to do one copy per store, period.
But, now I'm making second rounds with Darkness, Marvel, and Forza.
I NEED the PS3.

per their own rules (that contract you sign) it's 2 copies of the same game on the same day.

i had a store try to pull this crap with me and i pointed out their rules to them. i haven't been bothered since.

Same day? Interesting... I'm going to have to dig that contract up. that yellow sheet right?

Update: I cannot find that stipulation on the contract... care to point out where exactly is that stated? Thanks

There are no GR around bay area. I already have $132 credit after a few trades. What am I going to do with this credit since the BBs I've been too don't get any hardware?
I already have PS3, Wii, and PSP. I guess I can go to a GR whenever I am in another city and buy some games for a DS or something.
Otherwise, not sure if I want more credit there.

Any comments/ideas?

I don't have it with me at work.

I don't think it's changed since I just setup a new trading account at a different blockbuster last week.

It could vary from state to state, but I doubt it.

Thanks guys. I found it. It is on the back of the Yellow Trading Authorization form. HOWEVER, be careful.

It is number 9 on the back and it states verbatim
"(b) two copies per game platform type of the same game software title per membership account per day. Blockbuster may further limit number of copies of a title and overall number of goods accepted in a trade transaction of from a member or authorized trader without advance notice in its sole discretion."

With that said, they can use that statement as their safety net right?

Yeah my bad, and thanks for updating the bigs ps2 price I was about to get some of those when I go to GS later. \

Right now since darkness is back up, that Mua/Forza and HoV are the two winners at GS anyone else have others?

Traded:

Blacksite: Area 51 (X360) - $35 \\:D/
Full Auto (X360) - $12

Oblivion: Shivering Isles (X360 retail version, obviously) - wouldn't take!

Noticed thay had a whole table of that Rock Band\Guitar Hero stuff everyone's always going on about...
any good places to get Alvin ?
Just checked the GS website they have updated the price of this game new to 19.99 id assume 17.99 used if you can find it. I dont think they have a locator for it yet.

Even new though, 20 minus the 10% and the edge card thats pretty damn solid :) all stores within 10 miles of my place have 4+ copies
