Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Which retail CD Keys are accepted on Steam?

I was about to pick up Fallout New Vegas and the DLC and though that it would be $25 for the game + 3 DLC packs. Since we have another one on the way, that would be another $5 for the last DLC at half off, making it $30.

I would be very surprised if we didn't see a F: NV GOTY edition like we did F3 GOTY edition. I'd also be surprised if we didn't see said F: NV GOTY edition on sale at least half off at some point. We've had F3 GOTY edition at $10 or there abouts twice in the last couple of months, so waiting out for F: NV GOTY edition won't be a bad thing.

I was able to pick up the Elder Scrolls Pack on Friday (Haven't played these games in forever).
Is New Vegas worth the 10 bucks? I wasn't a huge fan of Fallout 3

Bought NV and played it all afternoon/night yesterday... now I am torn over picking up the DLC. I think I will wait until they are all out and on sale in the winter...

That's how I feel

I know there's going to be a GOTY version and I have enough of a backlog of games with the Witcher to wait around for that to happen, I know if I get it now I'll curse myself for acting too early and being able to get a lot more content for a lot less.

Can i get some quick help please? i just bought red alert3, RA uprising, Tiberium Wars from Origin.com /EA

Can i play those game on steam? if yes.. how? thanks

No, check op for link of games that can be registered on Steam.

$25 for the game + all current DLC didn't seem like that much of a great deal right now.

According to "the list" (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601): no.

Rule of thumb: unless the game requires Steam (for example, Civ 5), always assume the key will not work on Steam. Of course there are exceptions, but they are rare and few in between.

In your Steam library, click the "Add a game" button at the bottom, then "Add a non-steam game". This will pop up a list of programs installed on your computer, if your games aren't on the list cilck the browse button to add them manually.

This isn't exactly the same as buying a game on Steam, you won't get full integration. But for these games it won't make much difference anyways, as they don't use any Steam features. You'll still get the overlay and the ability to launch from Steam, though.

You can't add them to your Steam account, but you can play them through your Steam client.
Just a question but isn't this the same list that's on the first post?
Some people are too lazy sometimes, or simply aren't aware that the list is posted there, like me! =] I just google "Steam retail" and it's the first result. =]
So it looks like today is Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals at 50% off for $2.49. http://store.steampowered.com/app/11370/

I'm curious too; I've seen it on the shelves in the bargain sections.

The Gamespot review makes it sound eminently missable. The last adventure-type game I suffered through (Culpa Innata) was too recent, so I'm passing on it.

I wouldn't expect a cheap NV GOTY for a while. There's at least one more DLC coming and maybe more from what I've read. I think $25 was a decent deal for those that want to play now instead of waiting what will probably be at least a year before NV GOTY hits what F3 GOTY has been going for lately.

Keys can be different, depending upon the source of purchase. Hence the reason for the format examples beside each game. Typically, if a game can be activated on Steam, all legitimate sources are applicable. When you buy a game from a third party DD and want to add it to your Steam account, you just view the CD key (most often sent in the purchase confirmation email).
So does anyone want to trade me Dungeons of Dredmor for my copies Rome Gold Total War and Woody Two-Legs or Humble Bundle 2.

So the deal is Rome Gold and a choice of either Woody Two Legs or Humble Bundle 2.

All of them are Steam games including Rome. Send me a PM with your Steam ID.
Dont use this thread to trade games.

I'm starting to realize that steam is just my pimp sending me out to get money so I can get my next fix.

Come on big daddy, mama needs Shogun 2 for Christmas!

No worries. I must of being blind. I did i a search for trading threads but couldn't see anything. Looking manually through the forums i found the right section now.

Just an FYI, since some of the modern graphics cards are including free copies of Shogun 2 as steam keys, people are selling them on ebay. I bought one for $20 instead of waiting for a sale :)

Or even here on CAG. I picked up Shogun 2 and Dirt 3 from xspeedracerx for a lovely low price of $20. I would check the tread forums and I am sure you will find yourself a cheap copy.

Yeah, I dislike the search tools on this forum. I can never, ever find a thread I know 110% in my bones exists unless I trawl through the forum history page by page, subscribe to it, or go through my post history.

On topic now: Has anyone found a solid release date for Renegade Ops? I have a preorder but I can only find vague info that it'll be released next month (I think).

I think the thing I regret most from Summer Sale (I know, i'ts long gone and past...) is not picking up Amnesia Dark Descent. ):

A co-worked pushed the movie version of this game on me a couple years ago. Here is the trailer: Immortal

It was sort of Blade-Runner-meets-The-5th-Element, only darker, with elements of Egyptian mythology and an Eastern-European feeling to the direction, and without the budget of either of those films.

Both the game and the movie were sourced in a graphic novel. So maybe watch the trailer - if that interests you, that's about what you'll be seeing in the game.

My friend tried the game and didn't like it, but he LOVES the movie. I didn't much care for the movie and never tried the game. Hope this helps.

Won't be picking up the game but the movie looked interesting enough. I am going to watch it one night this week, thanks!

I actually bought that movie from a pile of 1-2 euro deals. I watched it and didn't get the movie at all :p so it kind of sucked to me. The game looks nice, but I don't think it's very interesting.

How the hell haven't I heard of this movie? Thanks man!

Terraria is a must buy IMO.

I played Sniper Elite about 7 years ago and loved it. Not sure how it's held up however.
Midweek madness is apparently Terraria at 50% off.

Ack. Just installed Steam on my newly built machine (from like a 10 year hiatus)...

Picked up Orange Box, QuakeCon Pack, and HIB#3... now Terraria is on sale?!

And the backlog continues to increase. I need more hours in the day!

I already have minecraft and am not a fan of old school 2D arcade games so I see no appeal whatsoever to purchase Terraria.

Having that been said, is there a group buy thread for Terraria? At $3.75, the game sounds quite tempting.
