The Star Trek III (Back from the Dead) Thread
Braga didn't die, he works on 24 now. He worked on Threshold last year(?).
Threshhold was 2006 I believe. That was a good show (scary too). Anyways some trek producer died of cancer I believe. I thought it was Braga.

Edit: Ok it was Michael Piller who died of cancer. He was the guy behind some of the best Trek episodes.

Here it is... The Enterprise:

wow. Glad they didn't redo the entire ship and kept a lot of the original design in the new ship.

Can't wait for the trailer on Friday!

Maybe this has been clarified already, but is this new movie a true "prequel" or is it more of a retelling? I was assuming "prequel" but with a different looking Enterprise I guess that might not be the case.

According to the producers, it's some meshing of prequel and reboot. It takes place in the "one and only" Trek timeline, but there are some obvious changes to technology/ships/etc

I agree with you but, it also should be noted that
in terms of timeline, the movie takes place years after Nemesis, but involves Time Travel back to the Kirk era.

So are they going to have a character from the current trek timeline actually going back in time? Kinda like in trials and tribulations from DS9?

Ya, Nimoy is playing the older Spock, who travels back, who apparently looks a lot older than in the TNG episodes he was in.

I wonder if he'll mention Kirk dieing, i just realized that they never showed anyone telling Spock about Kirk dieing in Generations.

He knows, Jim. He KNOWS. :D

Holy cow!

I just came back from Quantum of Solaris (ok movie). I was waiting for the damn trailer and the beginning part totally threw me off!

-Kid Kirk drives a convertible off a cliff then this officer steps in and the kid says his full name.
-Scene of Kirk riding a motocycle and then stop to watch the construction of the Enterprise on the ground
-Scene of Sarak and Spock's mother just before Spock is born.
-Spock before some council.
-Some real high end space battle with a shit load of explosions! :hot:
-Kirk on a cliff and some sort of beam
-A wierd looking romulan.
-Uhura taking off her shirt and showing off her bra.
-Scotty
-Sulu
-Another star ship (may be the other star fleet ship leaked a few months ago).

Can't wait for the Monday HD release on quicktime..or on XB Live!

The one thing i worry about is that this may end up being less sci-fi and more action oriented. To try and appeal to the non Trek fans.

HD Goodness

The effects around spock on the planet *may* be the new transporter effect. At first I thought it was a time/space displacement caused by something older spock did.

This is going to be one fucking amazing movie. Terminator has some real work cut out for it.
Holy shit!

Oh man...I hope this comes out on Imax.
oh it will be................it will be....

I enjoyed the trailer. It looks different from what we usually get from the Star Trek franchise, but really that's not such a bad thing, sometimes a franchise needs to reinvent itself after it starts to get stale.

I'll be there on the opening weekend along with my dad since we're both big Star Trek fans.

That was great. I especially loved it when Data was laughing when they were talking about how the Star Destroyer only had lasers.

I laughed when they kept on firing their lasers and everything was being bounced back and the crew was just sitting there.

GUILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will get you back for this!!

:bomb:

I usually hate Rick Rolls, but I actually laughed at this one.

My favorite Star Trek scene is probably the one from Enterprise's In a Mirror Darkly where Zefram Cochrane shoots and kills the occupants of the T'Plana-Hath. I missed the preview for that episode when it aired and it made me go WTF. Then the intro played and I realized it was a mirror episode.

That Mirror two parter was the best of season 4. The intro was really cool.

I may be the odd one out, but Enterprise is probably my favorite Star Trek series (with TNG and DS9 being real close as well). I like how the humans are the under dog and how they are extremely weak compared to most of the other civilizations they run into. I liked Season 1 and 2 of Enterprise because it felt like the more old school Star Trek. Season 3 was pretty good, but it was less about exploration and more about killing the Xindi. Season 4 though (besides the finale) was probably some of the best Star Trek ever.

Also, what do you guys think of an entire series in the Mirror Universe?

Season 1 and 2 were good, with season 2 being a really good one (that borg one was outstanding). Season 3 was crap. Season 4 put the show in the right direction but those crack heads at paramount didn't give it a chance.
I didn't really like the borg episode much, mostly because enterprise shouldn't have stood a chance against them.
At least it wasn't like Voyager. They made the Borg total jobbers. Janeway getting weapons from the future and kicking the Borg's ass all the time... man that was dumb!
