Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
A large reason that I'm finally trying to be a proper KBM PC gamer (with games that don't support a controller natively) is that I'm annoyed with missing deals on games that I think I would like, just because the game doesn't support a controller.

For example, I wish I'd gotten Zeno Clash the other day. But because it's KBM, I was afraid to try it. I think the game looks really cool and that I might enjoy it, but because I'm not comfortable with KBM, I avoided it.
Zeno Clash was pretty good, BTW.
You could get a 3rd party program like XPadder and use that to force a controller to work w/ your game, as long as the game doesn't use something like GameGuard to BLOCK the program.
After a long conversation with my husband yesterday about controls in PC gaming, I'm giving this PC gaming thing a try. You know. Playing a game that controls with the KBM. Started Vampire The Masquerade this morning. And you know what? Shit's cool. :D
Enjoy it - I love VTM:Bloodlines. It's my most installed/reinstalled games of all time.

That won't ever happen again, I don't think - now that I'm on a PC w/ TONS of Hard drive space and so much expansion room, so I doubt I'll be moving and unmoving things off the HDD...
Yeah, I got 2 hard drives, both 1 TB each.

I play VTM:Bloodlines normally at the very least around every Halloween.

To be honest, some games just work better with KBM. Personally, I have a hard time playing third person shooters with controllers. I'd rather play Plants vs Zombies on the PC for that reason as well.

I really hope today's deals arent a recap.

Also, this is off-topic, but does anyone know of a way to exchange amazon gift cards for paypal?
I was saving them up to buy the HAF932 on amazon, but newegg has it for 35$ cheaper.

Sell them to a CAG. Try the trading forum.

Same here.
I'd like to Skyrim and Bastion on the Daily Deal.

Baby steps just try a little at a time and then for certain games you'll wonder how you lived with out KBM controls. :)

By the way Zeno Clash was pretty cool and controlled well with KBM.

I've never done that before myself and major kudos on the HAF 932 I have one myself and it's an excellent case TONS of space!!! The tool less trays for optical and hard drives make things so simple. I have a total of 8 blues LED fans in mine (though two of them need replaced since they are not spinning all the time anymore). Keeps things extremely cool and it even has a a setup for water cooling if you're into that sorta thing. One warning though that case is heavy as a hell! Definitely not one you want to move around constantly.

Currently, have K&L 2, Limbo, and TC SS Chaos Theory in my cart. I think I will pull the trigger. Tossed in my inventory just in case I decide to trade them away.

Got 16 mins left on those deals [from yesterday], until the new set of deals for today is coming up.
16 mins...and counting...

Well steam is gonna get some $ from me shortly. Got some non daily deal stuff to pick up. I blame utopianmachine for adding to my wishlist with all the great recommendations. Whether she knew she was recommending games or not :)

I really would like Shogun 2 but will probably wait until the Xmas sale. I'm probably getting Fairy Solitare, Dungeons of Dreadmore, and a few more
Anyone seen Fable 3 cheaper anywhere else? I just dont want to bite for $25....
Not recently, no.
It was $13 a few months back on G4WL to buy-to-download.
Anyone seen Fable 3 cheaper anywhere else? I just dont want to bite for $25....
Fable 3 is a pretty big disappointment for me. I had it on Xbox 360 and I beat it within 8 hours. I didn't see anypoint of playing it afterwards. It's a shame since I really liked Fable 1 and 2.

I never thought I'd see Dead Space 2 that cheap this calendar year. I bought in February for around $11 (haven't played it yet) and thought that was a good price.
Armageddon for me.
Why the hell would you buy it on Steam when it's only $7.49 on Impulse and activates on Steam anyways. Not to mention that Steam hasn't even reflected the base-line price drop of $30 yet.

I've heard Divinity II is great, I'm probably going to pick that up at least today. I'm torn on other things, I've already spent enough on games I know I won't play before the Christmas sale.

