We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

I got two coups as my gifts, it's a shame we can't use them until January 2nd though it's not like we're not already getting pretty deep discounts on most of the games. Hoping for CS:S though.
May pick up fable and the humble indie bundle(finally) today.

Anyways, this is the worse Steam stability I have ever seen - it's almost 4 hours after the sale beginning and still much of the store is unviewable half the time.
 
I was finally able to see my two gifts in the inventory which are a 50% off a Valve game coupon and 50% off Universe Sandbox coupon both are
​
 valid from Jan. 2nd, 2012 to March 1st, 2012. Seems that the coupons are tradeable
 
Do you get a price per thing you do each day?

So far i have viewed my inventory and did the Orcs Must Die achievement, but i only have 1 gift.

Ok, my game was Altitude. Now I didn't buy Altitude, but it does say I have it and it also says I can gift it. Yay? Or will it error when I try to gift it?
 
My inventory on my other account won't even show a steam tab.. makes me think it glitched and didn't get a gift, the steam tab usually showed on my main account after I got the gift.

I only have one gift despite trying numerous times. I don't see how people were able to get three games already when I couldn't even redeem one ticket since 1PM. I logged in with my girlfriend's account, too, and tried to get something for her for free. Her inventory page has Portal 2 inventory tab, but no game. :(

Just a heads up. That iD complete pack has Rage on it. So it's an alright deal for the price.

Jesus, 4 and a half hours and Steam is still borked. I really hope that they servers get better for tomorrow.

I thought the Max Payne series was great. That said, I haven't played either game since they came out, and a lot has changed in games since their release, so I don't know how well they've held up.

In a nutshell: the good is the pulp/noir story and graphic novel style cutscenes. The bad is that a lot of it boils down to bullet-time (slow-mo) sequences of shooting guys and moving forward to the next group of guys (who you shoot at in slow-mo).

I think you can still find a demo of the first game. Good price for the sale, though.

It isn't that I don't like the games - I have a great time playing The Wonderful End of the World, for example - but I don't like the achievements they post for these events. One of the most egregious offenses being the "Delete your save game and play through the entire game getting A+'s in one sitting". Not only is that a cruel thing to ask of people playing the meta game, but it was worded poorly causing people to start a game from scratch, completing it with A+'s only to realize they actually had to create a game save first and then delete it.

They aren't alone though, so perhaps singling them out isn't fair. The Super Meat Boy achievement was horrible as well, demanding you advance well into the (famously difficult) game.

Man imagine if they threw in a 50-75% off any Bethesda title...
or what about just "any" title on steam. Probably drive some mad just thinkin of what to choose. but then again, there are some obvious choices. a couple of them though...
 
on second glance my coupon is terrible. 50% off a valve game (future valve games do not count, it only works on games released BEFORE Jan 2) and it expires in march...

Has anyone here had any experience with Singularity? As far as I know this is the lowest it has ever been. The game looks really fun. If anyone has any opinions please share! :)

I have a steam tab that says (2), but when I click on it, it says I don't have any gifts. Weird.
 
Trendy Ent just retweeted someone who got Dungeon Defenders free as a Steam gift from this promo. Perhaps there are some good non-Valve games to be had.

Bought that one during the Thanksgiving sale while sitting at the airport. Best $1 to prevent layover boredom I've ever spent. As soon as I got home I used Gamesaves Manager to setup a symbolic link with dropbox so that I can use the same save seamlessly on my desktop and laptop.

It's slightly creepy, but action packed with a great story. The weapons were diverse and a ton of fun. It also contains 3 endings. I had a blast with the multiplayer. You get to play as the creatures and they all play differently. I'm sure the multiplayer is dead by now, though.

I have the Steam and it apparently has 1 item in it.Their just overloaded right now.

Thanks for the reply, VindictiveGnome. Looks like this is going to be a buy from me! It sucks the multiplayer is dead but that's okay. I always enjoy a good FPS. Action packed with a great story? Sold. :D
