Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Side note, there's a game not available in my region? wat.
I am getting the same thing, the Two Tribes game I think.
My issue with these bans is that it shows, without a doubt, we own nothing we've purchased on steam. They aren't ours, and they can be taken away at a moments notice. And the response will be 'but you have to do something wrong for them to do that!' And that's true...

But steam has absolutely no arbitration system, so whatever they decide is wrong is 'wrong' and whomever they ban is screwed.

I don't like that feeling.
The same happens with the 360. Don't do the wrong thing and you've gotten nothing to worry about.

Yeah I was ok with vac bans. You can still own your games just no playing online. What this is is an agreciois abuse of power

Hey, got the Penny Arcade combo pack as a reward today. I already have it but at least I may be able to trade it for something I don't have.
The same happens with the 360. Don't do the wrong thing and you've gotten nothing to worry about.
It's not the same. Microsoft won't come to my house and take all my games. They ban me from playing online

gone

Aside from that, from the look of that profile, she must have a huge following. She could kind of say that her fans gave it to her, not that she actually did it. RAWR!

Ah, didn't know that.

No games for me today. And I got coal for the Facebook achievement. I don't think I'll bother with the L4D achievement.

Oops I was wrong, I didn't get a prize for the Facebook thing yet.

Probably nothing for me again. Though Edge says not available in your region? In the US? Very strange.

And damn those are some terrible prices. DS3 for 4 times as much, LOTR for 3 times, and Mafia 2 is still not $5. Kind of a sad day. Hopefully GetGamesGo gets SS3 back in stock.
I don't agree with what these people did but I think its probably going to far to ban accounts. I can see some legitimate users getting wrapped up in this or people that were taking advantage of the system but all within steams rules. Quite honestly if they don't want people to exploit things like this they shouldn't have promotions they can get or they should limit the free ticket promotions to accounts created 30 days or more ago. There are better ways to handle this and I think Steam chose about the worst possible method.
That is a good point. Banning people for using a faulty system in which they now are a bit unhappy with the outcome of isn't the right approach. While, yeah actually costing humble indie bundle a bunch of money is wrong, but they did make the system so you could spend .01 to get a legit steam account and then steam encouraged it with this promotion.

While people may have abused it to the extreme they didn't actually do anything physically wrong. If steam is banning on morals then this is a unique company. And yes, I agree abusing the system like this is wrong, but still it didn't go against their own system that they decided to put in place.

Also people think about this for one second before posting remarks on how everyone should be banned. Have you ever congratulated someone for getting in on an Amazon (or other company) price mistake? How is this really any different? Both "took advantage" of something and some people. Oh yeah, one of them has a charity in it.

I've always had that "finite" feeling about my Steam account. In a case like this, if I abused an aspect of the service, I'd expect action taken. That's how my lawyerly mind works.

I do agree that there should be a system for these cases. After all, a lot of money goes into these accounts.
The same happens with the 360. Don't do the wrong thing and you've gotten nothing to worry about.
Except for that time that they had to reverse a bunch of suspensions for people who did nothing wrong. I'm sure there are a few legitimate users who fall through the cracks and never get their bans reversed.

I don't like that feeling.
I'm enjoying the irony of the people who were howling about EA banning accounts and taking away people's games for forum trolling cheering coal miners being banned and their games being taken away by Steam. EA hatred/Steam love is so strong. Imagine if Origin was running this botch of a promotion. There'd be riots in the streets. But since it's Steam, we're being dutiful herd animals plugging away at time-wasting achievements in the hopes we'll get a larger food pellet. Bah.

EDIT: The linking FaceSpace thing popped today, so I've got another something, but my Inventory can't load. Gee, Steam, servers buried in tracking all that coal?

EDIT 2: Now it's working and I got another shiny lump of coal. Yay!

