Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Did you click the check your reward button? They glitch like that often, but it should give you the key if you click on the button on the Rewards page. I think they only had 200 of each lol
I have LIMBO on hardcore, went on raptr right on time for the code giveaways, clicked the redeem button: "Sorry, You haven't met all of the requirements yet" WTF

Yeah, that happens to everyone. You have to click the button located here:

http://raptr.com/dashboard/rewards

I should've posted that solution before the giveaway started, but I honestly forgot you had to do that lol. It doesn't work if you click the button the the Stacking/Psychonauts page. Has to be pressed on the dashboard/profile page.
Rome for a buck? Hell, I'll probably never play it, but a buck? That's too easy!
You should, even if it is just a quick "skirmish" battle. I mean everyone deserves to see a large legion of angry screaming Germanic women rushing and overtaking a Roman legion
Impossible! Shogun: Total War and Medieval: Total War are not on steam.
M:TW is still my favorite. Thank heavens I still have the DVDs because I haven't seen it on sale digitally anywhere; not even on sites like GOG and it's never in the "complete" Total War bundles.

I went to the dashboard rewards page, that's where I got the message from. Seems a bunch of other people were having this error too - it's all over the raptr forums.
Funny how someone asked a few days ago if they ever had $1 games on steam

That is quite ironic

Most of the people that posted on the forums didn't use that method, I think there may be a couple of others solutions that have been posted over there too. What I did was click on the button on the Stacking page, and then clicked the button my my rewards dashboard page and it worked for me.

I don't know why it hasn't been fixed yet, these bugs have been very common for a while and they haven't been doing anything about it. All I can say is my solution worked for the PS1 code giveaway (which had the exact same bug, but they had 1,000+ codes to give away) along with Psychonauts/Stacking. Sorry it didn't work for you guys
Half minute hero smells of indie royale
It's not on Desura at all. Has Indie Royale ever featured a game that wasn't on Desura? I thought they all were but I can't recall every single game they've had in one of their bundles.

As far as I know they sell all games from bundles, but there have been some that weren't for sale until they were in a bundle.

Sooooo many giveaways for Total War Rome right now that it is almost sad. Then again, maybe I can win a copy for a change lol.
It seems like you might be able to get a free copy of Postal 2 on Steam/Desura if you Greenlight its release. Anyone who helps to promote it should get a free key, which is just awesome:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93000640
"Simple really, if you post about our Greenlight somewhere other than Steam, such as on popular forums you already have an account with* (4-chan, Reddit, PCGAMER, Rock Paper Shotgun, Giant Bomb ect) and post the link here, I'll make sure you are one of the first to get a key for POSTAL 2! Also applies to your personal pages** ( facebook, a blog, youtube ect).

If you post it to multiple places, I'll make sure you also get a free P1 desura key.

As of now, we don't know 100% know if we can give out free Steam keys, if not I'll make sure you get a Desrua Key instead and a link to all the extras we give away on GoG.com. If we can give out Steam keys, the only group currently promised them (due to the difficulty of quickly proving ownership) are the regulars at the RWS Forums, so this is an alternative way to be included in that priority group."

They aren't 100% sure you'll get keys :p

Ugh, got my reply back from Steam. So I got in on a 4 pack preorder of Torchlight 2 months ago. I have the first game as the preorder bonus (because I redeemed my preorder months ago), no second game in my library. I explain this to Steam Support, three days later, they tell me to redeem my game from the inventory.

:wall: seriously, just fuck.

I absolutely hate crappy CS; that sucks. That's why I love Amazon... The last time I had a problem and the support rep couldn't understand or solve it, she just gave me $10 credit.

Steam could learn a thing or two from them...

Steam support sucks period. I feel bad for you. Maybe try to give them less info or be more to the point.

Luckily this was for Torchlight 2 and not a game that was $50-60. Hopefully they come to their senses, because if I would have wasted $15 on a copy of T1, (which I already owned as a DRM free game), I will be pissed because T1 was $2.50 many times.
I wouldn't call the game mechanics on Rome dated at all. I would give it a go for $1.
Thanks everyone for the helpful comments. I went ahead and bought it.

