Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Pretty clever of them to time the daily deal to the announcement of Sanctum 2. Like the first game, I'll be waiting until its in a bundle/super cheap Steam sale before picking it up. Sanctum is ok as is, but not terribly thrilling, to me at least.

I've played a few hours of Star Trek Online over the last few days. One of my RL friends has been trying it and seems to be really into it, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

As free-to-plays go, it might be the best one currently available on Steam (not counting TF2). There's not much in the way of competition, but it's pretty solid. It's a little bewildering at times though, as most MMOs can be to a new player; it took me a while to figure out how to navigate around from one quest to another.

The setting is pretty cool, mind. I'm not a huge ST fan but I enjoyed watching the series as a kid and I've always liked the movies. I guess they're catering to the Trekkie fanbase more than anything (probably a smart move)

There's definitely better games out there, but MMOs have never solely been about gameplay. The experience as a whole seems pretty well rounded and immersive. I'm just worried how the content will pan out over time if I continue playing. Other MMOs have a "pay per chapter" style of content, I'm not sure I'd really buy into that.

Worth a try if you're curious and have nothing better on your plate at the moment.

Sanctum is totally worth picking up if you haven't yet. I know the sequel's been announced and all, but if you like tower defence games, Sanctum is up with Orcs Must Die! at the top of the class. The bunches of play modes they added late last year really add a lot of fun to it. Though I don't understand how some people play the game without some of those tower DLCs. The Violator and the Killing Floor are just too useful!

I didn't "get" sanctum. On paper it sounded great but in practice I found the towers, guns, and enemies generic. I found the fps perspective took away from the game because things looked so similar in some of the later levels I'd just get lost. It's one of those games that does a lot right but it's missing a soul.

I tried out Star Trek Online as well for the event etc. I didn't get very far (few hours in) and maybe it's because I'm not much of an mmo played (playing swtor but before that the last one I played was Asheron's Call) but I didn't like it at all. There isn't much voice acting and when there is its incredibly cheesy, the ground combat felt hallow, space combat felt slow and repetitive, and the interface was confusing. It felt a bit better in first person mode but it jut didn't feel like I was hitting anything when I shot it besides their health bar going down. I decided I'd go back to SWTOR at least until I run through my dirt character. I may go back in the future but I think skipping and going to lotro is probably a better option.

Just saw this on the GOG forums:

"Got this from the Steam forums:

http://store.thq.com/store/thq/es_ES/list/categoryID.58414000/

Homefront, Red Faction Armageddon, and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine are 9,95€ on the Spanish THQ Store. All of them are Steamworks titles so you only need a key to activate them.

Also if you use the coupon "Eurogamer50" on checkout you get 50% off on top of that bringing Space Marine to 4,97€."

Apparently it's country restricted.

So if I buy it, it won't activate on my US account?

Seeing this reminds me of the increasing frequency with which I see Steamworks games on sale, or games on Steam itself on sale, and feel my excitement crushed by the realization of "Shit, you mean I already own it?"

Also, STO is a fun little F2P title. Janky and convoluted, confusing as hell in a number of ways. But I'm enjoying myself regardless.
So if I buy it, it won't activate on my US account?
I did not buy it, but from what i've read the problem is not with the key but with the address.

It's on the SteamGifts forums, too. People have been posting that it works for them, some using their own address and others changing their country to Espana. I just purchased Space Marine. For $6.55, it'd be foolish not to give it a shot, at least.
I did not buy it, but from what i've read the problem is not with the key but with the address.
I got it through PayPal. Placed the order but have no idea where to get the key
Thanks for the heads up, ordered through Paypal. Still waiting for the confirmation with keys.
These guys are getting hammered on this deal. It might take an hour or more to get the keys.

Just had my payment refunded by thq.
Holy cow. Does that 33% off Skyrim stack with that holiday coupon that also gave 33% off?
If it doesn't then it would be the first coupon not to stack.
Holy cow. Does that 33% off Skyrim stack with that holiday coupon that also gave 33% off?
Sure does. I've got a 25% off Bethesda coupon if the price is right for anyone looking to trade

Skyrim also got a new high res texture pack today as free DLC.

Today's deal is 4 Elements at 75% off ($2.49)

Midweek Madness is, of course, Skyrim at 33% off.

