We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

Almost every game on the site is showing 50% off list price, and the checkout system is offline. Obviously something is broken.

Edit: "Almost every" is an exaggeration, but many new top level titles are discounted.
 
Burf. Did a double take and nearly spewed Ramen soup all over my screen when I saw Serious Sam 3 for $20 "msrp". Kinda sad that they disabled the checkout system, but sure can't blame them.
 
Huh. I appear to be completely unable to log into the site now. Just keeps saying incorrect login, even though I'm entering my username / password / captcha just fine. Anyone else encountering this? o_O

It's a little early to say that Diablo III will be the better game or not. Regardless, if Torchlight 2 follows the budget price of its predecessor then it will certainly find its own niche for those that don't want to spend $60 on a game.

I give Torchlight 2 a lot of extra votes for having LAN and not forcing me to be online to play it. I did find it interesting, though, that while the news post happily talked about all the games out right now, it neglected to mention it's pretty sizable competition.

Not sure if you can do multiple times. Possibly if you used a different email and credit card. My trial isn't up until this weekend, so I guess I got my timing just right.
 
The King Arthur Collection is one of those titles on Steam where the client doesn't show that you already own the game in the store, but it shows up in the library.

Well, I assume you could just do that. You usually can, at least. My trial ran out 11/10; I noticed the free trial is now only for 7 days, so I'm waiting for something better. Already won King Arthur, anyway.

I own most of them except for Super Meat Boy, Aquaria, and Bit Trip Runner. So I am going to hold off for a cheaper Super Meat Boy. I can do better than $7.50 for Super Meat Boy.

Yeah, I would've much rather snagged a copy of Orcs Must Die.

Just Cause 2 is $5 on Gamersgate and Amazon right now. It's steamplay. Also steamgamesales.com removed their price history. Is this the lowest we've been able to get this for? Anyone think it could go cheaper for the holiday sales?

I don't think it will get any lower, but just buy it for $5. There is like 100 hours of gameplay here if you want to 100% the damn game. Amazing game BTW and my favorite game of 2010. You will get $5 worth of it easily.
 
That was weird. All the prices in the pack just adjusted. They were showing cheaper for a bit, that you could get the games at a lower price. Super Meat Boy was showing $3.49...

Oh. I see. The website is still showing the wrong prices for things. Steam client is correct.

No problem. I bought the game at launch and easily got $50 worth out of it. $5 is a steal for this game because it's so big. Even if it did drop $1 or $2 you still get an incredible game for $5.
 
Yeah i bought JC2 for $5 last time when it was on sale through D2D or Gamersgate. Well worth it. Besides Batman AC, prolly my favorite open world game.

Wish the Magicka DLC was on sale again or JC2 DLC. Would probably grab a few of them.
