Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Good looks!

GreenManGaming is doing a Sega weekend with most titles 50% off plus a daily 75% off deal. Today's deal is Binary Domain for $9.98 - 20% from voucher GMG20-27J4Z-8NXHO bringing it to $7.99.

Binary Domain is 75% off until 1100 UTC September 28th
Sonic Generations will be 75% off from 1100 UTC September 28th for 24 hours ($6 after voucher)
Total War: Shogun 2 will be 75% off from 1100 UTC September 29th for 24 hours ($6 after voucher)
Aliens vs Predator will be 75% off from 1100 UTC September 30th for 24 hours ($4 after voucher)

All four of these are Steamworks. A few other titles of note are both parts of Sonic 4 and Sonic CD, all half off and Steamworks. Jet Set Radio was also added recently at $8 after voucher.

Edit: GamersGate also has Homefront Ultimate Edition for $6.24, $5.30 after IGN discount. The Ultimate Edition includes all the DLC, but the DLC is multiplayer only, which I assume is dead by now. The base game has been $5 before, so this isn't the best deal the game has seen.

Dang! I wish they gave a bit more advance notice. At work with no time to download and play any of the three games that make you eligible (certainly not to "hardcore"), especially as I only own LIMBO out of the three on PC. I would have liked a free Psychonauts code. . .

I just ran the desktop app and blew through the game to snag the achievements. Didn't take me much more than an hour and a half tops. Ranked Elite now getting 12/13 achievements.

If you pre-ordered Carmageddon: Reincarnation on Kickstarter, check your email. The Stainless guys just sent out free GoG codes for the just-released-on-GoG Carmageddon Max Pack. (I was following Carmageddon: Reincarnation well before their kickstarter.)

So many pedestrians, so little time.

Thanks for the alert on that. I *finally* picked up Binary Domain. A month back I had decided to pick it up at it's next $10 sale, but due to my schedule I missed Amazon's $10 24 hour sale a few weeks back. I'd jump right into BD if Torchlight 2 didn't already have a hold on me. That GMG code is multiple use according to their blog.

It wouldn't let me since the requirements weren't checked off.

Oh well, I was just going to give the games away so a CAG who missed out could play them, I already have both.
First time using raptr for this, guess that's what I didn't do.
Yeah, that's what I meant. You have to go to the Rewards page that lists all of the rewards and click the button there. Going directly to the Psychonauts/Stacking page and clicking on that button doesn't give you the reward. Raptr is usually buggy like that.

Planets Under Attack is 33% off ($9.99)

Planets under Attack offers a surprising depth of gameplay, while its intuitive controls allow even casual gamers to pick it up and feel comfortable immediately. In addition to the addicting gameplay, Planets under Attack is an obvious labor of love.

You should play them, if you like strategy they're awesome!

I'm a strategy games nub and haven't really played any before, but the Total War games look interesting. I was thinking of trying just one out and starting with Shogun 2 when it gets cheap since it's the newest and has the prettiest graphics, and also because I like samurai and ninjas.

Rome is tempting for just $1, but it looks a bit dated. Is it still worth getting even if I get Shogun?

Impossible! Shogun: Total War and Medieval: Total War are not on steam. Though Shogun is on GG and was on sale in August.

Rome is well regarded among TW fans (often cited a favorite, the alternative favorite is Medieval II). Imo, at $1 snag Rome either way. Shogun 2 is quite demanding of your graphics card, still playable though on my GTX 260, (see various AnandTech reviews) unless you have something all new and shiny.

I meant the ones available on Steam. Which is Rome, Midevil II, etc...

I wouldn't call the game mechanics on Rome dated at all. I would give it a go for $1.

I'm a huge Shogun II fan and I also got this problem. Rome II is coming next year, so they just want to sell as many copies of first game as they only can.
With 90% off and $1 price you can't go wrong.
I'm still considering that deal, but probably I'll pass and save that dollar towards Rome II, which I'll buy for sure, sooner or later. I doubt I will touch any older TW game before Rome II (and even after) since Shogun with all DLCs has all what the rest of games from series can offer.
Shogun 2 is a good game but the steam file is so absurdly huge I refuse to keep it on my HD. Over 20 gigs iirc.
Exactly 29.2GB in my case.

Managed to get Stacking for myself and Psychonauts for a fellow CAG off raptr. It was ridiculous how fast those went.

Also, damn everyone in this thread for pointing out TW Rome at a dollar. I wasn't going to buy any more videogames after buying Saints Row during the last GMG sale, but I can't pass this one up.

They had like two, yes two six gig patches over it's time. That's fucking insane.

I hear Rome TW is one of the best RTS games ever, so I guess I should recommend that for $1. Now really, I should install and play it but were in the wrong thread for that .'

Still waiting to hear back about my Torchlight 2 ticket, hopefully I hear back soon. I want the game I paid $15 for.

That is what large HDDs are for! I hardly ever delete my games so I end up with a TB of installed games.

Half Minute Hero is an excellent game, but I don't think it's worth $8. I had fun for about 4 hours from it (I beat all of the modes, but only Hero 30, Hero 300 and Hero 3 are really any fun). I'd say it's a good buy at $5 :)

Really? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I didn't really think HMH was "indie"... it had a full retail release for PSP years ago and was then available as a digital download for PSN later, I think. It'd be great to snag it in an indie bundle though!

I think it looks more indie than it is.
