We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.

It's the beta basically. It's called that to stand out from just the regular DOTA 2 inventory item. One of them contains the bonus 2 inivtes to send to friends, one does not. Not sure which is which

I was confident that I would win Portal2 from an achievement or by crafting coal. 15 pieces of coal in a row later and horror stories of crafting coal for Kane & Lynch coupons I'm feeling like an idiot for passing on the sale.

It's a stress test for the trading system. Although I can't imagine what other time of year there would be such a huge volume of trading.

I'm not a big fan of the coupons, being an instant-gratification kinda guy, but I am extremely curious to see how the coupons shake out. I can see a few instances where they turn out awesome stacking with another discount, but that depends entirely on if your applicable game goes on sale in the 2-month window, and on "C
oupons are valid on discounted items unless specified otherwise"​
 (from the FAQ). I think I'm gonna end up in a hurry to dump my coal by next week, and then my coupons by the end of Feb.

I got "Space Empires V" from the 10 items achievement. My steam account hasn't been activated long enough to trade it and it looks like a game i would hate, so the first person stating they want it as a gift may have it.

I just wanted to say thank you. This sale has been particularly bad with that stuff. I had said something a few times but I didn't want to continually be "that guy."

On another note I'm really surprised more europeans haven't been interested in Football Manager. I haven't heard a single comment.

Truth be told, most of the types who play FM will have bought it on the day it was released :lol: I've got friends who play that, and nothing else. It's not un-common to see a few hundred hours' playtime for each release.

As for the current version, it's pretty damn good. The last version I played was 2009 (I've been playing on and off since I was 13, which is a long time ago) and it's been tinkered with slightly but is still THE game to play if you like football*. They seem to have made an effort to provide a little help for the more casual player in this version, coaches/assistants will recommend free-kick takers/captains etc. if you can't be bothered to trawl through your entire squadlist. They handle training too, which I was never a fan of.

It's good, it's always good. Playing it will depend on how much you're in the mood for football, as it's midway through the season across here I'm very much in the right mood :)

As an American, I've been trying to get into football for a while now. It's hard, since it's not easy to catch football games on TV and it doesn't get much exposure anywhere else. I've been meaning to get FIFA 12 but apparently there's been a big issue with accounts being compromised through FIFA 12 on the Xbox 360.

Hmm, I have DOTA 2 as well. Unfortunately, I won it on my secondary account, so it says "Not Tradable". I moved it over to my main account, but it still say Not Tradable. Is there any way around this? Since it apparently has such a high trade value, I'd like to be able to flip it for around $20-25 worth of games from my wishlist.
 
Did the CrimeCraft achievement for coal. Took longer to get the game to work right (had to verify cache) than to get the achievement. Got into a match with some people who really, really sucked, and for me to say this it means something, I suck at multiplayer matches.
 
I've been killing stuff all morning in Killing Floor but the damn achievement won't unlock for me! I'm pretty sure I've killed three times the required amount of bad guys... damn steam fix your stuff.

I also crafted 7 coal into 50% off Nordic Games coupon. Every single Nordic game is 50% off now. FML.

The Steam Community was unstable today, maybe you got the achievement and it didn't register. I did it at CrimeCraft, it showed on the game page but Steam didn't register because it went offline. I restarted the game, then left it and it appeared.

In europe the game is sold in stores and better prices tend to be than what Steam offers, sadly over here you are limited to Amazon, Steam or importing.

Another thing might be that Amazon were selling this last week for only $20 :D

I already own Nuclear Dawn, but I bought it off Amazon in order to get a gift copy of the game and the $5 credit. However, when I put the key in Steam, it just took it without giving me a gift copy (as if I didn't already own the game). I opened up tickets to Steam and Amazon for the issue.

I should have just sent the code to a friend, but I thought it would be easier to go ahead and get it in my Steam inventory.

So, if by any chance, someone else was going to do the same, maybe this will help you avoid an issue. :)

Well I restarted the game, played some more, quit. Still nothing. The achievement is also not registering on the game page. I've had enough of that stupid game now.

Yeah, i guess people hadn't noticed this in the Amazon thread. If you are going to gift the stuff you buy from Amazon, just send the Steam code you got from Amazon to your friend. Steam won't give you a extra copy to gift to others.

One thing to note with Killing Floor is that if the game can't communicate with the Internet for any reason it won't update anything (achievements, stats, level progression, etc). You can still play the game as normal but none of your stats update. I had this problem myself because I use a software firewall on my computer that was blocking outbound access for a port. You can check to see if you have this problem by checking to see if your Perk stats increase between waves (i.e. get headshots as a Sharpshooter and see if your number of them goes up at the Trader between waves). If they don't then communication is being blocked.

Also, the achievement can be done on any map. I did it on Mountain Pass.

I suppose that's the problem then. I never got to connect to any MP games so I figured I'd just play solo. My router/modem sucks because portforwarding doesn't work.

*edit* checked my firewall. That was the problem indeed. I fixed it now and I've got the achievement :) of course another coal but many thanks!

That's a bummer, man. You can do the achievement in Solo, but the game still has to be able to communicate to the Internet. I'm assuming you've tried using sites like www.portforward.com to get port forwarding to work on your router?

Easy way to get the achievement is to start your own listen server and play ice cave by yourself on the easiest difficulty.
 
It's quite odd - I haven't bought a single item this entire sale. I did, however, buy Dungeon Defenders from Amazon for $1.99. In addition, I got Capsized as a gift for the Defense Grid achievement, and traded it for Hydrophobia: Prophecy. (I'm quite excited about that, by the way.)

Even so, I'm excited that the next crossover is less than 2 hours away.

Ditto, that was the first wave with enough invisis.


Edit: anyone else having problem with checkout? It's failing to load half the time for me and when I do get through it it gives me generic errors. I haven't had the problem of erroring out for too many transactions before and afraid that it might be that.

That Atom Zombie Smasher achievement is not worth it IMO. Didn't like the game at all but also got it for free. Gave up after the 3rd wave. No point in doing achievements unless they are actually fun to do like most of the ones I've done so far.

Trying to grab a couple things before the deals switch and it's timing out :(
 
I reckon a lot of these achievements aren't worth the trouble, considering the gamble itself. Then again, I have a very skewed viewpoint concerning the Achievement system in general. I think Achievements are fun when they're awarded through normal gameplay and doing certain "above and beyond" things. When they're designed to cause frustration, amplifying any of the game's weaker aspects in execution and design, Achievements take away all the fun of the game itself. (The best example is inFAMOUS. For example, players must slide on the train rails for the equivalent of several hours to get a Trophy. Even going for 100%, the average player won't accrue half that amount of time on the rails. So, Sucker Punch, how is that Achievement fun?)

Ok, ok. I digress.

Having that been said, the Defense Grid achievement was fun. Many of the others are busywork or too frustrating.
