Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

GMG said they would be giving keys out till it is released.

Both of the old Thief games have amazing levels but I felt Thief 1 had too many Tomb Raider style levels that, given that they were back in the olden days of level design, naturally meant you were getting lost in giant labyrinths that didn't need to make sense at all. Thief 2 kept you more in structured buildings and the like where the way forward was generally easy enough to suss out.

Both are amazing games though. I look forward to trying out these patches. Do they work with fan missions? I still need to play COSAS, T2X, Calendra's, and so many more.

Also, everyone who thinks that Borderlands 2 is a good game is completely wrong and any fun you were having you must have imagined.

If thinking that is wrong then I don't want to be right. :)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but www.IndieGameStand.com has the Geneforge Saga (Geneforge 1 through 5) up today for $0.25 for just DRM-free, or $1 for DRM-free, GOG, AND Steam keys.

The game was in an Indie Royale bundle before, and it looks pretty good. Spiderweb Software are pretty damn good at oldschool RPGs, and the $1 level is pretty damn good this time.

Caved on the Thief Collection. Probably won't play anytime soon and could've waited for another sale on it down the line, but just seeing all the reviews of it being classic seems worth it.

Only a week 'til 2K13 comes out for PCDD:booty:

It's a good deal -- I doubt you'll see the Thief games drop any lower in price than ~2.25ish each. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the third one as I think the multiplatform nature and limited capacities of the Xbox killed the better aspects of the game like level design, etc. Much the same way Deus Ex: Invisible War is a total abomination compared to the original.

Thief 2 was recently on sale on GMG for $1.84 I think after the code (and before trading in free games towards it). I'm pretty sure that was the price, although I'm not positive.

I'll probably just wait for GMG to eventually put the other two on sale. Good deal if you really want to play the games now though.

Appreciate the re-assurance lol. I'm not a huge stealth fan either, but a classic is a classic and I can, hopefully, appreciate the game itself as far as level design, story, creativity, which are the points I hear emphasized the most about it. No rush to play tho.

Thief will get your blood rushing when you're trying to hide from the guards.

Just get it! It's absolutely amazing. And Thief 3 isn't that bad, it's just that the first two were too good :D
Dishonoroed reviews are out: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/dishonored/critic-reviews

It looks as great as it seemed it would be.
IGN says the story is wanting but gameplay is so good they gave it a 9.3. Also said PC versions looks so much better get it if you have a choice, which is kinda duh since its GFWL and great gamepad support, but that confirms the PC port is good unless someone has seen something bad about it?

Since I can't get the $20 rewards with PC version at BB, I think I'll sell my 360 copy after reading that. Between BB preorder special DLC, the $20/ in rewards, I should easily make some money on it,and just get the PC version first good sale I see.

People said Dishonored was a Steampunk Deus Ex. Reviews are confirming that, and well Dishonored will be my GOTY because of this. I fucking love Deus Ex just because of the openness to the game and this will be just as awesome it seems.

I am excited.
No, it's just Games for Windows. Steamworks is its DRM across the board.
Oh thank god. For a second I was worried.

Also just checked PC Requirements. Holy shit is it beefy. It better be optimized and not a shitty port.
The Walking Dead Ep 4 'Around Every Corner' will be available Tue Oct 9th on PSN in US, Wed Oct 10th on XBLA, PC/MAC!
Great news, this new episode looks like another winner. One of the best games to come out this year, no doubt.

Anyone ever have sound problems with Spec Ops: The Line? I recently bought it from Gamefly, and I have no sound at all during cutscenes. I looked at all of the fixes for it, and none worked. I read somewhere that its recommended to update my drivers, but unfortunately most new drivers make my entire computer unstable for most other tasks, so I want to avoid that. Anyone have any advice?

MAN, I'm still salty that my walking dead save file corrupted when i DLed episode 3. My only options are to play through episodes 1 and 2 again or "pick random outcomes" to the decisions. 1st world problems.

Sounds like the console versions suffer due to PC optimization on graphics. Word is it has screen tearing and pretty murky textures on consoles according to a statement on.metacritic

Are the PC specs that beefy? I looked at a couple articles that said they were surprisingly modest but that was in August. Have they increased since?

I'll be waiting on the game anyway given my backlog. Maybe I'll have a new graphics card by the time I get around to it.

Wait, there's a 'pick random outcomes' button?

Well, it looks like the Polish keys for Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition and Supreme Commander Gold have all been exhausted from CDaction. That lasted all of 12 hours. They haven't been removed from my inventory yet, so I'm hoping I got them for free last night. E-penis leveled up! Backlog length increased by 2!

Wait, they actually developed on PC first. Jesus Christ I haven't heard that statement in ages. Usually it's all consoles then pray for a decent port.

I got my key in from GMG so I will be downloading as soon as I get home from work. That is considering my other PSN downloads are done. I wanted to get Sonic Adventure 2 and Nights on Steam but I decided to get them on PSN since they are already out.

I'm.not sure, just sounds like its possible. A game that runs great on PC but has issues on both consoles graphically.....
Anyone know how long of a wait there usually is between Indieroyale bundles?
It tells you which bundles are coming up and gives a rough estimate of when on the bottom of the IR page. 1 week for the next bundle, 4 for the one after that.
The Expendables 2 is the daily for 7.49

Ha! I actually DLed the demo on PSN the other day, but still too much. I'd get it at a few bucks.

Also, my Walking Dead saves got lost after Ep. 2 so I had to replay it. Made some different choices, so going back to replay it yet again. I don't mind personally. Good drama.

I started my 2nd playthrough of Deus Ex last week, both the original and HR. So when I saw these reviews for Dishonored I couldn't help myself: got it from GMG with the 25% coupon.

So you tried disabling the hdmi sound ouput?

If you have any version of blood bowl in your library I believe you get a substantial discount on the new version coming out. If you are worried about losing it you could get the new version while the old is still in your library on the somewhat cheap.
So you tried disabling the hdmi sound ouput?
Yup, didn't fix it. For some reason I decided to give it a shot later and surprise, it works just fine now. No idea what did it though lol.

Just a heads up, after 8,500 bundles are sold in the current Groupees Be Mine 5 they will unlock a bonus Steam key for Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior's Rise.

At this time they only need 23 more bundles sold to unlock.
yea there is, really wish you could just pick outcomes manually
Hmm.. I didn't know that. Where is this button? As much as I wish there was a pick outcomes manually button (I don't really know why there isn't, seems easy enough to implement), this should do the trick. I'm primarily playing through the series on PSN, but I have it on Steam as well and would just rather run through the episodes quickly on there.

I love HIB, but I'm really taking a liking to receiving individual key per game in these bundles. I hope the next HI follows suit.

Thanks so much for this =)

I've played a bit of Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy over the last few days. It's all a bit... samey. I don't know what I was expecting but I don't think it was this. Every "level" is basically a 30-second puzzle where you need to beat the clock to kill the final boss.

On paper it seemed really fun. Maybe it's just me and I've outgrown games like this, but it just felt all a bit... bland.

There's no demo that I can see so I'd recommend you check out a few YouTube vids of it before buying (as luck would have it, I think TotalBiscuit is working on one now).
