Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

TL2 will be an autobuy for me if they ever implement 360 controller support. I work on a computer from 7:30-5 6 days a week I can't come home and click a mouse a million times for fun.
"Whoo that was awesome!" hahahah, I felt that way when I first equipped the hand cannon, knocking back enemies and just blowing shit up was sooooooo satisfying.
Funny that I'm using the hand cannon too. I feel totally ridiculous and awesome. Enemies stunned from the blast. Sweeeet.
It's an actual upgrade.

Every year, the Railworks team gives out the base game for free to owners of the previous version.
Railworks 3 was actually called Train Simulator 2012, so you could say that this is Railworks 4.

New features in the 2013 version include Xbox 360 Controller Support, Multiplayer, Leaderboards, and Steam Workshop Integration, to name the biggest features.

Note that buying the game on Steam for $29.99 is actually a bundle which includes Train Simulator 2013, Isle of Wight Add-On, London to Brighton Add-On, Northeast Corridor Add-On, and Sherman Hill Add-On. Owners of last year's version only get the 2013 upgrade for free, not the DLC. However, buying the bundle is way cheaper than buying the DLC separately.

Thanks for the background on that!

That musta worked! It's outta stock now.
What's happening in Torchlight II? No idea.
Clicky clicky dead thing! Cannon boom! loot loot loot!
I'm satisfied, nevertheless. :D
Played a little bit of the demo. Sold! ...I'd inject it if I could. The TL2 demo reminded me more of Diablo 2 than TL1... I think it was the way treasure and coins would explode all over the ground and the mass coin pickup.
I bit on the $16 deal steam key deal from Gamefly -- made a new gamefly account just to use 1GFT82012 again.
I want to get this so much, but with Borderlands 2 I just won't have time to play it. Hopefully there is a deal on it by the time I completely burn myself out on Borderlands 2.
Flip side! I'm hoping for a nice Borderlands sale by the time I finish click-click-clickety-click.
I'm finding that Borderlands 2 makes an even better singleplayer experience than Borderlands. Either one can be annoying (YMMV) if you are playing with people that want to do nothing more than charge through every level hitting buttons and racing for red chests. I like to play it more slowly and really get into the level and story and the two styles don't mesh well unless you have like-minded friends.
That's how I like to play too =) Zerg Zerg doesn't do it for me. I'm curious, are you experiencing any issues with over-leveling? (This was a problem in BL1 if you actually did the side quests.)
And as an added bonus, TL2 doesn't have an item system that was designed around profiting from a real-money-auction house.
This! My personal feelings are that too much game design was sacrificed/bent around driving the all mighty RMAH.

Man, been playing the hell out of Borderlands 2 since I have nothing else to do recovering from surgery. According to Steam I put 44 hours into it so far, but I'd say 3 hours were just afk as I would eat lunch or take a 10 min break here and there. I'm not sure how close to the end I am but I think I am close, probably a few more hours and I'll have it beat. I've done every side mission and explorer and loot everything :D

Fun game, playing as the Siren again, though Maya isn't as good as Lilith, she is still cool. I really hope Gearbox puts the original characters out as DLC, I'd be Lilith ASAP, she is/was by far my fav class, I didn't like any of the original classes besides her actually. I plan to try Zero out after beating BL2 though.

Anyways, great game, if you liked Borderlands 1, you'll love too. More of the same, with just more of everything and lots of nods of mentions of stuff from the first one. While the first one didn't really have much of a story, all of its characters had their own thing and such if you found the echo devices and did the side quests, in BL2 they make reference to a lot of that stuff which just puts a smile on my face while playing :D

I don't play any game whatsoever with keyboard/mouse, but Torchlight wouldn't make much sense with a controller, even I play that game with a mouse. I mean if they turned into some kind of twin stick shooter controls that could be great, but the game isn't really set up that way. I think that'd be the only good way to controler-ize it.