The entire Bethesda Collection is also 50% off. That's $10 each for Morrowind or Oblivion GOTY editions or $50 for all three games. The Deluxe edition of Oblivion GOTY is $12.49.
Just had my payment refunded by thq.
I think I managed to get mine. Got a confirmation e-mail. Told me to go through a link where I inputted my order number and password, and was brought to a page with what looked like keys to both my games. I did pick Spain as my country.

I picked Spain as my country too. I tried it again. Used the us embassy address

I almost want to bite on Skyrim, but kind of annoyed that Greenmangaming had it 50% off recently, so 33% doesn't seem that great by comparison. Also, since it's Steamworks potentially any other store could put it on sale and I can still register it on Steam.

I do have some Amazon points so maybe I'll see if they'll price match...

Scratch that, apparently the only sell boxed.

Oh well, maybe if I keep waiting the CE will finally go down at some point.

I just got my key for Space Marine. It's in the e-mail.

And I have a 50% off Bethesda coupon. Doesn't work on the bundle, but it makes Skyrim $19.99. Too bad I already own the game... *hint hint* ;)

My first order for Space Marine finally went through. I say first because I was worried it would be cancelled so went ahead and placed another one using a Spanish address. If that one goes through I'm going to check with friends and if none of them are interested will let it go to a CAG at cost.

I wanted the Elder Scrolls Collection until I noticed Oblivion isn't the Deluxe Edition. Both it and Morrowind have been cheaper, at least give me the complete package for $50

I'd like to get a Bethesda 50% if someone isn't using theirs. Have games/keys to trade including The Ship, Shadowgrounds Survivor, Metro 2033, Humble Bundle 3, EYE, others.

Ha! I knew it! Time to finally use my 33% skyrim coupon :D :D

Let's see... Skyrim for 22,44 ? YES PLEASE

Everyone will be begging for coupons now. lol :D

Heh, funny how people just forget about saving anytime they see a Skyrim sale. Since I'm close to the sales department in my job, I can tell you're giving Bethesda a very spoiled attitude and they will take advantage from this, for sure. Good thing they are smart themselves and released a very simple development tool (most of it is thanks to steamworks itself, because it IS that awesome), so people can forget about the money spending, profit! :)

But aside from the objective analysis, I find it amusing because don't enjoy RPGs at all, I'm the kind of guy that loves DmC, Darksiders and Sonic games.
Heh, funny how people just forget about saving anytime they see a Skyrim sale.
Not me, sir. I restrained myself during the winter sale in the hope of getting a better offer after it with my coupon. And I did. So I saved down to the maximum price I was willing to pay for the game. Bethesda can gladly have my 22,44 euro's. WIN!

I have a modest little 10% off Bethesda coupon if anyone wants it - nothing wanted in return.
Gone!

This sums up my experience, too. I've played 3 or 4 missions in the last couple evenings. this is my first MMO I've played for more than 10 minutes (Tried City of Heroes and DOO and hated both). I am rather enjoying it. It's got a ton of solo content. The missions are very "walk here, click "F". now walk here, click "F" again." But the space combat is excellent, and the visuals are very, very good for an MMO.

Saint's Row The Third for 14.99€ ($19.85) with promo code is very tempting specially that it comes with Professor Genki's Hyper Ordinary Pre-Order Pack and Season Pass that includes the Nyte Blayde DLC pack and three mission packs

Unfortunately I am broke now
biggrin.gif

If anybody can get it for me, I would trade it for Crysis 2, Dirt 3 and DNF (yes all 3 games :D) PM me if interested

After hellgate London I won't touch anything bill roper had his grubby fat fingers in

I still have to play Saint's Row 2 and I stopped playing GTA IV around the first 33%, but loved Just Cause 2. Which of these is most similar to SR3?

I traded Hard Reset and Shattered Horizon for a 50% off Bethesda coupon last month. Both games I got in the holiday Gift Pile thing. I have been waiting for such a sale to happen before using it, knowing that something like the Skyrim Steam Workshop program would be a big enough deal for a sale.

Payed $20 for what is widely regarded as 2011 game of the year, on the best platform for it to boot.

I should check the trading forums to see how much those coupons are going for now!
