The "Stay Classy, Republicans" Super Nintendo Chalmers Thread
Oh I get West, he's a conservative white male stuck in the early 20th century. What I don't get is why those women seem to be right there with him. Why anyone would just sit there and let people verbally shit all over them without even realizing it is beyond me.
Sad thing is I had seen him on Meet the Press just before he joined congress and I thought he had potential. He seemed very centrist and rational....then when he got in office I dont know WTF happened.

Interesting article on the growth of the Chinese economy.

"There are two systems in collision," said Ralph Gomory, research professor at NYU's Stern business school. "They have a state-guided form of capitalism, and we have a much freer former of capitalism." What we have seen, he said, is "a massive shift in capability from the U.S. to China. What we have done is traded jobs for profit. The jobs have moved to China. The capability erodes in the U.S. and grows in China. That's very destructive. That is a big reason why the U.S. is becoming more and more polarized between a small, very rich class and an eroding middle class. The people who get the profits are very different from the people who lost the wages."

Shit I got him and Grayson mixed up. In two ways apparently. My fault.

I just think it's strange that God might plow the field when his first string narrow vision thumpers are lining up for the next play. You think he has that big of an issue with Jesus being pronounced "Jayzuz?" 'Cuz man, c'mon on, God. For real homeskillet, gotta be frontin'.

I mean no one had a problem when white people screamed about minorities getting trashed, so where's the outspoken individuals bringing the comeuppance? Comeuppance, you tards. It's a real word. It might even be in your Bible. Maybe not in the pictorial versions, it's kind of a bitch to draw.

Sally Kern an Oklahoma state rep while voting on a bill that would end Affirmative Action made the following comments

"Iv taught school and I saw a lot of people of color who didnt study hard because they said the goverment would take care of them."

We want your help, and, oh, fuck you, too. By the way, advance warning - we're going to criticize your federal aid for being too late, too small, and too expensive.

The way Republicans frame their messages in convolutedly contradictory ways - to the delight and support of Republican voters - is a thing to behold.

http://www.tnr.com/blog/jonathan-cohn/87862/rubio-ryan-republican-budget-medicare-cut

Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio appeared on the “Meet the Press.”

Here’s what Rubio said:

The Ryan plan doesn't cut Medicare. Actually, it increases funding in it. And the only people in this town that have voted to cut Medicare are the people that supported Obamacare, that cut half a trillion dollars over the next 10 years out of Medicare and is using it to fund a healthcare experiment somewhere outside of Medicare. The only people in this town that have voted to cut Medicare spending are the people who voted in favor of Obamacare. That's a fact. And so the truth is the people.

The last time Congress declared war was, indeed, WW2.

I'd like to think that the older gentleman who brought that up was deriding the policy of committing acts of war without declaring war, but I can't say for sure that he was using that fact in the same fashion that I do.

I don't know if this guy really identifies himself as "Republican" or not, but I'm going to throw this in here because I feel I should air my dirty laundry somewhere.

I was out with a group of co-workers today when the subject of Bin Laden's photos came up. Someone slipped at the tongue and said "Obama Bin Laden" and this one co-worker said something along the lines of "Yeah, I'd like to see assassination photos of Obama..." I immediately looked at him and said his name in that very unapproving tone that your parents would when you speak out of line.. He "defended" himself by saying that he just couldn't stand the guy and the country would be better if it happened.

:(

I know y'all think I'm far right and a crack pot and all, but I suppose, at least, I'm not that far gone.

So, you're to the left of someone who wants the President assassinated.

Congratulations.

Welcome to Liberaltown. Sit a spell, we've got some TVP barbecue coming right up.

I never knew what TVP was until today.

Thanks!

I wouldn't say I'm "left" of someone who'd make a statement like this - this is something that transcends politics.

Not a surprise, because everybody at a stereotypical office workplace is republician.

On the Obama birthing issue.. But but.. Hawaii wasn't a state when he was born.

We all thought you did that as a tongue-in-cheek joke.

Are you suggesting democrats dont work?

I don't know why it happens, lol but it does. I'm trying to figure out why it only seems to go one way. I haven't heard anyone calling him Barack Osama or President Osama. But Obama bin Laden seems to happen a lot.

It has got to be the closeness of the names. We have heard so much about Obama in the news that when we talk about bin laden we get the name mixed up a bit. Tongue twisters.

http://exiledonline.com/a-peoples-h...ies-how-stalin-funded-the-tea-party-movement/

the Tea Party movement—and Koch family’s obscene wealth—go back more than half a century, all the way to grandpa Fredrick C. Koch, one of the founding members of the far-rightwing John Birch Society which was convinced that evil socialism was taking over America through unions, colored people, Jews, homosexuals, the Kennedys and even Dwight D. Eisenhower.

These days, the Kochs paint themselves as true-believer Libertarians of the Austrian School. Charles Koch, the elder brother who runs the family business in Wichita, Kansas, quotes the wisdom of proto-libertarian “economist” Ludwig von Mises, but also sees himself as a thinker in his own right. In 2007, Charles made his contribution to the body of free-market thought with an economic theory he calls Market-Based Management® (trademark protected, of course), which he lays out in a book titled the Science of Success. A Forbes reviewer seemed a bit disturbed by Charles’ overt socialist leanings, writing that the “author professes an almost Marxist faith in the ‘fixed laws’ that ‘govern human well-being.’”

David Koch is the highbrow brother who lives in New York. He ran as the Libertarian party candidate for vice-president in 1980 and says that his dream is to “minimize the role of government, to maximize the role of private economy and to maximize personal freedoms.” Apparently everyone’s a free-market enthusiast at Koch Industries, including their spokeswoman, who recently wrote a letter to the New York Times stating that “it’s a historical fact that economic freedom best fosters innovation, environmental protection and improved quality of life in a society.” It might be true somewhere for someone, but not for the Kochs—they owe it all to socialism and totalitarianism.

I can see someone, especially a rich business person being deluded enough to believe that free market economics are better for the economy as a whole or that they foster innovation....but to argue it is the best method for environmental protection is mind boggling. I mean trickle down economics is about as stupid as stupid gets and obviously does not work...but I can see where people can delude themselves in to believing it does. But you have to be fucking insane to believe the free market protects the environment.

The most bizarre thing about the Kochs it that for all their prattling on the free market, etc. They simply won the birth lotto and obtained wealth through their father. Granted they leveraged it into something more (with the heavy hand of the Gov't they seem to despise so much) but they are simply successful parasites.

They remind me of a quote from Barry Switzer "Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple"

Bill Maher did it last night on his show, so don't feel bad.

Just like it did back when the Cuyahoga river was burning, multiple times.

The problem with trickle down is that it does work, but in the wrong way. We've had an explosion of wealth since 1980, but incomes have remained largely stagnant since then. Of course, if you show your average luddite that we've had an explosion of wealth since the 80's, due to trickle down economics, then you'll convince the mouth breather that they themselves are infact wealthier even though it's false.

It's amazing how ideas change absed on who had them. When person A has the idea it's great, when person B has the same idea it's horrible because they belong to a different party.
