Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
I find it hilarious that they could port Crysis and Metro 2033, games that were supposed to be PC Killers to consoles yet Torchlight 2 can't be ported .

Then again Torchlight 2 can run on about anything so you don't really need a console port.

Either way I still love Torchlight. Gonna download T2 tonight if I remember. Although with my Borderlands addiction, I probably wont play it. Although it will be good to keep it updated.
Crysis and Metro were downgraded graphically to meet consoles abilities and since they are FPS, it isn't hard to map a control scheme to them. Torchlight 2 on the other hand is a point-and-click third person RPG. The UI and controls were all mapped around keyboard and mouse. They would need to re-design a lot of it to make it work well with a controller. Plus other coding technicalities and QA.

Their decision to not bring it over was probably based on the sales of Torchlight 1 on its console port. The time/cost needed to convert it to a controller natively just isn't worth it to them and I don't blame them.

That's true too. They were talking about Ram requirements so I assumed a lot of it was hardware based. Then again I don't blame Runic's decision because Torchlight 2 has very minimal system requirements, and having to map it to a controller must be painful.

Yeah. The gameplay looks interesting, but for $10 a game needs an artist.

Edit. Oh it works from my quote. Sorry

What is DPI sensitivity?
Any idea if the extra buttons can be changed - ie. make one of the side buttons do melee in BL2 =D Yes, it can. It mentions 8 programmable buttons in the descriptions. I assume that's 2 on the side, 3 by middle mouse, middle mouse up, down, and pushed? That's nice.

The G500 is on sale for $40.00
So maybe Wii U?
Not sure if serious, but. . . I can't think of a worse genre to try to translate to motion controls than an RPG--maybe turn-based or real-time strategy, but this would be a tough call.

I don't mind developers porting to console but I'm just glad when they develop the PC version first so as not to delay release time. Famous case of this biting a developer in the butt was Dungeon Defenders. It was ready for PC release but they delayed it nearly a year because they insisted on a simultaneous release and Microsoft has their oh so lovely and draconian certification process.

Long story even longer the game sells ten times the units on PC/Steam and the developers basically abandon support/updates for the console versions. Fortunately a lot of indie developers are waking up to the reality that PC is the way to go in terms of ease of publication, publicity, sales, etc. Even Behemoth gave up their mini-embargo and ported Castle Crashers.

Best part of all is you can run most of these indie games on a system that costs maybe $400 max and they usually cost a third or less of what AAA games cost.

Motion controls isn't the focus of the WiiU.

Motion controls don't have to be used. If Torchlight could work with a controller as it did the 360, it can work on the WiiU. The Gamepad (ie tablet) would make it even more convenient for managing skills/inventory, looking at maps, etc.

Torchlight would work excellent on the Wii-U. Touching the screen to move is essentially just as good as a mouse click (as well as touching an item). Plus you still have 6 buttons on either side (if you count the d-pad as a 4 way button).
Is anyone here even getting a Wii-U? At launch or anytime soon? I'm pretty burned on Nintendo, myself, and I used to be a rabid DS fangirl.
I might at some point, but probably not soon due to massive backlog everywhere in my collection. I got to play it at one of the demos they did across the country, and I liked it.
Is anyone here even getting a Wii-U? At launch or anytime soon? I'm pretty burned on Nintendo, myself, and I used to be a rabid DS fangirl.
I say no... but it'll be too hard to resist being the newest console available..

I will be getting one at launch assuming Gamestop.com doesn't fuck me over. I want one but because I am hoping they continue this lets grab exclusives trend. I mean turn based jrpg's with the Wii-U touchscreen  That and I still have hope Nintendo will make a good game.

