We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

What's up with the OP listing DNF for $9.99 when it's $19.99 on the site? Also, if it's already $20 normally and $10 on sale, it's gotta be going lower for the holidays. I've waited since 1998 for this, so I'm cool to wait a couple more months.

The first post is a wiki post and wasn't updated when the game went off sale. I expect it to hit $5 during the winter sale or the summer 2012 sale.

The OP hasn't been updated, the DNF sale was last week.

Interesting, I already have Arkham City from the Nvidia promotion but it still looks like it would let me purchase this for myself.

Yes already redeemed and in my library, I just can't download it yet. It probably has a slightly different qualification than the steam version. Usually steam doesn't allow things like that. I just found it interesting.
 
Tried some of the Deus Ex DLC. It's basically an 5-7 hour (supposedly) mission for Deus Ex. It's fun as hell, but then again it feels like a Deus Ex mission. Nothing really new about it, but it's just as good as base game. Also launches separately from Deus Ex THR.

Is it worth $15? That's up to you decide. I am getting my $15 worth out of it (because I love Deus Ex), but like any Steam game, unless you really need it now, wait for a sale.

if anyone hasnt already played Batman Arkham Asylum, I highly recommend it. I bought it last year when it was on sale for $7.50 and enjoyed every second of it. I would replay it right away if they added steam achievements. Microsoft Live achievements dont cut it for me.

Hmm... wonder if the retail version is activatable on Steam. If not, I may cancel my preorder from Best Buy and move it over to Steam since it doesn't appear I'll be getting the preorder bonus anymore thanks to the delay.

Ah well, think I'll call Best Buy tomorrow to see if I'm still getting the preorder bonus. If not, maybe I'll switch over to Steam since it'd be roughly the same price (since I have AA on there). My email last week has still gone unanswered. Great CS, that.

If it's on Steam, hopefully the DLC will be as well (since Fallout 3's was despite that being GFW Live), which means a much better chance at a sale in the future since GFW's sales tend to be crappy.

hey I'm new to steam and I wanted to buy the Batman Arkham game that happens to be on sale.

i won't be paid until a few days from now, so i was wondering if anyone knew what day the sale is going to be gone.
i'd hate to miss it

Its not a deal per say but Sword of the Stars ][ lords of winter is up for pre-order now. It also comes with a bonus DLC pack for alternate skins for some of the in game races. Loved the first game, gonna have to pick this one up too.

You might enjoy it if you don't go in with high expectations. It's a game that falls far short of being the next FF Tactics, but I found decent. However, I beat the game in 12.5 hours, got every achievement, and found there to be zero replayability.

There's also a German demo available with the option to change to English. I played the first 5 mins and lost interest. Might look at it again if it hits $2.50 or so, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger for $5.
 
I'm intriguied by the soon-to-be-released Grotesque Tactics: Of Dungeons and Donuts. I'm curious if there will be some bundle deal when that game is released, or rather if there will be a Christmas bundle of the two.
 
I have Grotesque Tactics from a previous sale but have yet to play it. It simply wasn't going to get priority over Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4, both of which I picked up this year.

I had no idea there was a sequel in the works.

GT's devs are totally gonna be pissed at you. I was ready to pull the trigger until I read this comment, now the wheels are turning since I probably won't have a chance to play anytime soon. I also saw on Steam price tracker that this was $2.99 sometime around the holidays last year and that was when it was still priced at $19.99.

Alice @ $15? Holy crap, definitely in for that! I've been wanting this one since it finally came out on Steam. The only downside is that we don't get the "updated" version of American McGee's Alice. (Sure I could just edit the INI files on my existing copy, but it'd be nice to simply have one that works out of the installation)

Heh, yeah, I recall that game being pretty cheap in the past. There were some indie games that dipped really low during the Summer sale, but I passed at the time as I had already loaded up on games. Grotesque Tactics is one of those games I may get during the winter sale, if the price is low and tasty.

Controller support = Yep. Its a great game and I had a lot of fun with it. Made with the 360 controller in mind. Worth this price IMO.

Yeah. Same.

The thing is that you don't even get the original Alice when buying Madness Returns through Origin anymore. Apparently it was very much a one-off thing just to boost pre-orders. :C
