Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

This is the first time that I don't get any of the daily deals in the first three days of a Steam sale. I already had what was interesting (to me, of course). If I didn't already have Arkham City from getting a video card, I'd definitely get it now. Too bad I don't care about the challenge maps, or else I'd get the DLC.

As much as I like Telltale games, I'll pass Jurassic Park until it's 10 or lower.
I just got a free copy of Nimbus, which I already own and is pretty fun. Would anyone be willing to trade for another game?

I'd love to trade it for a copy of Defense Grid with the dlc.
I will trade you Farming Simulator 2011 for it.............................. Honestly this is worse than coal because coal is something people at least want....

I don't own any of the the STALKER games - but they look cool - anyone ever played them with any recommendations for them? $8+ worth it for the three? Are they all standalone or is the Pripyt one an expansion of the chernoble one?
Any thoughts on Payday the heist? Also damn, Rage is tempting at that price.
I have 8 hours of gametime and I enjoy it. My other buddies (who I shared a 4 pack with) have 30-40 hours apiece. It's definitely a game you need to play in co-op to fully enjoy. There are only 6 missions right now, but replaying them is enjoyable. Increasing the difficulty changes enemy tactics and certain mission objectives (or extends the missions altogether).

Oh man that's one game people are winning?

That's been on my wishlist since it was released!

Thanks for the feed back JawnMan.

Also Kaltic since that game rarely goes on sale anybody who does want it might be willing to trade something decent for it. So might want to look into that.
I am tempted to jump on Jurassic Park but I was hoping to get that for my 360. Anyone know which version is better?
Steam version supports controller too.

Got a coupon for 50% off Shattered Horizon! Even though it's already 50% off in this sale. Still don't like these coupons.
Inventory is hosed right now, so I can't see if I got anything. But, considering it still says "2", it probably means I got some more coal.
I am done even trying with this sale. Honestly 90% of people are getting junk from it anyways and the inventory or achievements are broke 90% of the time anyways. Your chance to actually get the achievements you need and get a decent game are too slim, its just not worth the time.

I kind of want Jurassic Park on PC but I got it for Free on PSN by renewing my PS+ account. However it plays horrible on PS3. Sigh its a bit pricey to double dip.
Has anyone played Jurassic Park? I'm tempted but the reviews slam it pretty hard all around.
I'm trying to decide. I messed with the first episode on a friend's iPad and thought it was okay.

Mount & Blade = Single player only
Warband = Same single player as original with added content and tweaks plus online multiplayer
With Fire & Sword = A reworking of a game which was released after the original but before Warband but came out in English speaking territories after Warband. (many call this a paid-mod but I like it)

Warband if you just want one.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R is far more of a subjective series: Shadow of Chernobyl is the first, Clear Skies is a prequel which some don't care for, and Call of Pripyat is the sequel which some feel is the most refined and a good starting place.

I can't pick just one of those as I enjoy them all but I personally lean towards Shadow of Chernobyl. (also get the complete mods: http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/ )
Has anyone played Jurassic Park? I'm tempted but the reviews slam it pretty hard all around.
From what I have heard its similar to Back to the Future, that being more of a cinematic experience than an actual adventure game experience. I didnt care for Back to the Future, for that very reason, but for some reason I am still tempted to buy this.

I just wish Telltale would go back to making actual adventure games like Sam & Max and Monkey Island. The last thing the adventure genre needs is another company deciding to give up on making them. I just dont care for the kind of game they are producing now. They just licensed Walking Dead from AMC so you know their next game is going to be this style game as well Such a bummer.
I'm trying to decide. I messed with the first episode on a friend's iPad and thought it was okay.
Unless you really want it or the achievment, I would wait. It will hit $10 and maybe $7.50 sooner rather than later. The reviews have been harsh and it has had its fair share of bugs.

Thanks for the info on Jurassic Park guys. I'll pass and put that $15 towards Rage instead.

Hmm, now to try the demos for some of the Sherlock Holmes games

Going to take a potshot on Defense Grid because nothing else (save for the now-withdrawn Warner Bros Pack Of Awesome) has really tempted me so far this sale.

I'm regretting Bunch of Heroes already and I haven't even played it :D
i can't help but notice the shocking number of posts that aren't directed towards the goal of telling me whether i should get the gundemonium collection or not.
Maybe wait and see if it goes on daily deal by the end of the sale. Definitely buy it though before the sale is up. Gundeadligne is one of my favorite shmups in general, and the other two are pretty great as well. The sale price is already an excellent value, I just figure you could get even more savings if it does end up featured. :D

Is this the lowest the Mount & Blade Complete pack has been? I'm debating on that, but I don't know if I'll ever see a better deal anytime soon.

Finally got Batman AC for under $30 because I posted I was looking for it in my CML. Anybody notice that the WB Games Complete Pack disappeared after the first day it Batman, LOTR, F.E.A.R.3 and more for $74.99 and I was going to pick it up if I didn't get a good deal on Batman AC solo.

If you like adventure games, I would recommend you skip Jurassic Park and get the Sherlock Holmes pack. I have only played one of the Sherlock Holmes games, but it was way better than Jurassic Park and you get 6 games for half the price. Then again, you don't get any coal, so if that is your bag, then bag it up.

Is that complete Nancy Drew collection (39.99) a rare deal or do you see it on a frequent basis with Steam Sales? I am tempted to buy that but would rather hold off its going to rear its head somewhere down the road. Have already spent so so much.

By the way, I have a 25% off Valve coupon that I really have no use for at all. Would be willing to give it to someone if they wanted it.
I would wait on Rage. I dont see a timer at all for its price and it may be cheaper later on in the sale but i doubt it.
There's a timer now, little over 27 hours left, same amount as the daily deals. Is this just one of those hidden daily deals kinda like psychonauts because I don't see Rage on the front page.

For comparison's sake, did you like Back to the Future?

On the game's page, I see a timer for a little over 27 hours and counting down...

I did notice this as well, I was going to do the exact same thing as you. Though that complete pack was good if you didn't have anything from there.

Alright, I have the following in my cart. Could anyone tell me if these have been any cheaper and if you'd recommend them?

Mount & Blade: Complete
The Sherlock Holmes Collection
Swords and Soldiers HD
Defense Grid: The Awakening

I got a "the wonderful end of the world" and a couple coals from the ones i did yesterday. Want to actually play psychonauts, so holding of on that acheivement.

Is there someplace that is listing the acheivements for the day (since I have to log into steam to see it from here, which I cannot do for some reason)