My policy on BL2 co-op is mostly single player for sidequests, and co-oping more linear events like the story missions or the slaughter domes. The story missions are pretty long and linear, and pretty awesome with 4 players, with less chances for people to rush ahead of you and trigger 6 different sidquests or get lost exploring too much. I'll likely be playing my alts as straight co-op.
I, I don't even...
Maybe they play lots of racing and sports games on the PC and have never touched an MMO.

Or you know Dark Souls.... I've never seen a game just destroy kb/m set ups quite like it. I mean the faster you move the mouse the slower the screen rotates and vice versa. And for some reason they used the END key to go to the menu. I understand nearly no developer besides those of visual novels in japan make PC games, but really? The END button?!?!?

Yeah, Dark Souls controls with kb/m are atrocious, it made me break down and buy a 360 controller. I agree, some games/genres are better for a controller though.

I'm gonna have a really hard time figuring out what to use with a controller and what to use with a mouse. I love FPSs with an Xbox controller, yet they also work pretty damn good with kb/m. A lot of FPS games just don't feel right with a controller either... What is everyone using for BL2?

I've got a nice Razer 360 controller and a rather crappy mouse though, so it looks like it's time to start looking for a gaming mouse. Any suggestions? (I guess I'll probably get another Razer.)

Doesn't bother me much. I don't have to buy a console, and I just have an XBox 360 controller for windows games that play better with a controller.

Torchlight makes complete sense on KBM, and the buttons for everything feel right on. I for inventory, C for character stats, S for skills, P for pet stuff. It's completely perfect and is no way daunting.

So yeah, don't let the KBM requirement keep you from such an awesome game.

You should all be locked in a room with only bread, water, and a mouse and keyboard for no less than a month until you come to accept the glorious PC centric controls and cast off your console ways.

Seriously, though, I'm too old to figure out how to comfortably manipulate modern controllers. Twin stick? The hell? In my day we used our left thumb for the D-pad and our right thumb for pushing A and B and we loved it.

Seriously seriously, though using a controller for an isometric hack-n-slash ARPG or an FPS should be a flogging offense.

We THOUGHT we loved it, until they thought about things like comfort/ergonomics. I don't get nostalgic over those hand torture devices.

It ends up being a little of both of these situations in my experience. I decided since we started on launch nite and the prevailing attitude was push ahead, I'll do one character like that, and another taking it slow and probably going for the 100% achievements at the same time.

The flexibility and replayability are neat.

I've played 23 hours so far, done every side quest I've seen, and have only seen one quest marked "Trivial". I used to see lots of them in the first game.

To be fair though, Lilith was by far the most powerful character in the game. Gearbox essentially took her skills and divided them up among the four new characters.

G5 here as well
What is everyone using for BL2?
There is only one correct answer for this, especially since it is an FPS.

As for a gaming mouse, I use the Steelseries Sensei. I've used a few Razer mice over the year and while they are comfortable and great at first, they all broke. Been using this Sensei for awhile now and it is a solid mouse. It doesn't have tons of frills but it has what is needed and it does it job extremely well.

looks like an old model of the g500 (wich is what i have, and ilove it. great mouse if you have the cash) http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G500...1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348410726&sr=8-1&keywords=g500
Don't need the cash, as stated above, Logitech refurb sales are cheap, and fairly regular. I think I got my g5 Battlefield 2142 edition for $30 or so a year ago, it was practically new . The G500 are probably going for that now.

