Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I doubt most of you care, but there's a price mistake on GamersGate on the new DLC for Magicka that got released today (Grimnir's Laboratory). It's 75% off, worth picking up with blue coins, if you've got any.
I'm awfully tempted to pick up the Fallout GotY editions, but I have a feeling they'll be cheaper during the winter sale. Hard to hold off, though.
I picked it up for $5 last Summer Sale. Be patient!

Count me in if you plan that as well.

I'm half tempted to pick up the Nancy Drew games on sale, as well as the Midnight Mysteries Collection. The only thing I'm worried about is that the bundle will be cheap in December, and I'll end up buying the games over again.

How much was the Nancy Drew bundle during the summer/winter sale?

Worth 250BC for the Doctor Who parody, although it'll probably be a while before I reload Magicka.

Just grabbed it for 210 coins (21 cents with IGN discount) but the site is being super slow right now. Someone must have told Slick Deals.

The Nancy Drew bundle during steam's summer sale wasn't a great deal. It worked out to $3 something a game. Amazon (Tony) ran a Nancy Drew bundle maybe 6 weeks ago, 15 games for $12 iirc. They didn't activate on steam, but it was a really good price. You might ask in that thread for a re-run sometime soon.

It was probably wishful thinking, but I was hoping that Zombie Driver HD would get the 50% off for the sale and then an additional 50% off for owning the original game. Guess not :\

I care. Thanks for the heads up!

Thinking about picking up DR2 and Dead Island, any advice on how well they play on PC? I don't have a controller, just standard M&K.
I find it funny how the only game I want out of that is Cryostatis, and that I'm not even willing to drop a dollar down to get it . . .
tell ya what, pm me and ill hook ya up when I get home.
How much was the Nancy Drew bundle during the summer/winter sale?
It was $40.

I personally got the $12 pack from Amazon a couple of months ago, which included 15 ND games which includes these ones on sale. I'm hoping Amazon would do another sale with the other games soon.

And yes, these are pretty good adventure games. Don't let the Nancy Drew title throw you off.

Has Dead Space ever been cheaper than $5? I won't play it anytime soon, but $5 is typically my buying point for backlog stuff.
Has Dead Space ever been cheaper than $5? I won't play it anytime soon, but $5 is typically my buying point for backlog stuff.
It drops to $5 very often, but other than some insane future pack that may show up on Amazon (which wouldn't activate on Steam), this is the cheapest DS1 goes.
Has Dead Space ever been cheaper than $5? I won't play it anytime soon, but $5 is typically my buying point for backlog stuff.
$5 is about as cheap as any stand alone AAA title gets in price. A bundle may be cheaper. Dead Space has been free before but it has always been ymmv.
Has Dead Space ever been cheaper than $5? I won't play it anytime soon, but $5 is typically my buying point for backlog stuff.
Extremely doubtful you'll ever find a steam copy of Dead Space for under $5.

Non-Steam you can sometimes find it for $4, depending on coupons and things from competing sites.
$5 is about as cheap as any stand alone AAA title gets in price. A bundle may be cheaper. Dead Space has been free before but it has always been ymmv.
Yea, I got Dead Space 2 for free from Amazon for buying some other games, but can't recall seeing DS1 cheaper than $5.

Not really a Steam deal, but Fear Complete (including both DLCs for Fear and Reborn for Fear 2) is $7.50 at GamersGate, or $6.38 with IGN discount.

Only Fear 3 can be activated on Steam, but hey GG is a good store to support anyway.
Thinking about picking up DR2 and Dead Island, any advice on how well they play on PC? I don't have a controller, just standard M&K.
I have DR OTR and that is no fun playing w/o a controller. That and the controller doesn't even work in game. I've read there is a fix for it but I haven't gotten it to work and stopped trying after about an hour of looking for fixes. That was during the summer sale when the games got down to 9.99. I enjoy the game but a controller is nessecary IMO to complete it. I'd look at the forums to see if the controller works for DR2. 7.49 I think is the lowest price these games have gotten down to, so I reccomend buying now if you want the game.

