Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Which retail CD Keys are accepted on Steam?

Wow, that long? Thanks for the heads up though. I was thinking it was because I had the page google translated and I chose "Spain" in the country dropdown instead of "ESpana."

Well, I bought Saint's Row the Third (with everything) from the THQ site successfully, but I made a big mistake. I forgot to click off (or remove) that extra charge that they add for absolutely no reason, so I ended up paying a lot more for it (19.39 EUR, so around ~$25.70) but in total I was charged $27.45, which I assume was tax.

Sad Panda :(

What type of address did you use? Reason I ask is my first order was cancelled by THQ. I stupidly used my street address and zip code...didnt pick a state....and chose spain as my country. An hour later..cancellation email.

So I tried again...this time i used the address of the US Embassy in Madrid...along with their phone #. Went through perfectly.

Hmm, I used the US Embassy in Madrid as well after reading your post (no province selected though), but for some reason I thought it was a good idea to use my actual US phone number. :whistle2:/ In retrospect, not the brightest idea. If I get a cancellation email though I'll try again using the embassy's phone.

Enough with the trades. Take it to another thread and another forum. It's not a deal for anyone but you and maybe the person you trade with.

While I understand that topics do meander into off topic areas regularly and believe that is fine and even healthy, we do not need to see multiple posts of 'I have a coupon for trade pm me' in a row. Have some consideration and respect.

I don't really get the trade police trolls. In this or the amazon thread. Honestly, people don't check the trade forums often and with deals that are limited in time (Skyrim) people are just trying to put their coupon out to those interested in the deal while the deal is still on. Both people benefit and the conversation is related to the specific deal.

"Police Trolls" isn't the term. There are specific forums for trading things on Steam, this is the deal thread, not to be used for trading, it's courtesy.

Police trolls sounds like the proper term to me and if I recall you happen to be one of the most active ones.

It's "courtesy" to you. Some other people might enjoy the "courtesy" of seeing people who have coupons they want post in this thread instead of having to search and scroll through the trade forums or the steam trade thread and try to figure out who has a coupon.

And I don't care either, as if everyone who had a trade posted here too it'd still be scrolling through pages after pages, and that would hide the actual steam deals.

So what about people just giving coupons to others for the current deal of the day? Are you going to hate on that also? Because I've done it here before for the reason of it it having to deal with the current deal of the day or weekend deal and I'm not expecting anything in return. I put them up here because I want to give them to people who plan on buying the deal and figured they will check this thread to find out what the deal is and then see someone with a free coupon and jump on it to lower the price further.

I understand there is a difference between giving something away and trading, but trying to trade a Skyrim coupon because it is the current midweek madness and trying to trade Rochard because you don't want Rochard are two fairly different things (and I mean trying to trade Rochard right now). That Skyrim coupon has to deal with the current deal going on which is what this thread is about. Why can't we add that in? Say L4D goes on sale and someone voices out that they bought a pack in case anyone was interested in this thread. Is there a thread for that? Yes, does everyone know about that? No, does everyone check it? No, will someone be happy that by random chance they got into a four pack instead of paying a higher price themselves? I would say yes.

I wouldn't want this thread to become spammed with trading, but if it has to do with a current sale (unless it is a store wide sale) then I am ok with it. Because if I go to the trade thread to get rid of my coupon, then I feel like there is a better chance that person will try to retrade it to turn a profit. Here I feel like someone will actually use it to buy the game. And if you allow coupon giveaways then I don't see a problem with coupon trading.

Either way, I just sold my coupon for $10. True, it voids the current sale and makes the game $30, the price it normally would be with the coupon. But now I can get Oblivion or another game for next to nothing... :D

By the way, when's the new thread coming?

You'd be correct. The problem is you're posting trading deals in the wrong thread. There is a thread for trades. If this thread was made to be both, we'd see MUCH more clutter, and people would have to actively search for the posts that they're looking for. Two threads were made for that reason, so people could easily access the information they were looking for. For those looking for coupons, they should direct themselves to the Steam TRADE Thread, and not be so lazy as to clutter this thread with their careless posts in the Steam DEAL Thread.

You're pretty ignorant if you think I'm trolling when I tell people where things are supposed to go. Don't take your frustration out on me because the mods aren't as active as they'd like to be, I'm just trying to help the threads to be a little neater. Post where it's appropriate, not in threads that are meant for something else.

Trade talk in this thread only serves to benefit those who are trading. If you can't be bothered to go to the correct forum you are lazy. If you don't care that your posts which don't benefit anyone else are hastily getting rid of worthwhile content you are selfish. Let's post in the correct forum and keep this thread beautiful.