Yes exactly. This whole thing is making me think console gaming is the way to go

Nothing for me today as well. Not even a new achevement either, since the 'free' one is to link a Facebook account. Don't have one of those, not going to get one for this either.
New Games that will be on sale are

Xotic
Lord of the Rings
Quake Games
Dungeon Siege

Two Tribes
Wasteland Angel
Men of War
Binding of Isaac (BUY IT)
Left For Dead Games
Thank you from the person currently on their phone :)
and I just got DOTA 2 - Hardware Survey for today's achievement pile. I already have it and the other two I already gave away. Who wants to trade? I don't care, just give me a cheaply gift.

If you're somewhat patient you can off it for $20 or so worth of games at steamtrades.com or the steampowered forums. If you really don't care though, I'd be glad to gift you something cheap so I can play it. :)
Probably nothing for me again. Though Edge says not available in your region? In the US? Very strange.
It's not available in the UK.

Where is it available?

p.s. You're all missing the point about that account with 406 Steam items, all that stuff and not a single copy of Farming Simulator 2011? Pfft, amateur
I apologize to whoever ends up with me on their l4d2 team.
You can do it by yourself by using the console to start a match against an AI team. You'll get auto-kicked after a few minutes, but you should be able to get the objective done by that time.
Is the Binding of Issac worth it?
I'm debating the same thing. For $1.24 (or $1.49 w/soundtrack) it's probably worth it but it looked a little creepy when I watched the trailer on the Humble Bundle page... Plus, after getting the achievement I'm not sure how much I'll actually play it :p

To be honest, I don't find the game attractive at all, even at that price.
Man, AC2 has awful controller support. I had to put my DS3 into PS2 POV mode to get all the buttons to work. AC1 had a similar problem where you couldn't get the L2/R2 to work right in 360 mode, I think it's because my emulator turns it into a wireless 360 and the game only recognizes a wired 360 pad properly. When trying it as 360 it also got all the buttons wrong and when I changed to PS2 the analog sticks moved the camera in the wrong directions. Oh well, got it working eventually.

Whoever asked about Brotherhood, it's excellent.
Yes, it does. I have a HORI EX 2 pad and I had to download a file from the Steam forums to make AC2 work with the right mapping - it was intended for a wireless pad and mine is wired, but it worked fantastically and I had zero issues with the game after that.

i agree with this, if you actually created multiple accounts to try and game the system, and didn't think something like this could happen then your dense. I kinda hope they take it a step further and ban people who use SAM to gain achievements to games they don't own/ don't feel like earning the achievement. They even said something about turning it over to local authorities, if they legally can, they should. I also agree that there should be some system to make an appeal if there was a mistake made, and an innocent account is banned.
How easy is it to unlink my FaceBook account with Steam? I want the achievement but I don't want my Steam activity on FaceBook.
There's an option in your profile page. Takes 2 seconds.
How easy is it to unlink my FaceBook account with Steam? I want the achievement but I don't want my Steam activity on FaceBook.
If I'm not mistaken it doesn't upload activity.

Lol turn it over to local authorities? That's some funny stuff right there.
Is the Binding of Issac worth it?
No.

It's awful. It's like the legend of zelda if the game hated itself and was on drugs.

Time to drink the Binding of Isaac Kool-Aid and see if it lives up to the hype. Guess I'll grab Xotic while I'm at it.

Any impressions of Wasteland Angel? I love Renegade Ops, but do I need a lesser version too?
Is the Binding of Issac worth it?
Yes its worth it.Its an amazing fun game. But its a bit difficult and random.

The Binding of Isaac is a very good game. I was like many of you, though tit looks weird and kinda crappy. But after trying to get the achievement I really really enjoyed the game and have spent a good few hours playing it. Note though if you are wanting it solely for the achievement. The achievement is hard to get because satans room is a low spawn rate and than Krampus who you have to kill that appears is in there is at an even lower spawn rate. I've played for like 6 hours and haven't gotten it yet.
Lol turn it over to local authorities? That's some funny stuff right there.
it was at the end of the screenshot earlier, so they must have the option somewhere to do this.