This way I can wait until a Shogun 2 complete pack is eventually available and goes on sale. Most likely it'll sit in the void that is my Steam backlog though...
Sooooo many giveaways for Total War Rome right now that it is almost sad. Then again, maybe I can win a copy for a change lol.
I was going to grab a copy for my gift inventory so I could try for some of the giveaways and accidentally bought it for my account.

Ah, well.
Is there any sort of benefit that comes with the Beta, like a cheaper price on the game later? I've never really seen the 'deal' in these betas.
For what it's worth, the Alienware key activates on Steam as "Loadout Retail". I thought this was going to be free-to-play, though.

Bought. :bouncy: had a scratched up cd of this game sitting under one of the legs of my kitchen table.

Oh and missed the raptr deal apparently so I will not be giving out Psychonauts and Stacking.

Oh and, you all are awesome.

Ether Vapor Remaster is out on steam for $8 ( kind of a weird price point). It does look neat though and its on my wish list now.

I'm CONTINUING to await more of Capcom's localized Japanese indie publishing to show up on Steam. Ether Vapor is another big one but there's more where that came from still on GG and Desura.

By the way, Exceed? I still give it a thumbs up for you boolet hell lovers, all two of you. Exceed 3 is the only good one though. Exceed 1 is just too primitive and Exceed 2 is Ikaruga. Maybe you like Ikaruga, I dunno. I don't.

I got the DD gold edition from amazon for $1.99 last December. It's not steam so you have to download the files but its older so not so large. If you're patient, it'll probably be on sale again soon.

For those who bought McPixel off the mcpixel.net website a couple of weeks back... Most of you already know that there's a Steam key on your download page. I also just realized that when you try to start the Desura McPixel game (you should have received a Desura copy with your purchase) a SECOND steam key is generated. Pretty cool. This SOS guy has been pretty generous with his steam keys.

I'll probably be giving away my second McPixel steam code is this thread sometime tomorrow (so be on the lookout if you want the game).

And posting about it it multiple places should get one a Desura key for Postal 1. I realize most CAGs already have DRM-free versions of both from groupees or Indiegalas, but still, worth posting about:

Haha, I bought that game for $10 on my birthday as a gift to myself a couple weeks ago and I haven't had the time to even launch it! Looks like an awesomely fun game though :)

Haha... I looked last night and there was 54 give-aways on Steamgifts. I'm not sure if it counts multiple-gift entries (some of those were giftsing 5+ copies at a time).

Of course, I just spent the dollar since I'm saving all my points for Secret of the Magic Crystal give-aways.

I don't use Desura, but if anyone wants McPixel, I can give you my Desura key so that you can also generate a Steam key for it.

The Green Man Gaming deal for Sonic Generations just went live. It shows $7.99, but voucher GMG20-27J4Z-8NXHO brings total to $5.99. It gives a Steam key.

Bought!
It was worth the $25 I paid for it at launch. Hell I would of paid 50-60 bucks for it and still felt satisfied. Sega did a phenomenal job here.
I don't use Desura, but if anyone wants McPixel, I can give you my Desura key so that you can also generate a Steam key for it.
If it's still available can you PM me the code? Thanks!!! :bouncy:

Revisited Syberia today. Started the game months ago, but I was annoyed by it because every time I alt tabbed to do something else, there was this ginormous black box on the screen I couldn't get rid of and was unclickable.

Somehow I didn't notice that in the Syberia button on the taskbar was a way to close that box. Until today.

But hey, playing Syberia again. Such a fantastic adventure game. It has a slow pace, and waiting for Kate to walk to destinations is tedious, but the story, voice-overs, environments, and puzzles are just great and worth the play.
What are the chances of Binding of Isaac being in a bundle? Thought I had it already but I don't.
Was a gift in the Voxatron bundle.
