The Orange Box - Out Now

this has to be the best overall value for a title on 360 so far.. but man, if CSS was on it..

I really hope css does come out, cs on xbox was prob my favortie live game.
 
I don't quite understand why people would want to get the game shipped from Gamestop if it's the same price. Why not just go to the store and buy it day of?
 
Saves gas, don't have to deal with employees, don't have to leave the house, actually get to play it sooner since you don't have to wait for them to check in the shipment, no dealing with other customers, preordering without having to put money down, etc.

There's plenty of reasons.

Will this game support splitscreen?

I already know the answer, but I thought I might hold out a little bit of hope. Online play does nothing for me. If I can't reach out and slap the person, the game just isn't fun to me. :lol:

Just get two TVs and two 360's and you can play together. Either way I find it hard to believe that you won't have fun with (arguably) on of the best multiplayer games ever.

Ive been thinking of getting this, FIFA 08, and PGR 4 at ToysRUS with the buy 2 get 1 deal...thing is that Im getting FIFA 08 and PGR4 free online, so im not sure how I could return/exchange and make profit...

seriously man, i cant wait at all. i thought halo 3 would hold me over for at least two weeks, but i cant stop thinking about playing HL2 (again) and TF2.

my fear is that everyone will still play halo 3, leaving an untapped potential for some amazing multiplayer. Im hopeing there will be an awesome dedicated community playing TF2, just like rainbow six vegas was to gears of war.
 
Well I can tell you guys this much. I didn't buy Halo 3 because honestly, it is overrated. I know it, your mom knows it, your dad knows it, your dog knows it. So I have been playing that. I than see that promotion for getting to beta test TF2 early if I preorder it and I jump on that because, dude mouse and keyboard.

I haven't TOUCHED halo 3 since. Not only is TF2 alone worth the price of admission but you get the rest of the box with it. This coming from someone who hated TFC and thought it was terrible. Team Fortress 2 is my new counterstrike and the first multiplayer game since counterstrike that I can say I look forward to coming home and playing right away. Just wait till you guys play it and see the art direction and the hilarity of the whole game. Seriously is just the perfect multiplayer game. Oh and they got rid of Nades! (if your a old tfc guy you know how much nades sucked)

Here's hoping we can get some crossplatform play :pray:
 
I'm pretty thrilled. I loved me some TFC and I have a $25 voucher from Microcenter just waiting to get plunked down for Orange Box.

This is a day one purchase for me, likely at lunch during work, resulting in me staring longingly at the box while I count down to 5 pm.
 
already pre-ordered from eb with the free overnight. Was talkin to a friend of mine who got it on the TF2 beta, just made me want it more.
 
I feel odd that there's been so much hype for Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress yet I've never played either title...though I never had a good PC. I like that I'm going into it and its all new to me.
 
I have it on preorder. My college is cancelling classes Wednesday due to some staff and faculty meetings, so I'll have a lot of time to play this bad boy. Can't wait.

Link, trust me when I say you'll like both. Granted I haven't played TF2, but I played the SHIT outta TFC and loved every minute of it. As for HL2, it's still one of the top games of all time in my mind; there's so much atmosphere and cool shit in the game to warrant buying TOB even if you've beaten it (as I have).

I actually own episode 1 on Steam but never got around to playing it and now don't really have a good setup for PC gaming with KB & mouse.

I'm looking forward to getting this, but I think it's gonna be on my Christmas list rather than buying it right away. Halo 3 ought to hold my interest on the 360 for a while yet. ;)

Yeah I think too much weight is placed on the overall story of HL2 (and the Halo games). I'm not convinced on either games story, but Valve does an amazing job of incorporating you into the story, in the actual gameplay vs. through cutscenes. I think Valve perfected this in Episode 1 with Alyx who is your companion for both gameplay and a means to drive the story.

they pretty much leave out everything you would want to know. From what I read, HL1 is the same way.
 
I'm starting to think that we should split this thread up into 3 threads. Half Life 2 + Episode 1 + Episode 2, Teamfortress 2, and Portal...so that we could have discussions on each game without getting to confusing.

Did u try and track it over the UPS code tho. I tried and it said that i should try again later or re type the info in. So I am starten to think the website just said that early, but i'm hopin to get it tommorrow ;)
 
Yeah, tracking number wasn't working yet. Either way I'm good. If I get it tomorrow it'll be a nice surprise. If I get it Wednesday, still cool since that's when I expected it.

Yeah I ordered from GS with overnight shipping and it said mine shipped today but my tracking number is isn't working either. My Guess? They sent it out today with 2 day shipping instead of tommorow with overnight.