(I guess I'll probably get another Razer.)
>.> A real "cure" would be pressure sensitive WASD keys to allow for analog movement on KB&M. As for mouse, Logitech G400 ($30 on Amazon atm), it is the current sucessor to the venerable MX510 & MX518 mice. The MX510, MX518, all share the same shell and layout that works amazing well for lots of people. I will note that it is a lightweight -- personal preference, RSI. I would add that I played 140 steam hours (I'm sure a lot of that is afk) of Borderlands GOTY with a controller in my left hand and mouse in my right. This lets you milk the disdain and adoration of both the controller and KBM fanatics ^_~

Play Devil May Cry 4 with KB&M and report back to us =p
You said it, Atari 2600 one-button joystick all the way! ...no too impure... paddles! Two directions is for chumps! And sitting down... real (arcade) gamers play standing! ^_~

Seriously though I really appreciate modern controllers. The NES controller was a step back from the FamiCom controller -- too hard of edges and no microphone. Remember the raw thumb you would get from that (NES) stiff hard edged D-pad? The thing that time-to-time trips me up is the neat pressure sensitive buttons on Dualshock 2&3. That's fucking awesome!
I've played 23 hours so far, done every side quest I've seen, and have only seen one quest marked "Trivial". I used to see lots of them in the first game.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know!

I can say that the Xbox 360 controller has been an amazing investment for my PC. The most modern games usually replace the on-screen prompts with 360 controls, and the design is truly ergonomic, making it an excellent choice. Overall, I could replace it every year and still consider the 360 controller an excellent investment. (Luckily, it lasts for much longer. In fact, I've always wanted the Silver edition with the "improved D-Pad," but my current one remains fully functional.)

As for Logitech mouses ("Mice," if you prefer.), I had the M510 (I believe that's the model number. It came with the Wave Keyboard.) and thought it was excellent. However, it had one absolutely fatal flaw - The mouse will always break within 6 months of use. I went through three before I moved on. I spent nearly $100 on the Logitech Performance MX mouse and found the Middle Click didn't always register. (Another fatal flaw for the PC game enthusiast.) Thus, I, begrudgingly, went back to a standard wired mouse. Personally, I think Logitech products are high quality, but I've concluded that they need to put more resources into mouse development.

If you bothered to read my entire post, kudos to you.

Weird. That sucks. My MX510 dates back to March 2004 and has seen a good amount of travel, years of WoW and other gaming as well as general desktop use. It is still my #1 mouse. I've been eyeing picking up a G400 for backup/travel/other 'puter.

I'm curious about this too!

FWIW, I've had no issues with my G9 and really enjoy it. I've also got a G15 keyboard and G35 headset, all picked up from Logitech direct as "dented box" items that were brand new but at a good 50%+ discount from list price.

Gaming mice should be wired anyway. :)

I was gonna ask that as well. I feel like there is some sort of joke there that I'm not in on.

Very fun game. For fans of Puzzle Quest, this is Poker Quest. Yes, it was in an Indie Royale bundle a while back, but it's definitely worth $2.50 if you missed out.

I have used a Logitech G5 for the last three years, great mouse bought it refurbished as well but its starting to die on me, will probably replace it with a G500. I'm going to wait for black friday/holiday season to see if I can a new one for cheap.

I think they're trying to show how the posters avatar/picture matches the content of their post. Doesn't always make much sense lol.

Oh man... you've just piqued my interest! I'm a fan of both Puzzle Quest and poker. Imagine how pleased I was to click on the game and find out I already own it. :)

Yet another cool game I got in a bundle, never played it, forgot I had it, and was considering buying it again.

I know exactly what you mean about the mice failing after x amount of time. I've gone through multiple logitech mice as I haven't found any other company that makes a comfortable, long battery life wireless mouse (yes I use a wireless mouse for gaming) with multiple extra buttons. Also the warranty and coupons for when the warranty has expired keep me coming back. However if anyone has a recommendation for a wireless mouse that has long battery life and side buttons and isn't logitech I'd be interested in hearing.

To elaborate on the wireless, I hold my mouse sideways on the desk or use it across the room. I've broken so many wired mice due to the cables constantly being at a right angle, and the cable draped over everything gets quiet uncomfortable.
How is the single player experience in the Red Orchestra games? MP might nor be big by the time I get to it
I haven't played the second one, but I know the first one has absolutely no single player.
