Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
I'm planning to get Blueberry Garden and Lume - two little adventure titles I've been wanting for a while.

Major Steam sales, backlog, and CAG stinginess have made me try to wait for some discount close to 75% before I buy.
Humorously enough, I bought Blueberry Garden when it was $1.24 during a Steam Holiday Sale. I recall playing about 10 minutes of it before putting it aside for another time. (A time that hasn't materialized yet, despite the reported 35-minute journey.) To support an Indie Developer, $1.24 isn't horribly steep, but I'd definitely view some gameplay footage of Blueberry Garden beforehand.
The sale ends Tuesday. I'm assuming we'll get dailies and flash sales until then.
They better be damn good ... so far I've only spent $2.50.

I started PC gaming about one year ago and as time has gone on I've ended up buying almost everything I have interest in, so the sales get less interesting... I guess that's my fault. I'm mostly in it for deals on newer games now. I only bought one game for black friday, Dishonored from Greenman Gaming.

Ah, it's nice to see Motoki's memory kept alive.

EDIT: Oh man, Castle Crashers can be had for as low as $3.74 (With a CAGly 4-Pack). If anyone could confirm what console content made the delayed leap to PC, I'd appreciate the info heavily.
I bought Legends of Grimrock at the beginning of the sale for that price with my coupon. I wish I had waited until now to use it.
The Autumn Seal coupons all expired the first day of the sale.
Am I missing something about Silverfall? People keep mentioning it but the reviews are pretty bad.
I thought it would be something similar to Torchlight 2 and I Was very wrong, watch some youtube gameplay of it. I got very bored watching it.

However why am I just now finding out about Orcs Must Die 2??!?! Looks very fun and you can get the whole collection and DLC for less than 9 bucks??? Installing demo now.
wow, for the record the dark souls pc port really is shit. i can't even get it to fit on the screen properly. shame because it's a really great game.
Get DSfix. Read the read me it has after you download it. It is a must have for the PC version of the game.

Indeed. I've played all three versions of the game, and the PC version is absolutely the best once you've installed the fix and got everything optimized. It looks and plays great.
So FTL's beeen full price this
entire week, has it been in Humble Bundles before or is there still a chance for a flash sale?
It hasn't been in any bundles yet because I don't own it. Waiting for that to hit $2.50 or bundle.

Also holy shit on Witcher 2 price. That is a steal and one you shouldn't pass up for that price.

Hmmm, some good deals for the last day. Glad to see Witcher 2 hit 75% off. Still will wait personally, but the precedent has been set. Same for Alan Wake as I need American Nightmare and glad to know I should be able to get it for $3.74 whenever I do want it.
Obligatory question: I didn't like the Witcher 1 (didn't think it was bad, it just didn't grip me at all), will I like the Witcher 2?
The Witcher 2 is better than the first in just about every way.

FTL hasn't been on any indie bundles yet, at least I don't recall seeing it in one, I hope we get a flash deal on it or else I just wait until the holiday sale to buy it

Still on the fence about Sniper Elite V2... I'm playing the demo on Steam, and I'm finding it to be quite difficult. I've got to get past a patrol of about 5-10 soldiers, and I keep getting spotted. Does anybody know if the whole game will be like that?

Sniper Elite 2 deals less with sneaking than the first game did and is more actiony. So if you are hoping for a stealth or sneaking experience it might frustrate you.

Having said that anyone have any opinion on the Neudorf or Landwher dlc? They worth grabbing at all or?

Sooo..... did anybody take a chance and try to run Witcher 2 on a Mac with integrated graphics?

It might just stay a pipe dream, but I reeeeealllyyy want this game on my MacBook Pro...
Splinter Cell Conviction, the Uplay client didn't recognize that a patch existed. Ubisoft support couldn't help. I finally solved it myself by uninstalling Uplay 2 and allowed Splinter Cell to install the older version of Uplay it comes, which then patched the game immediately.

I had a similar issue with Assassin's Creed 2 but I solved it by renaming that game's Uplay folder to its old folder name, before Uplay 2 came out.

There was some kind of issue where Uplay 2 changed the folder names only on Steam games, but their servers didn't take that into account and didn't patch any of the Steam versions of games. I let them know, not sure if they fixed it since.
Ugh, sorry to hear. I picked up Conviction and the Summer Sale and beat it soon after and don't recall any patching issues. I do remember that Uplay chanaged its directory structure at one point. I also recall uninstalling Uplay to let a fresh install happen (right around their $1 sale).

Yeah, it's definitely not a stealth game AT ALL. I mean I'd think you were the best gamer in the world if you could actually sneak by people like that. The game is an action game. You can sneak by people here and there, but eventually the game missions call for you to get spotted anyways and have to shoot people.

It's stealthy in the the way you can try to get stealth kills by shooting during bombings to mask your bullets and stuff like that.

I just got the two mission packs. They promise one single player mission. I know I thought the Kill Hitler DLC was definitely worth it so a buck and some change per mission is fine by me.
I thought the Enhanced Edition extras were available for all copies of Witcher 2?

I bought a sealed boxed Witcher 2 (non-EE), and now it's $7.49. Sigh.
I have no idea but a drm free copy is also a nice perk.
I thought the Enhanced Edition extras were available for all copies of Witcher 2?

They are. But there are a few extras that are only available through GOG, like the Triss Playboy spread, the digital artbook and the comic book I believe.

In for two pieces of Tropico 4 DLC that I didn't have, and Witcher 2, I suppose.

Hunting through the adventure games list to see if there are any I don't already own that are cheap. It's actually reaching the point where I feel like I own more steam games than I don't.
Oh you guys. :imwithst:
Anyway, there's a bunch of crap over at Big Fish on sale for $2.99 if you enter the code CYBER. Most of it IS crap, but some is decent like 4 Elements II which is on Greenlight but oddly not on Steam yet.
Hey Motoki, are you a proponent of Big Fish crap? I've recently developed something of an obsession with Hidden Object games (...don't ask, I can't explain it) and I know they're basically the drug kingpin of those, but wading through their store looking for ones that aren't terrible is ridiculously frustrating.

Basically a dollar a game.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I thought it was harshly rated.
Am I missing something about Silverfall? People keep mentioning it but the reviews are pretty bad.
The reviews for the base game aren't great. I wasn't able to find many reviews for the expansion, which reportedly merges with the base game and addresses many of the complaints people had about the first.
4 Elements II
I enjoyed 4 Elements. I didn't realize there was a II. Thanks!

Sniper Elite V2 is definitely not a stealth game. There are large parts you CAN sneak through but for the vast majority of the game sneaking is just used to position you for the inevitable firefight.
