Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

KoA seemed alright when i tried the demo. Mostly like a deeper Fable with a touch of bethesda/bioware which is fine by me but it just didn't grab me. I know there is a lot of hype behind the story but it seemed rather generic in the demo. Between SWOTR and Skyrim, I am waiting for a price drop on it myself.

Ah, didn't know that was the case. Time to put my $1.01 in now~

I went back and looked at the Amalur PS3 demo again. PC version looks sooo much better. It doesn't look that great for a PC game but it's definitely a leap up from the console version. I was sitting a little closer than usual to the TV, but still.

Can't find the quote, but I read that the demo was based on a build that was a few months old so it was lacking a lot of the polish that's been put in since that point.

I was unaware of this as well and I have bought pretty much every bundle so far because I usually pay over the average so I do not really notice.

Thanks for the heads up!
The daily deal is Flotilla. Anybody have any experience with this one?
There's a Demo you might try. I tried the Demo months ago. I found the game to be wonderfully strategic but dreadfully dull. Never bought it, and $2.49 does not entice me.
The daily deal is Flotilla. Anybody have any experience with this one?
I liked the humor, got a little annoyed at the battlesafter a while, do try the demo.

I just played the demo and I would have bought it except the gamepad can only be used in multiplayer and only for player 2. There is no option to switch player 1/single player to the gamepad, and to me at least in the demo, the game pad felt far more natural than their keyboard setup. And as far as I can tell, the dev never plans to update it to let p1 use the gamepad either, as people have asked for it since at least last summer. so I won't be getting it.

Don't be fooled by the controller support - it only works for a Player 2. There is no way to play with a controller during Single player. Even with something like Xpadder, Flotilla thinks a second person is trying to play, and it splits the screen.

Shame. I would have picked it up, but the whole "click and hold right click to move the camera" kills it for me. I hate keyboard and mouse controls.

EDIT - looks like the CAG above me was thinking the same thing. Also, there is no way to speed up the battle scenes, and I can see that getting daunting.
Serious Sam 2 now available on Steam!!!
Added to wishlist as soon as I saw it in the Steam store new release column.

I have one -50% coupon for Psychonauts; first PM to me can have it. The individual games are also listed as on sale for the daily deal, so the coupon should bring it down to about $2.50.

Almost want to try it now that it's F2P, I may consider it after I chug through Amalur, Darkness II, RE: Revalations and Mass Effect 3 *and that's not even considering my Last Story import).

God damn the next two months .

You might want to sign up for STO right now. In the next 4 days they'll be giving away 2 ships one being the Enterprise-F and a few other goodies to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. Once the anniversary is over the ships won't be free any more.

Just noticed that I have a 50% off Costume Quest (NOT PUZZLE QUEST, I'M A MORON) coupon in my inventory. I've already got PQ so it's of no use to me, so PM me if you want it. I'd appreciate a coupon in return but won't lose sleep over it.

Edit: traded away.
Not a bad sale on the Warhammer stuff, particularly Space Marine, which I really want, but still too rich for my blood.
Too rich for mine too. I will however be grabbing dawn of war 2 retribution. I've got a 50% off coupon for that one

So do I, but I am not interested in it. I'll try trading it for any interesting coupon/cheap game.

How many times a year they put the Warhammer games on sale? Damn, I have money to burn and once again, it's something I already have.
So do I, but I am not interested in it. I'll try trading it for any interesting coupon/cheap game.
Alternatively you could buy it. Store it in inventory and trade it for something you want.

I love all the Warhammer 40k games.

But Space Marine is just pure fun. The entire time I played it I had a big grin on my face. Every person I know that has played it said the same thing as well. Just a very fun game and well worth its price (it was a day one buy for me and I felt it was worth every penny)
Alternatively you could buy it. Store it in inventory and trade it for something you want.
That's a good idea. Problem is I don't want to spend 5 dollars now and then try to trade it later. Might be useful next sale though...

Has anybody played the daily deal, Victoria II?

I like my turn-based strategies but it looks pretty deep. My experience with these kind of things is limited to Civilization (all editions).
That's a good idea. Problem is I don't want to spend 5 dollars now and then try to trade it later. Might be useful next sale though...
This one could work in your benefit for a trace. Over on the official steam forms people seemed to just go by the price of the game when trading. Not the sale prices. Which was a pain because I had call of duty 4 which I don't think ever went below 7.50 and that was a long long time ago. So all the offers I got were for 19.99 games that went on sale regularly.
Too rich for mine too. I will however be grabbing dawn of war 2 retribution. I've got a 50% off coupon for that one
I will trade you Space Marine for your cat tent good sir. ;)

On another note it looks like we just Mortal Kombat Kollection added to steam for $9.99 -15% = $8.49. Maybe just maybe if it does well we will get the new one for pc. Please?

Thanks for the tip! I'll get it and try to trade in a week or two.

Lol everyone loves the cat tent. It's even cooler in person. It's an exact replica of a 300 dollar field and stream tent. It even had a rain fly to attach but the cat didnt care for it. They have them at sporting good stores but they aren't for sale. They're the display models they make for the tents to show in stores.

To keep this on track I really want mk komplete. Will wait for a sale though
Space Marine will be $12.49 starting at Midnight EST tonight and running until Midnight PST tomorrow (3am EST). Fantastic game, especially at that price.

They also mentioned they are having this run until Midnight PST so West Coast people have a full day for the deal so good on them.
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned already. It is Steam activatable.

Anyone have a 50% Duke Nukem Forever Coupon?

Wanted to get it before the sale ends in 4 hours, but somehow $5 is still too much for me XD haha.

If anyone is interested in the DoW1 games, they're much cheaper in the UK and EU. For example, DoW Platinum (cotains DoW gold and Dark Crusade) is 10 USD here, 13 seperate, but is 5.50 USD in the UK and 4.50 USD in EU, if you have any friends in the region.

Same.

I've got a coupon for 50% off Retribution if anyone wants it (I'd trade it, but the things I'm interested in are worth a bit more than the coupon).