Although it's been cheaper elsewhere (free from GMG a few months back) Steam has FINALLY added Beyond Divinity to their catalog. Looks like they also upgraded those of us with Divinity II to the developers cut which was also just released.

Thanks! I put my Blue Coins to good use and got 13 in return for the purchase.
Trying to decide if getting Costume Quest now is a good idea or not...
i would wait....it will be cheaper and has been....if you dont own any of the other double fine games I would buy the bundle when it goes on sale and save even more

Gamersgate keeps adding Steam games to their sale:

Dungeon Defenders 4 Pack - $11.24
Magicka 4 Pack - $7.50
Bunch of Heroes 4 Pack - $7.50

All before %15 IGN discount if you have it.
Trying to decide if getting Costume Quest now is a good idea or not...
Unless you really want to play it right now, I'd wait. If the deluxe edition is on sale on PSN for $3.75 then you can bet something around that at the very least at some point, especially a game that is on multiple outlets and is featured in bundles.
No Ghostbusters. Sigh.
Gamersgate has two GB games on sale for 66% off each. Don't know if you have an account or use them for non steam games.
Thinking about picking up DR2 and Dead Island, any advice on how well they play on PC? I don't have a controller, just standard M&K.
Dead Island was great on the PC, IMHO - I used KB/mouse for that one. If you wanted a game that plays like Borderlands (first-person ARPG), but instead w/ melee focused combat; killing mostly zombies; and upgrading of your weapons...
...the Dead Island is your ticket. Enjoy your trip in Hanoi.

For Dead Rising 2 (original), I just stuck w/ X360 Controller. I did like Dead Rising 2 and the port was a decent one, even though it does require G4WL
I absolutely prefer Dead Island by a MILE over Dead Rising 2.
Did I miss something? I couldve sworn I saw Call of Cthulu in the Halloween sale this morning.
When I saw it it was marked 0% off.

Did it ever have any real discount?

Had a good time with orcs must die 1... debating if i should pick up now or wait for winter sale and hopefully 75% off...

also any thoughts on which Dungeon Defenders DLC i should pick up? I just have the base game... havent played it though...
When I saw it it was marked 0% off.

I saw it marked off at 0% too and then a few minutes later that went away and it's been sitting at it's normal price since. Would have bought it too.

Anythoughts on the Overlord series and The Club? Was thinking of picking up both based on price.

I also think I'm definitely going to bite on Alice this time. I think the game world looks great. I'm a sucker for games with vibrant worlds. I'll be picking up Breath of Death and Cthulu Saves the World because $1 is a price I don't really pass up for any games.

Damn, Dead Space 1 and 2 for $4.99 each? If I didn't already own both on console I'd buy the fuck outta those.

Really wish there was a demo for Dead Rising 2 as I don't want to buy it and run into issues...
When I saw it it was marked 0% off.

Did it ever have any real discount?
Unfortunately no. I think it might've been a mixup with Cthulhu Saves the World.
Anythoughts on the Overlord series...
You can probably get away with base Overlord for $1.50. The expansion doesn't really add anything great nor does the sequel introduce any new or compelling gameplay mechanics. And I personally think the engine is worse. If you find yourself enthralled with it those games go on sale for 75% or more every major sale (so, you can pick them up in Nov/Dec). Of course you'd end up paying more by not getting the bundle but... again... that's only in the rare instance you find yourself wanting more past the first game.
Is there any more Orcs Must Die 2 DLC coming or is the complete pack really the complete pack.
That's anyone's guess but, imo, if you've waited this long just wait until the Holiday sale and see if it dips to 75% off.

Any of the Painkiller games any good? Haven't really heard of them before and would probably look over them, but their really cheap on Steam as well as on GamersGate.
