The Randy "The Ram" Robinson Wrestling Thread
Hrm, how about we switch things up with an Edge/Matt vs. Jeff/Christian pairing :D
I agree

Rumble time!!!

I think the last title match victory that ended cleanly, ever, was like in 1956. Like Arnold Skaaland versus Teddy Roosevelt. Or something like that.

O HAI Ray #1 again... can HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?!??! :p

[e] Every 90 seconds... that means about 42 minutes to bring everyone out... with 75 minutes still alloted... they planning on an early finish?

Or are most PPVs running about 2.5 hours nowadays?

Rey was #2 last time. Which is so much different from #1 in terms of actual in-ring work in the RR match that Benoit and HBK's #1 victories are so much more meaningful than Rey's.

EDIT: I'm still going with Triple H for the win. Like betting on the house at a casino. ;)

Or the one from 12 days ago, but who's counting?

Right. Because I was being literal.

EDIT: There's a sign I haven't seen SD in ages: I didn't know Carlito was wearing those stupid pants. I thought he still wore those bicycle pants that said "Eat Spit."

Hell yeah, we're getting a lot of J.Mo tonight!

And just look at his athleticism while hanging onto those ropes as Rey beats him, is there anything the man can't do?

When it comes down to it, I think we've got either Orton or HHH. They might swerve us and go with someone totally different, but I literally don't know who it'd be.

I'm going with Orton only because HHH already has a Rumble win on his resume. Then again, HHH also already did that whole 'I lost the Rumble but still found a way into the main event of WM' storyline last year anyway.

It's honestly a toss-up. I'll still stand behind Orton, though.

Is it just me, or is there more actual wrestling in this rumble thus far than any other year, rather than repeated elimination attempts

If you're keeping count, post here if someone entering the Rumble match wasn't announced beforehand. I *think* only 23 names were listed up until the show started, so we're in for some surprises.

And it may be predictable, but I could deal with a big return surprise #30 every year. Cena's return was soopa cool. EVEN if it was Cena. !

I wonder if this Matt heel turn will signal Matt Hardy: Version 2.0?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Kozlov wins the Rumble, if not Orton.

Yeah, I'll go with MVP as my dark horse pick. Totally not going to happen, but I'd love to see it. It'd certainly fall into the rumored 'big push' he'd get after the losing streak.

For reference, I just want another 'Benoit year', where they really use the Rumble to elevate someone who needs it. HHH can get a title shot whenever he wants, he doesn't need this match.
I liked how well JR and Tazz sold the betrayal.

Anyway, yay Edge. Doesn't this win put him at #3 on the list of most WWE title (either) wins behind Rock (9) and HHH (12)?
Number of title reigns doesn't mean jack at this point, at least not to me. How many title changes have their been in the last year on both shows? 12, 13? Every time Edge gets the belt it gets less and less impressive. IMO, total time with the belt, not wins, is much more telling about someone's ability to stay over.
Right. Because I was being literal.
You were. Skaaland/ Roosevelt was one for the ages, particulary the second fall that went for 74 minutes. Frank Gotch was actually seen weeping backstage over the beauty of it.

I swear to Christ someone intentionally stitched a bullethole over the butthole in JTG's pants as a joke.
That was kind of childish, even for Cryme Time.
Oh, ho-ho! You can't trust those shady, cheating black folks! A message brought to you by WWE.

Why the fuck are all these tag team members coming out first? It is just silly because we all know that they aren't going to win.

Oh, I agree that's it totally meaningless at this point. However, total time doesn't mean all that much, especially considering that Stone Cold, arguably the second biggest wrestler ever, had extremely short title reigns, both individually and total.

It's just nice to realize how far Edge has come since the Brood, meaningless or not.

I agree, there is the handful of guys who didn't need it (Austin, Rock,Taker, HBK). I just wish there were less of them with longer reigns. It would be a much bigger deal. At this point there is a title change between one of the big 2 belts at every PPV. It's just yawn-inducing.

Enjoyed the Rey thing.

Sidenote: Best part of the Rumble? People like Mike Knox and Finlay getting to kick the shit of HHH. It's hilarious, and makes me wished it happened more often.

Exactly, better to get them out of the way first.
