We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

Thanks for that. It was getting quite confusing because my inventory is glitching out. Everytime I send a gift, the gift gets duplicated in my inventory. I bought the Bunch of Heroes 4 pack to give to my friends, and now I have 7 copies of it in my inventory. It just appears that way, I cant actually send all 7 of them.

Well I checked my inventory for my free gift. Then I checked the gift and nothing else happened. Just a 33% off coupon for a Valve game and nothing else. Some folks are really getting hooked up on here! Wish I was one of them :(
 
Okay, so, I did one objective and the steam objective, I should have three gifts, right? But it only says I should have two.

People doing the TF2 fix, does that fix this, or do you have to have 'you should have three' gifts but one just isn't appearing?
 
My wife just came home from work and woke me up to deliver me pizza in bed(I slept in)and news that she passed a Calc exam she thought she had bombed and would mean retaking the class. I am calling it right now for these were Omens. Today will be an amazing day and that means Steam will have the best sales ever today.

Nah that was a few weeks ago. Told me to come to the garage to help her carry some stuff in to the house and she was wearing nothing but heels and a fishnet body suit. Dammit longshot....now you have me confused...maybe this wasnt a sign that this will be the best day ever and thus the best steam sale ever. Maybe that day already passed ;) *wonders if that was the day he got Bastion for like $3*

I am feeling really good today, went to a gamestop to pick up my SW TOR preorder and no one inline (usually there is like 1-2 stupid parents with some long ass transaction and they know nothing but I was the only one there). Lets keep this good day going Steam with some great dailies :D

Today is going to be my achievement whoring day after my downloads finish and Steam posts the dailies. I want to get as many as I can done today from the games I own.
 
That's a pretty good catch, loading your inventory in a F2P game. I'll try it. Most likely received coal, but I keep getting this pop-up for Renegade Ops whenever I log in...

What I really want to do is check out this other gift I got, the Codemasters Racing Pack. I opened it, and the games are in my Library, but it still shows up in my inventory as a gift. Wondering whether I have two or not.

Good luck on Old Republic :) I am loving it so far. Let me know if you want to party up or anything :) Also you may want to install it and make sure you have all the data it's 25 GB or at least my prerelease copy is. Not sure how much of that they fit on the disc(s) (Haven't opened my retail copy yet).


On another note the whole gift system in general is borked. I have items i just purchased and put in my inventory that aren't even showing up.
 
Looks like it's just the Max Payne bundle and the Pendulo bundle for me, as I have most of the games from past sales, and a couple of them (Singularity, Fable III) on Xbox 360 without the need to rebuy them.

I got friends who are starting on Christmas so I am going to wait till they start the game. So I will be starting on Christmas, anyway I have the game installed and ready to go. I made a character already but waiting till the 25th to start.

Besides I got tons of Steam stuff to play. Maybe achievement whoring will make me want to play something off my list *looks at games like Bastion* :lol:
 
Still missing two things from my inventory as well as the Portal 2 tab which disappeared yesterday evening. Tried both the TF2 and Portal 2 fixes, even logged into the site via browser rather than Steam client and it all comes up the same.

Installing Sprial Knights now to see if that does the trick, but I don't have high hopes.

Interestingly, one of the things I did while rooting through my TF2 backpack was to open the Halloween item. Got the Seal Mask and an accessory for the Heavy. Now the Inventory still shows the same number it had before, but the two new items are displayed, as well as the Halloween item which should be gone.

For what it's worth, Spiral Knights set my Inventory right when the Portal 2 and TF2 backpacked failed to do so.

Tell me about it. I bought 2 copies in a 4 pack from a fellow CAG last night and man was that the worst experience of my life. The guy sent us each our copy and it didnt go through, so he sent again. Well I got mine, my friend didnt get his but the guy from CAG said it showed my friend got his on his end PLUS another of his copies went missing. The guy sent me messages about it all day long. Then finally at 1 in the freaking mourning I get a message from him asking how well I know the friend he gifted the game to. He said he wasnt accusing him, yet everything he was saying sounded accusatory. For like 2 more hours it went back and forth with this guy.....and all over Bunch of Heroes....a crappy game no one likes that cost $1.88. I mean at one point when I finally told the guy look I could just walk away and end this right now, I can show I sent payment for 2 copies....he actually responded "this isnt over till I have 4 copies of this game" and threatened to open a case against me here at CAG.

I mean seriously I dont know if I have ever had a bad CAG experience in my 50-60 or so trades....but that guy proves that the one bad experience can be as bad as all the good. All of that would have been comical enough to begin with, but that the whole thing was over a game that cost $1.88 and on a day when steam was this buggy.....sigh...just sigh.
 
Yeah I had a couple trades last night take a bit to show up. Even now the stuff I traded shows up in the inventory.


The thing is, if you just were receiving a game, it should be in ur library ready to install. I traded a guy some games for Metro 2033 and I couldnt unpack my gift in the inventory but it was in my Game Library.

Sounds like a crappy situation on both sides. That is one of the reasons I usually prefer to do gifting via email rather than steam name and or trading. Its easier to track and faster in my opinion. This new system looks like it will be better when it starts working as intended but the lag is insane. I have about a dozen games I gifted yesterday still showing up in my inventory today. I also bought a few things this morning that I wasnt 100% on and added them to my inventory to decide to keep, sell, or gift later and none of them have showed up at all. But hey at least I have that 33% off valve title coupon and 3 pieces of coal to make it all better :)

No luck with Spiral Knights here, although I don't see a way to move things around in my backpack. Spiral Knights has a auto-order inventory that you sort by different attributes.

If I understand this game correctly, I should have 4 items: 1 for logging in, 1 for checking my inventory, 1 for an Orcs Must Die achievement and 1 for an Anomaly achievement. Right now all I see is 1 item: a 20% off coupon.

Yeah I understood it would suck if he was out $1.88 for that game and I understood his frustration....but not taking out on other people nor wigging out over such a paltry sum. And as for the new steam system....it just seems stupid to debut it during a sale. I mean its like doing construction on a business during December. You dont alter things during the busy season.

Yeah same here. Was hoping it would be 5 already. Its been 7.50 before. Kinda regret flipping a copy from BBV after not playing it for too long. It did give a Bioshock feel to it.
 
Did I get both steam gifts, I can't tell? It says 1 gift including HL2 Team Deathmatch, HL2 Lost Coast, HL Deathmatch Source, HL2 Episode 1. Is that only one gift? I even rearranged my items in my backpack in TF2 to try and get the second gift to unlock.

If the trade-in value of the 360 title somewhere is the same as the Steam game cost, then that's another reason to switch it over to PC.

Okay I did the Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Orcs Must Die, and the Steam objectives. I got 3 Holiday Coal and HL2 Team Deathmatch, HL2 Lost Coast, HL Deathmatch Source, HL2 Episode 1. I guess I got all the gifts, i mean half of those valve games were already free but whatever.
 
whoa, the store is working for me. unexpected. half-life, duke, recettear, red orchestra, the witcher, tropico 4, costume quest, dungeons of dredmor, modern warfare 2, lego batman, theater of war and sacred are today's deals.
 
Looks like I'm not spending any money today. Oh well. Probably for the best to be honest. Heads up to people who have me added on Steam, if I get a pack and have one left over I've been kinda just throwing them out there at random to people. If you see a gift from Valen Korde, it's legit.
 
Anyone notice that they're holding over yesterday's deals for a little less than four hours? Look at the bottom of the page.

I guess after all the issues they had with the main page on the first sale day, they're holding over the sales to compensate for that.