Im going to agree with the above. There is a trade thread, and it usually doesnt move as fast and I would have people post and look there. When I come to this thread I look for the deal and peoples opinion on it so I may educate myself before buying.

Posting my opinion on a public forum the same as anyone else certainly doesn't make me "ignorant." You must be projecting your own insecurities if you think I have any frustrations to take out. I posted my opinion on how I feel about the few (less than 10) posts about Skyrim coupons. I think space is wasted on a lot less important things in this thread (don't we have a PC Gamer forum to actually discuss games? Under your logic shouldn't we delete every post asking "how is this game" and make people post a new thread in that forum?)

What about the countless "how do I do this or that on steam, etc." It's selective enforcement and complaining (trolling) by you and others about what is "deal related" and "belongs" in this thread. Technically the new deals and deals of the day should be getting posted in the OP (and edited in the title) for easy access.

It's not the "Posting my opinion on a public forum the same as anyone else" that makes you ignorant, it's the opinion itself. You're not worth the time, kid. People need to post things where it's appropriate. This is the thread to post questions about Steam, and deals that are related to Steam.

Trading is to be done in the specified thread in the OP, that's what it's for. No need to spend your day reading into what does and doesn't belong here. Post the trades in the trade thread, that's about it.

Trolling is personal; I don't care enough about this or you to make it personal. It's a general unwritten rule, and if you don't give a damn about who you piss off by you and whoever follows your lead posting trades in this thread, more power to you. No need to be a smartass when things don't go your way. More useless clutter in the thread... Sorry everyone.

I'll take one of each. Great deal, OP!
Please stop.

Back on topic, I just got my Dota 2 invite today, and they seem to send them in rounds. Maybe some of you also have one in your (spam) email inbox.

Edit:

This is a joke by the way...

For anyone who hasn't seen it (the forum index isn't the most friendly place to quickly find stuff!) the Steam Trading Thread is here. :) With it being 33% off already, good luck to people hoping to get an extra 66% off Skyrim so that they'll only need to pay the remaining 1%!

Left out a couple key details, mate.

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean-favoured and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good Morning!" and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine -- we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked and waited for the light,
And went without the meat and cursed the bread,
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet in his head.
Says the guy selling Indie Bundle stuff in the trade thread. OH I WENT THERE. ;)
Lol... Bought the Indie Gala Bundle when I was less than sober and I had every game in it except Critical Mass, it isn't a "Pay what you want" bundle. Shoot me. =P
The coupons take their %-age off of the sale price, not the base price. A 66% off coupon would be calculated off of $39.99, not the original $59.99. Just pointing that out so no one gets confused.

Got my Space Marine key from THQ Spain a few hours after the transaction. Key worked without a hitch. I'm pretty happy with the price I paid for it.

4 Elements is quite an interesting little puzzler mash-up. Production values are very good.

The main game is a standard match-up in which you connect gems, allowing a "power" to flow forward, scrolling the screen to the next portion of the level. In between I've seen hidden picture and spot-the-difference types of puzzles so far.

My only question would be one of replay once the campaign is complete, but for $2.49 it's certainly an entertaining way to spend several hours.
So the THQ deal is off now? And where is this 20 dollar Saints Row 3?

Why do I always miss these deals by a day? Sigh.
I think the coupon died. It wasn't working when I tried it again last night.
Just saying this right now, I haven't enjoyed a game as much as I have Shank 2 in a long, LONG time.
How is it compared to the first game?
So, this exists: http://groupees.com/bemine

I know nothing about it beyond that.
I have been trying to load that site for days now and all of a sudden I can finally see it. I have a feeling once that deal becomes active I will never see the website...

I hope the controls are better than the first game. I'm playing it right now, and boss fights are frustrating with the imprecise controls. And yes, I'm playing with a controller.

Despite that post looking like spam/phishing... so yet another indie bundle:

I think I saw The Ball in there, which means I will definitely be picking it up.

2 - Sideways New York
3 - Xotic
4 - BEEP
5 - The Ball

-- 3 of the 5 games will have a direct download PLUS Steam keys, 2 will only have Steam keys. Of the 3 with direct download, 2 will be PC only and 1 will be PC and MAC. Official promo video will be released 04:00 GMT 14 February 2012
If this is true, I am totally buying it for Sideways alone!

Probably would have bought it anyways, but... Sideways! woo!!
Yep, that alone would be worth it.

Deal of the day is "Dino D-Day" at 66% off. Gotta love it when crap goes on sale...
