Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

nope. got my dustforce key with the url. hope you can resolve your issue. probabaly add a couple more cents to your payment?

Hey guys, I bought 10 gift bundles and am willing to trade each one for games like Skyrim or Bungee Jump Simulator. These are DRM free bundles. Obvs the trade would have to include more if you want a Steam key.

Awesome! i was thinking of waiting a bit more earlier since it fluctuates by the minute or so. haha! me being impatient got the best of me this time. solid bundle for newcomers like myself. hope they add more BTA games in the next days or so.

Got my Dustforce issue worked out. rep said I had somehow matched the average, even though it was consistently a few cents lower than my payment when I was looking. But he was nice enough to upgrade me regardless, so yay for that!

Now just have to schedule these games into my play schedule. I'm thinking around 2024 I'll be able to get to them.

nice to here it got resolved. wow! good thing you got a hold of a rep so quickly considering they probably are busy the last hour or so because of the launch.

Since I already have most of the games in HIB6, I was only going to go in at the dollar level and wait for Dustforce to be on sale later... but HIB gives the soundtrack with Dustforce (and only when you beat the average, despite what their mention of the OST's on the main page suggests). Getting the game together with its OST seems worth the extra $4.33. I've listened to the tracks on the composer's website and am glad to add it to my music collection.

Yeah, was just playing it a little. The music is great!

Although you guys joke, Magicka is actually a really good game. I think it's more than worth it at the current price and you should all give it a go.

I'd even be up for playing some co-op too.

New Humble Bundle is nice though, I already owned Rochard and Shatter but still a good deal. Here's hoping they add some nice bonuses later.

Magicka is a good game, but the amount of DLC they come out with is overkill. They should focus on improving their netcode rather than releasing so much new DLC.

Nobody said magicka wasn't good. I dont care for it personally It's just on sale evey other week. That's the joke of it all. If you don't own magicka at this point odds are you're new.

Now Available on Mac - Shatter, 25% off!

Nice timely announcement!! Steam is selling it at $7.49 (25% off $9.99)

Might aswell buy HIB6 and put down a dollar if you want it! Hehe!

Just got my bundle for $6.00. Only had Torchlight so it wasn't a big waste. Always wanted to play Vessel but never have seen it cheap.

Now waiting for a good sale on The Walking Dead on Steam (can't buy it from Amazon) and I'm all set for a little while longer :applause:

Don't click

Haha, I already own all the games except for SPAZ and Dustforce. Not sure I want to BTA for Dustforce yet. - the gameplay style looks similar to Super Meat Boy which I also have. Kinda looks fun though. Suppose I will put down some money for SPAZ, at least, since I've been mildly interested in it for a while despite it not being in the usual "genre" of games I like to play.

Like I said earlier, Rochard was a pretty fun platforming game. Shatter is a great breakout/arkanoid style game (apparently with decent music too, but I wouldn't know). I have Torchlight but I've only played maybe half a hour of it. People generally say it's great, though... I'm just not into these Diablo-style games too much. I recently acquired Vessel in the summer sale and haven't had a chance to play it.

I just can't stop buying these humble bundles. They're usually so chock-full of awesome.

Somehwat annoying. Tony Hawk HD is £9 in my region but $9 in the US (£5.53) so just to note, UK CAG's may want to ask their US friends to buy for them.

Have everything but dustforce and vessel. Not sure this bundles worth it for me. Maybe if they add more to it later on that I don't have.

Why oh why Steam keeps putting Magicka on sale. The game is great, but I would think everyone have it by now

Also, everyone check my last post in here (same page). Or...
Hm, that's longer than I thought. I'm only about 4 hours in. I had hoped I was at the halfway point, but I guess not.

I like the story, but I find the puzzles a bit difficult and the whole system more archaic than I like.

Still, I always feel like I'm supposed to play those games that are considered classics, so I'll probably go back to it.
The story and some of the areas are really beautiful, so I'd recommend playing through. However, some of the puzzles could be clearer, and it's sometimes easy to not know where you need to go. Don't be afraid to use a walkthrough to get you through the parts you get stuck on. I peeked every once in a while to get through them, but I definitely enjoyed the story.

Same with me, I decided to get it anyway and just give all the money to charity. Hopefully the extra game(s) that hey add will end up being something good that I don't have. Still a very good bundle with quality games.

Oh man, there's nothing quite like a new iteration of the Humble Indie Bundle. I just grabbed one for myself and my old college pal.

I'm feeling pretty good right about now.

Yeah, it's the only bundle series that I actually follow. I can only imagine how amazing it is for people who don't always already own half or more of the games.

By the way, I think it was Sunghost that warned everyone not to grab Rochard when it was a Daily Deal. Mr. Host, your guess that it'd show up in the Humble Indie Bundle was correct.

You are the CAG of the day, in my book.

Thanks for input. It's a story I would like to see the end of.

One of the reasons I didn't keep playing it is because every time I tried to alt-tab out of the game and do something else, a black box would take up nearly all the screen. I couldn't do anything with it, and I couldn't make it go away as long as I had the game running.