Although I wont be using the Wii-U for much, just exclusives and multiplatform games not on PC (or shitty ports). I was playing Halo with the GF (she wanted to co-op it together) on Saturday and not having mouse+keyboard on a fps was making me cringe, lol.
Is anyone here even getting a Wii-U? At launch or anytime soon? I'm pretty burned on Nintendo, myself, and I used to be a rabid DS fangirl.
I've given up interest in Nintendo consoles, but I still love their handhelds. I rarely ever touch my Wii, I'd probably do the same with the Wii-U. I may end up just getting a PS4 for the exclusives, and skipping all the other next gen consoles.
I may end up just getting a PS4 for the exclusives, and skipping all the other next gen consoles.
That's my plan. It's worked for this gen's consoles. I just wish there were more/better ps3 move games.
Is anyone here even getting a Wii-U? At launch or anytime soon? I'm pretty burned on Nintendo, myself, and I used to be a rabid DS fangirl.
I preordered the basic 8GB model because I know it'll be a pain to find later. It's the only next-gen console I want, no future exclusives interest me for the PS3/4 or 360/720 now that I have a gaming PC that I can upgrade.

Going back to mice for a moment. I'm going to order either the g400 or g500. This post mentions that the g500 is very sensitive to hair which would be a deal killer for me and my Khatza. Can anyone confirm this about the g500?

Get the G500. It basically is a G400 with more options (weights to weigh the mouse to your liking and the such).

You can change the DPI if the mouse is too sensitive.
Not sure if serious, but. . . I can't think of a worse genre to try to translate to motion controls than an RPG--maybe turn-based or real-time strategy, but this would be a tough call.
Not sure if serious......but....Wii U is not motion centric. It supposed to be Nintendo's return to mainstream gaming, while still supporting motion control games. Like Xbox and Kinect....

Just noticed the 500 is only $10 more than the 400 I gave a link too. It's basically my G5 with 2 more buttons, which I have already recommended along with most.

And to add, the DPI .can change on the fly with the buttons on it. Awesome for when your playing battlefield 3 and you swap from. Infantry to Jets

That's their simplified explanation. My intention was to simply alert CAGs that waiting for TL2 console port isn't a viable option at the moment. I simply guess that it is not worth it for Runic Games to bother -- especially since Torchlight 1 & 2 will run on just about anyone's computer.
I personally don't feel that I'm ready to Take On Helicopters. Perhaps you feel differently though. If so, you're in luck, it's today's daily deal. $29.99 $10.19
Pfft, that's the casual version. Go to Syria and play "Take on MiGs". Warning: Only hardcore mode is currently available.

Actually the G500 is only related to the venerable G400 (MX518/MX510) in name and shell only. While the G400 is an easy recommendation, the G500 is not.

Sorry, just had to giggle. :booty:

Wii U sounds like fun and everything, but I tend not to get into launch hype. I don't enjoy having to wade through exorbitant amounts of marketing to be let down. The games I end up playing are usually obscure so I can go into them without many expectations. And I just don't have much time to devote to something long with everything I do. Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy 1/2, Gears of War 1/2/3, COD 4, and Halo 1/2/3 are all on my shelves, unplayed, collecting dust. Although I did play Super Mario 3D Land at launch and had fun, that's a handheld anyway.

So yeah, tl;dr version: I'll wait for the price to go down before trying it.

Looks like the only one that hasn't been in a previous Humble Bundle is Wizorb..
Somewhat disappointing. Besides Wizorb, it's basically games from HIB4. Somewhat good news for anyone who didn't BTA on HiB4 though, as GSB was a BTA game in that bundle.

For any longtime HB buyer, Wizorb is the only new item this time around. I'll take it, but kinda was hoping for more.

THANKS! Up to 3 Golden Keys now. I guess for the people who did the exploit that is small time, but I am still happy!

What exploit are you talking about?

I've only been able to put ~2 hours into Borderlands 2 so far :( Damned student teaching eating all my time... loving it though, haha

It was patched out, but the first few days you could go in and change some game files and get like 100s of Golden Keys (whatever the max is).

A ton of people did it and have basically and infinite supply of them. They patched out the exploit but did nothing to the people who used it.
