Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Think I'll pass on Max Payne 3, feel like I am trying hard to talk myself into it and its not working. Also Hotline Miami is going for $5. Great deal. Grabbed it for a dollar more from gamefly yesterday and from what I played it's fairly fun.
I've got about 2 hours into Max Payne 3....and I'm really digging it, so far.

Yes,
I'm sure those who ain't bought the game yet would
The soundtrack files are in the steam game folder as ogg files.
So does the game includes the soundtrack? There's no option to buy the soundtrack with the game and it's not clear if it includes it.

I dig PS2... been playing since Beta. I'm by NO MEANS good (I think my K:D is something like .3-.4 but still) I like it. I think it's fun and having hundreds vs. hundreds is funner than hell but can get a little chaotic.
So does the game includes the soundtrack? There's no option to buy the soundtrack with the game and it's not clear if it includes it.
The soundtrack in its entirety is not for sale.

Though, the game's OGG files in the main folder are actually all of the songs. ;)

Those should be easy enough to convert, thanks for posting the soundtrack, sounds great and the game looks fun too.

FYI for those that missed the Microsoft sale and have a Microsoft Store near them some people in the other thread are reporting the store is matching the online deal when asked. Of course that could be a YMMV thing so I don't know that I'd drive miles and miles for it.
For those that are interested in Hotline Miami.. it'll probably be in an indie bundle eventually. It was actually supposed to be in the Super Shock Bundle, but got pulled because it's a flash deal today lol.

http://supershockbundle.com/
The annoying thing is if Hotline was in it, it would have swayed me to buy that bundle but without it while I was a bit on the fence I think I will pass.
Are there issues with Fallout: NV on PC?
I had an issue getting it to run the opening cinematic. It would just crash on me every time. Five minutes of research and installing a tiny fix, and I was good to go. Haven't had any problems since. I only say this because everyone else said it ran perfectly. You might have a hiccup or two, but in general they are very easy to fix.

Where did you see it was proposed to be in the bundle?

Hotline Miami is one of the editor's choice games on Amazon, so if you get a $5 credit, you'll be able to use it on the game in January. The game on Amazon is currently like $8 on Amazon, so it'll probably be similarly discounted in January. I'll probably pick it up then.

ugh to buy chilvary or not to. that is the question looks fun... but i have a feeling one of those games the community will disappear fairly quick /=

Mark of the Ninja is the best stealth game this year and definitely worthy of sitting on your shelf next to Thief 1 and 2. It is absolutely phenomenal and I cannot praise it enough.

And yes, I loved Dishonored and am enjoying Hitman Absolution but MotN kicks the crap out of both games in the stealth field.

For what it's worth, HA has too much stealth and it's just not as good as Dishonored, but the shooting is excellent and there's still some of the old Hitman charm.

Also, Hotline Miami is tremendous fun. Easily worth $5.
Why is Shogun only 66% when it's been 75% off a bunch of times already.
Because this is just a baby sale. You'll probably see it 75% again during the winter sale.
I meant from the source itself. When he posted it to reddit there was no indication Hotline Miami was included.
I'm not sure if there is any other source, it's hard as it is to find info about the guy running the bundle to begin with. Where's the reddit post?

For all that Mark of the Ninja has been discussed in this thread, today marked the first time I've bothered to click through and look at it. Fast-paced 2D with platforming action? This does look good!

But I won't play it before the Winter Sale, so I'm going to hold off. I'm committed to playing Deponia before it's any cheaper now that I've bought it.

I'd have to dig but he mentioned like ~3-4 hours after posting that he wouldn't be including his own game so it was all quite confusing. All he posted was the short list and the link which was just the countdown page.

I am pretty damn sure it was just speculation that the Hotline Miami dev might join in but at the same time he's also doing something for that Kickstarter bundle as well. I think there was a lot of miscommunication regarding who was in and who wasn't.
It does not. The Dawn of War Franchise pack, which oddly is only available for Germany out the moment, has everything, all DLC and DOW I games.

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15350/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_42&cc=de

They will probably bring it back and run it as a flash/daily on the Winter Sale.
That sucks. So it was on the US store in the past but is no longer?

I supposed I could wait, but I'd hate to do so and have it be the same deal during the Winter Sale, or none at all

Picked up Mark of the Ninja (been waiting for it to drop on XBL, but this works fine since I can use my 360 controller here too) and hoping to get in on a Borderlands 4-pack. Been waiting for Borderlands to drop below $25

Wow, I am completely shocked BL2 went to 50% off. My buddies and I all grabbed the game from Amazon since we figured it would only go to 33% off if it made it to a daily deal. Could have saved an extra $10 or so each if we had just got a 4 pack lol.

Regardless, it's a very fun game, so anyone on the fence should jump on it, especially at this price. Don't forget to get the DLC for cheap at Green Man Gaming, unless that sale is over!

Holding off on MotN 'til at least winter, though it does look fun. Still haven't played a single DoW game, but I'd rather pick up a franchise pack when I do.

I'm as surprised as anyone Borderlands 2 is this cheap already, but pretty sure I'll wait for the GOTY. I mean, the Season Pass is another $30, which in my mind says "This is really still a $60 game, sold in two parts." I'm not anti-dlc, but it seems to me unless you buy the Season Pass, you're not buying the full game. Perhaps that's not entirely fair to the devs, I'll admit, but the perception is there.

I have Dawnguard, Hotline Miami, and Mark of the Ninja in my cart. At 50% off these I can't justify getting them all. I won't be able to play everything before the winter sale. Help me decide!

The full DoW franchise pack was a deal in the summer sale yes. A lot of those bigger packs only show up on the big sales.

Unless THQ completely goes out of business or something then it's highly likely to return in the winter sale.

Wish Borderlands 2 season pass was at least 33% off. 50% was my target.

What are the chances Mark of the Ninja will hit 5 dollars on the winter sale? I made the mistake of playing the demo and now I need to play some more but 7.50 feels a bit high.
In the UK it was £10 two days ago at Impulsedriven, which was a great price until yesterday's £8 at Gamefly. ;)
In the words of 80s songsters The Bangles, Where Were You When I Needed You?

Still, only three quid difference. Phew :)

if you're getting just one, mark of the ninja would be my pick, since dawguard is just more skyrim, which is good but a different game is always welcome, if you're getting 2 than dawnguard and mark of the ninja, i just cant say enough of how amazing mark of the ninja is

Cool, thanks for that. I might just buy the three now and get the DLC later, if at all. Reading online it seems most of it is unecessary anyways

Luckily for me, Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai Collection is 75%. =)

No, that's a valid point, although maybe more on the publisher than the devs. I feel smug having picked up BL2 before release for