I'm usually doing a few different things when I play PC games, and I found it annoying not being able to use my computer for other things simultaneously.

Anyone have advice?

Yeah, I got the email from Facekick. It's still appalling how they PROMOTE their bundle with the fact that they won't give you any Steam or Desura keys with the games.

I'm glad I'm still not tempted to give them any of my money, even just a dollar.

Thanks guys, I'm glad I could help. Sucks that I didn't realize Shatter would likely be included in it, I think it also went on sale shortly after Humble Bundle 6 got added to the registry. Probably best to hold off on buying indie games whenever a new Humble Bundle gets added to the registry lol.

For what it's worth, Severose bought it today and told me the download links were broken LOL
You mean like how GOG promotes their service? That just is appalling.......
Sure, let's compare apples and oranges.

IFK. Promotes itself obnoxiously and tries to be the only limited-time indie bundle anyone would ever need in what has become a crowded market. Offers a fraction of the versatility of the other players in its market and has prices start at a premium.

GoG. Offers games no other online market carries, 24/7. Has frequent sales and free game promotions. Includes soundtracks and manuals and other extras with all of its offerings and a library view of all the games you own through them. Has yet to put out press releases that insult potential customers.

If they were at all similar, I'd admit that you've got me there, but the fact is that IFK is offering the bare minimum when it comes to value and trying to pass it off as an asset. When you add a game to your GoG library, you get significant extras and zero attitude.

Why is that appalling? There are tons of people who hate DRM.

I think you're missing the point, GOG is proud that their games are DRM free, which is the marketing strategy you were just complaining about.

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Indie Face Kick. Almost.

I wonder if the guys at Humble Bundle sit around and laugh at the attempts of other bundles. Indie Royale is probably the most successful of the competitors, but even they only average about 13,000 sales per bundle.

For the 8 people who spent $8+ on the indie Face Kick bundle before the sale....well, they got what was "advertised" :D

I wonder if the guys at Humble Bundle sit around and laugh at the attempts of other bundles. Indie Royale is probably the most successful of the competitors, but even they only average about 13,000 sales per bundle.
I definitely think its due to professionalism, brand awareness (ie. how early they got into the bundle craze), and value (quality/quantity of games, music, and etc)

1) Humble Bundle
2) Indie Royale (Part of the Desura Service and seems to be the most professional besides Humble guys)
3) Indie Gala (Don't really understand why buying digital games in bulk would be cheaper but whatever, they're awesome for including King's Bounty in a bundle)
4) Groupee (Games are not as good as the other services but they seem sincere)
5 - 99) (list future indie bundle service here)
100) Face Kick (buyers get digitally kicked in the face)
Why is that appalling? There are tons of people who hate DRM.
What annoys some of us is that the IFK guys act like they're purposely excluding Desura keys due to DRM, when Desura in fact has no DRM. There's truly no downside to using Desura, and it's probably more reliable than IFK's download page considering from what I heard earlier today, their download links are broken (not sure if they're fixed yet).
I think you're missing the point, GOG is proud that their games are DRM free, which is the marketing strategy you were just complaining about.
You think that I am missing the point of the statement I made myself?

I guess I can try to clarify further, for what it's worth. IFK isn't competing with GoG. IFK is competing with the likes of Indie Royale and Humble Bundle which offer DRM free AS WELL AS Steam and Desura keys, where applicable. That's why it's appalling. They're claiming that only offering one means of playing a game you're purchasing is somehow superior. And before this fire sale, worth paying a higher price at that.

GoG also offers DRM free games, but the vast majority of their fare doesn't exist on Desura or Steam, so that's entirely irrelevant. The majority of the games they offer, the appeal is that there's even a way to buy and play them presently at all.

I don't use Desura, so excuse the following, but I'm not sure I understand. If you need a specific key to download a game from Desura, and I'm assuming the key gets tied to an account(or is that incorrect?), then that sounds like DRM.

Was going to give a long-winded response on how you miss the point of the Desura service, but I just don't care.

But by your logic, my Gamersgate account is DRM because my games are tied to my account. OMG DRM!

ALSO my humble bundle account = DRM

Indie Gala account = DRM

Indie Royale account = DRM!

My GoG account = They lied...DRM!

So much drm......

Yes, the keys are for specific games that get tied to an account.. but I'm failing to understand how that would make it DRM. I used keys to activate Witcher and Witcher 2 on my GOG account.. would that make them not DRM-free? I'm lost.

No, you're missing the point of the statement that you responded to, obviously.

Of course having both options is better than having one option, but if you only have one option (and there are people who prefer both sides) then you're going to market it to the people who like that option. They never said "humblebundle.com requires you to activate games on steam, we don't!" they simply told the truth which is "we don't require you to activate games on steam" and naturally worded it in a way that implies steam is unwanted.

That's completely debatable; You're incorrect if you think that 100% of GOG customers are only buying games from there because they aren't available elsewhere.