I wouldn't buy Fable III for anywhere near that price!!! I too beat it on the 360 and what a let down. I liked Fable II and this was more of the same but somehow slightly worse. Under $10 or bust for this on any platform.
Nice price for Divinity 2. Well worth it for $10. Probably nothing for me today on the daily deals.
Yep, it's well worth the $10.
Was well the $16 or so, back when Amazon had Div 2: DKS Edition on sale.

Tempted by dead space 2 and maybe some dlc for magic. Other than that I might pick up one non daily deal game and thats it for me. Modern warfare 2's price is still a joke though.
Thoughts on Section 8: Prejudice? It seemed like a pretty cool game, but do people still play it? And are the map packs worth it?
It's not bad, there aren't many people playing but you can still play with bots, plus the campaign. If you get a four pack, each copy comes with all the DLC and it's still cheaper than buying a single copy.

Grabbing Dead Space 2 for sure today, maybe Demolition Inc and Divinity II, but I have a hard time justifying that last one after playing so much Skyrim lately.
Was really hoping for Red Faction for $2-4.
Here you go. http://store.steampowered.com/app/20530/

Thank you so much for that heads up! Didn't know it was that cheap on Impulse.

So below is what I'm considering. 75% I usually bite but there have been exceptions. Really thinking of picking up the below games. But my backlog is so huge I might just wait to the winter sale. What to do!

TW Shogun 2 DLC (Only 50% off and I haven't even touched the main game)
Modern Warfare 2 (don't laugh!! want to play it but will wait for maybe $10)
Dungeon Defenders ( Will try to get in the 4-Pack)
Bunch of Heroes (looks fun)
Sol Survivor (I like tower defense heard it was pretty good)

And any thought on Fortrix 2? Looks interesting

Can someone clarify what the Magic 2012 dlc is?

I believe someone said that most of it is stuff you unlock anyway or just foil version of the cards. So would the only dlc worth getting be the expansion?

Well, it's the last day so it's time to post your final haul:

- Fallout New Vegas + 6 DLCs
- Orcs Must Die + 2 DLCs
- Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
- Trials 2 Second Edition
- Delve Deeper + DLC
- Faerie Solitaire
- Capsized
- Runespell Overture
- Breath of Death/Cthulhu double pack
- Shatter

Price: $39 for 10 games and 9 DLCs.

I own Dead Space 1&2 on PS3 but $5 is tempting. I would be concerned by the SolidShield DRM in DS2 but I have Need for Speed with that and never noticed a problem. It's revokeable on NFS. Not interested in anything else for today.

Nothing for me during this Autumn Sale. Was looking at getting Limbo but wanted to try the demo first. Never got around to it yesterday, so I missed it at $2.50. Oh well, I'm sure it'll go on sale for the Holiday Sale.

I meant Red Faction: G

Also kind of odd that todays the last day of the sale when tommorow is Cyber Monday. I am sure they will do something for CM but still.

You know what would be really cool is if instead of doing a CM sale they started the Christmas sale already. They usually do the Christmas sale for like 2 weeks anyways, so why not start the sale now and do a "30 days of Christmas sale" starting on the 28th and ending a few days after Christmas.

Edit - And yes I know thats a pipe dream ;)

Anyone think they might do a seperate "Cyber mondy" sale tomarrow. Seems like maybe a good chance seeing how the past 2 days have been kinda weak. For me this sale def went out with a wimper...

I asked this a few days ago but I want to get Fallout 3 GOTY and was told it'd be easy to get it for $10 at some point. It's only $15 now and I was wondering if it's worth the risk to wait? I probably don't need to play it for a few months.

Some great deals today.

Dead space 1 + 2 are well worth the cash. I have ds2 on ps3 and I am still tempted to buy it but then I remember they will never release the dlc on pc.

I'd buy divinity two but I already have both dragon ages, both witcheries and sky rim to play through.

I was all set to buy dungeon defenders on the last day but now I'm unsure. It looks like they added a ton of paid dlc and the community seems completely split as some of the dlc adds classes that have advantages over the free ones.

id like a break to play what i just bought. A sale with achievements or rewards for playing games would be awesome though.
